The Orthodox Hasidic Jewish community raised $48,000 in just 20 hours for the family of the Officer that was killed. https://go.thechesedfund.com/chevrakaddishaofflatbush/jerseycitypolicehero

it is always a huge loss to the extended community and humanity in general when good people are murdered - the detective, the mother, the student ... very very sad, extending wishes of peace to their surviving loved ones

@AC ... And the fourth good person, a hard-working father. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/12/nyregion/victims-of-jersey-city-shooting.html

“The Gruyère fritters at Crown Shy in Manhattan: These snacks are essentially warm churros filled with cayenne-laced cheese sauce.” It’s lunch time, so looking at the And Finally - Maybe order in something different than the usual Bonchon Chicken or Schnipper’s? Tune of “Scarborough Fair” Are you snarfing down their churro fare? Just relax, take one at a time. We bought enough so we can all share. We’ll all know they’re simply sublime. Tell them to bring out those Queens pasteles Hey look, take just one at a time. Unwrap the leaf, and taste why it sells. Now they’re cheap, but prices will climb. Are we serving more fine churro fare? This guy takes like three at a time. I never knew that he loves Gruyère Here’s the buzz, he thinks they’re sublime.

Dear Republicans, When you consistently, and incorrectly, claim Democrats want to “take away your guns”, allow me to explain it to you as I would to a child: Democrats don’t want to take every gun from everybody! But they do want to try to make sure that the two criminals in this case don’t get their hands on the type of guns that they can stand-off police for hours. In addition to brutal murders they committed. It’s that simple. And if you think it isn’t, try thinking again. It’s not a hard concept to understand. To date there has been nearly 400 mass shootings in America and nearly 40,000 deaths (source: Gun Violence Archive). And that’s just one year’s stats.

On a different note from all the sad news. The annual list of the top 10 dishes is a dream --and the photos are great. Just don't look at it if you're hungry!

"When they arrived, the officers found an unconscious woman who had been stabbed multiple times." The murdered 18-year-old Barnard student was evidently, according to this morning's radio report, accosted by a group of young men around 5:30pm. If robbery was the motive, a group could easily have overpowered a young woman and taken her money and whatever else they wanted. Multiple stab wounds? That's a bit more than just a robbery, and more than just a "mistake," which is what the defense will argue if the young men are ever caught, arrested, and tried.

The death of a 2-year-old at the Fulton Street 2/3 subway is a tragedy. It should be noted that the platform is incredibly narrow - and dangerous. There has been massive overdevelopment in the area over the past 8 years. Too much for the subway and other infrastructure. This was an accident waiting to happen.
