The Dallas - Grotesque! Looks like a movie set from a bad Laural and Hardy film from the 1920's!

All three of these offerings are baffling. The first is an expensive four story rental unit. The second, although relatively attractive, has next door neighbors sitting in your rooms with you and the Dallas home defies description. Maintenance would be breathtaking and added to the taxes . . . well, I think I'd pass.

The Dallas house is a disaster

The comments about the Dallas house are too funny. In 1984-5 I lived in the Lakewood section of Dallas and passed this house almost every day. The style is fanciful, not Normandy so much. It was owned by RL Thornton (there’s even a freeway in Dallas named after him). I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the interior. And yes, because we have no state income tax, property and sales taxes are high here. Thank you for including it in the real estate section this week.

This house is a joke of poor taste. Why perpetuate it by showing it here? I'm French have been to Normandy many times; no where have I seen anything looking like this. And in Dallas, Texas?

I never knew Texas (or Dallas?) property taxes are so high. I would have thought that the Lone Star State would keep those down in the spirit of the free market, invisible hand, and all that. Anyone know anything about this topic? For example, are they low up to a point, and then a "luxury" rate is applied for high priced/high value properties?

@Michael No state income tax so property taxes are often pretty high. And since the recent election produced a state amendment saying in effect that there never will be a state income tax I'm guessing that the property taxes won't be headed downward any time soon.

The bedroom in the Dallas home would give anyone nightmares. And the lavender bath..
Native Houstonian (Houston)
@Potter Awww, I kinda like the funky bathroom. But yeah, that wallpaper bedroom, hoo boy. It probably would induce nightmares... if one could ever fall asleep in such a place.
GreenGene (Bay Area)
@Potter No kidding! That second floor bedroom is one of the ugliest rooms I've ever seen. It's a McMansion nightmare on steroids. Never been a fan of Fall of the House of Usher decor.

@Potter Looking at the layout of the lavender bath, after using the toilet one must walk a-r-o-u-n-d the bathtub in order to use the bidet. This seems less than optimal.

Am I the only one who thinks "Normandy chateau-style" in Dallas is a bit laughable?
Left Coast (California)
@MrDeepState Not even just a bit, very laughable!
