Instead of a New Album, Rihanna Drops a Book

Anyone who buys this book is contributing to the narcissism of an overrated celebrity. The title of the book, its cover, its content, its length, and its price all plainly reveal an attempt to increase the fame and wealth of someone who deserves neither. Rihanna is a talented singer. But she isn't nearly as important as she and her fans think she is. A person who would rather spend $150 on this book than on several quality nonfiction and/or fiction books is a fool.

It must be nice to be able to just print money when ever you need it. Well...even if you don't need it.

I love this! I still remember when Brandon Stanton (Humans of New York: HONY) tried to get his photo book published. The publishers said "no one buys a photo book any more" and it OPENED on the New York Times Bestseller list. You GO girl! This will sell; people love pop, color, photos, Rihanna and most importantly fantasizing that they can one day LIVE THAT LIFE. Introducing this at Christmas time? All those parents who don't know what to buy their kids who love Rihanna now know what to buy their kids that love Rihanna. Me! I like Rihanna - but I love Barbados, fashion, photography, and women who are fabulous. So - I'll buy it. Susan photographer of no known renown, and fan of strong women Waterville, Ireland.

$150.00 for a 502 page photo album sitting on the coffee table seems a fair price for a fan that can afford it. Heck, I've been in the same homes many times to see the same wall pictures hanging in the same place over & over. Images to the beholder are a matter of curiosity first, taste second and appreciation later. I'd prefer the NYT's History Book of its front pages personally on my coffee table. I ain't mad at her; she's the marketable income package that sales itself

I think of Rihanna as a Carribean, hip hop, more Glam version of Taylor Swift. I find nothing offensive or interesting about her. Once you get used to her startling beauty she becomes boring. My opinion.

i'm intrigued by that xmas later dated 1994- rihanna was six in 1994. that does not look like a six year old's handwriting. who did she dictate that letter to? what work did she have to do that kept her from writing a letter to her mom? and where was her mom that she had to make plans to visit her for the holidays? did rihanna live in a different town from her mom when she was six? did her mom live in a different country? so many questions!

“And my fans are young and they’ve got A.D.D.; they’d rather look at pictures than read, let’s be real.” I had the attention span to read this far. I can skip this one and keep me limited focus on the occasional red carpet photo scroll to catch up. Just keeping it “reel.”

Expanding into these other areas is smart for her because her music was mainly written and produced by others. This is a way to be an owner rather than a front-person performer.

Her great talent is clearly in marketing.

Few things are more empowering than genuinely not caring about celebrities. Sigh. But hey, if people want to give her money for this stuff, all the power to her.
