Though some parts of the story beg for a suspension of disbelief, the series is SO gripping and brilliantly done. Sam Esmail is really an auteur in every sense of the word. He reminds me a little of Almovodar, in that he is always coaxing out the tiny offbeat details that bring even secondary characters to blazing life. And when Janice the sadistic taxidermist finally met her end, it was so cathartic that we cheered ebulliently, then had to rewind and watch it three times. (And this from someone who usually peeks at violent moments in TV and film through my fingers.) Bravo. Cannot wait for this addictively agonizing saga to end, and will miss it desperately when it does.

A nice touch seeing the Westinghouse robot from the 1939 worlds fair which perhaps not surprisingly is stored in the Queens Museum.

Sam Esmail is so good. He builds a scene to such tension it's almost unbearable. I watch it on Prime, and find myself turning it off every 20 minutes or so to do something trivial to break the tension (like the dishes). I have to watch in small chunks. Rami Malek is such a master of emotions. I haven't enjoyed a series this much in a long time.

Since Darlene is an expert hacker too, I can't help but think that with Elliot dysfunctional, she will be the one to enact the financial ruin of E Corp unless she can lift him up from his doldrums. This show is fabulous.

Unless that suspected third personality of Elliot's emerges to save the day, just thought of that possibility.
Anna Base (Cincinnati)
Arguably the third personality is child Elliot

This is an episode with a mixed emotions scenes, this season put us down a path of emotional roller coaster . I want to give up to Darlene and Dom for being a tough cookies.

Interesting that there seems to be little interest from the fans of this once, "it" show. It's been one of the best, original TV series since the beginning, and still is as it's racing to it's series finale, in my book. There's so many "new" shiny objects out there, attention spans seems to get shorter and shorter. I will certainly miss this show's creativity and characters when it's gone.

@rex What are you basing this "little interest" observation on? I have been curious to see if the show would get a viewer boost from Malek's rising star status.
Robert Lipscomb (Nashville)
@rex I agree. I read several episode reviews from across the web and am amused by the comments of conceited hipsters. I am 66 years old which is too old to follow a second rate series. Mr. Robot has been masterful all four seasons. Many of the negative comments relate to the series being slow and/or wandering from its roots. Mr. Robot has always been one part caper and one part psychological drama. "Slowing down" to get inside the heads of a split personality or the many other damaged people in this show is as much a part of Mr. Robot as the fast pace hacking episodes. I am as interested in Elliot's psychological adventure as I am the resolution of the attack on the Dark Army. Both are fascinating.

@Robert Lipscomb It's the first TV show I've seen since The Prisoner where understanding every detail of the plot isn't really necessary. And I'll trade Mr. Robot for totally predicatable TV any day. That said, the episode where they walk through the woods was awfully slow.

Good recap. So glad Dom cut loose. If she hadn't killed that witch I'd have been most disappointed. Hope she survives. By the way, Ms. Gummer is a fine actor, and of course she gets it honestly: runs in the family. Thought this an excellent segue from the great tension and revelations of last week's episode to what comes next. Thought the reconciliation scene handled most nicely in writing, acting, and direction. Loved the giant robot standing around when Young Elliot hides the key.

Simple one after a blast last week, but still effective. Can't wait for the last one
Taha (Tripoli, Libya)
The emotional tension these last two episodes made me totally forgot about Tyrell possibility of being dead and I was not even surprised by seeing him. Good recap.

Good recap. Just a small edit in the penultimate note: those are Deegan's guys who break into Dom's family house during "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," which of course we didn't know at the time in a Silence of the Lambs-like switcheroo.
