Is this creature like the non-biting mosquito ?

If anyone is wondering, Palau's Jellyfish Lake has rebounded almost to pre-2016 drought levels. It's a huge moneymaker for the state.

My resident 11-year-old jellyfish expert points out that jellies mainly use their stinger to stun and eat plankton. Protecting themselves from predators is a secondary use. I assume that stingless jellies are still capable of zapping plankton in the lake.

The situation with these stingless jellyfish populating lakes in SE Asian and Micronesia is the opposite of what my wife and I recently witnessed in the fjords of southeastern Norway where the helmet jellyfish is taking over and killing off vital fish populations, all thanks to global warming. In Norway, they WANT to see the helmet jellyfish population significantly reduced and wouldn't mind tourists kicking or paddling many of them to death.

Humanity is doomed.

The Half-Earth Project may be the only existing science-based endeavor that provides humanity with a chance to avert ecological disaster. Its goal to "protect half the land and sea in order to manage sufficient habitat to reverse the species extinction crisis and ensure the long-term health of our planet" could give these endangered jellyfish and other threatened species a chance of survival.

Mr Hartono has no interest in preserving nature for nature’s sake. That quote personifies human hubris and our ultimate extinction. Man we are one stupid species. Exploit, breed, repeat.

@Harry B There's a song from some 50 years ago I'd like for him to consider. If we human creatures were as special as we say we are, we'd figure out a way to live in balance. As far as I can tell, we have a long way to go before we find out it's to late. Now I gotta get out of here. Taxi! Taxi!

@Harry B People in Indonesia are generally poor. This is my observation based on several visits. Mr Hartono is seeking to benefit from the one chance he has.

Agreed — all he is interested in is making money.
