My 4th grade class thinks that the little girl in the blue dress is holding hands with her father who might be the captain of this army. We also wonder if this is some type of parade in which the military is involved in.

I believe that the adults are reenacting a war and the child is one of the actors. I think this because those military uniforms are not often used anymore.
I imagine this to be a commentary on the military regimes in various countries where someone in the army may be accountable for other people in their life. Here you can see the girl wearing vibrant clothes as opposed to drab green uniforms by the soldiers and holding her family member's hand. Notice how they stand at the back of the line implying those with such young family take a step back from their duties, still participating but taking that step back to consider their position and the outcome's effect on his family.

@Aiden at first I was seeing what the person above you was seeing(the girl is sending them off) but its usually someone who is related to them, and it don't look like they are. It might not have been her mom, could be a sister, brother, grandma anyone. So yeah I do see a group going to war or preparing and taking a pause and helping our country by being a good citizen on top of fighting for us.
From what I can tell, the girl has her hair done in tight braids, she is wearing white tights, she has a flow-ey blue gown and is wearing ballet flats. This leads me to think she was in a dance recital of some sort. And for the man holding her hand in the soldier type outfit, maybe this is her father. But these conclusions don't explain the other smaller boys or girls in the picture who also seem to be dressed the same way the father-like figure is dress. It looks like a place that having controversial problem. Then, soldiers have to protect villagers. In this picture, they might bring the girl out of the dangerous area or red zone which is easy to get attack from terrorists.
I think this people in this picture are just finished their work. So that man maybe just bring his daughter to work. The little girl's outfit is very clean and pretty and these guys dressed up like come from 1980.

We think that this is either a memorial walk for someone, a tribute for someone, a dad and daughter reunion, or a private event.
This could be a memorial walk because of the army uniforms, rifles in their hands, and the way they are in two straight lines. The two poles in the background could be holding up the American flag and a state flag.
This could be a tribute to someone who passed in a war because of the sorrowful look in the picture and this also explains why the little girl is present in the picture. They have rifles, which are not used today, probably for a ceremonial purpose or tradition. They might also have been relatives.
This could also be a father and daughter reunion because the girl and man are holding hands. Why else would the girl be there? It could also be the girl’s birthday and that is why the father came.
We also noticed that no cars can be found on the road. This shows that this might be a private event. We can also notice the some sort of garden the people are walking towards.

Our group thinks that it might be marching of a military reenactment for the WWII. We think the little girl got scared and wanted to be with her dad. We think this because they are dressed up in WWII war uniforms, they also have rifals, which were used in the war. Their helmets are M1s which were also used in WWII. We see the girl is wearing ballet shoes and a ballet outfit, also with her hair in a fancy bun.
We think that there is some kind of march going on. There is a large line of soldiers/veterans. The last man in the line is holding the hand of a little girl, presumably his daughter. She is in a blue dress/costume with a pair of ballet slippers. At first we thought it was Halloween, but since there seems to be much light, and we see their shadows on the pavement. We can infer that is not Halloween. We also think that they might be on a march, or a walk. It might be for a cause, statement, or protest. It also seems that the line of soldiers/veterans is continuing onto a path. The other things that we notice is a bridge in the background, We know they aren't marching across the bridge, but the bridge suggests there is a river or water source nearby. It looks like the tall one is the leader or at least with them because of his clothing, and I think he is walking the little girl, his daughter, to a dance or something formal.

In this picture, I see a group of youth soldiers who might be going for duty. The tallest soldier at the back is possibly their general, since he is not wearing the same uniform the rest are wearing. And because of the amount of militaries I think they had just completed a special mission with the girl. But the other option is that they are going to a party. However, it is hard to say.

I think that they are celebrating Halloween or heading to present a show. The soldier without a helmet would be the girls father or older brother and commander of the other soldiers. The image shows how when a person is a young child he is covered from the true reality of this cruel world. That child is represented by the innocent girl dressed as a little princess. Children are only shown the light of the world to give them a bright figure of where they are, but this starts to change as the age on and get exposed to the harsh conditions and dark side. That gives them a more serious opinion on where they are standing and so they live through their lives solemnly. That is represented by the men dressed as soldiers that have the best point of view of how bad people could be in wars.

This picture probably taken during Halloween or during a simple demonstration around the same time. I believe that this picture is a representation of how when we are children at young age we simply follow our parental figures or role models into the dangerous reality of the real world. The little girl in the picture wears what looks to be a Cinderella dress. Her role is to embody our childhood fantasies as we are unknowingly thrown into the madness of the world. This madness is symbolized by the people dressed in what looks to be soldier costumes and march together to their destination.
The photo really points to being taken during Halloween, however its day time in the photo. This decision was most likely made because at night the scene of the photo wouldn't be as easily seen and the message couldn't be perceived as well.

It is Veterans Day and I think, that this picture is more about Veterans Day because this day is all about honoring the people who were or are serving. I see a parade on Halloween the 31st of October. A team of baseball players have dressed up as soldiers.
In the picture, I think that the army force is escorting or protecting the little girl that may be royalty or rich. I think this is a possible scenario because, in the picture I notice that the army men are wearing camouflage, carrying weapons (guns), and also walking second file. I also see a little girl wearing a bright blue dress, with a blue accessory, with brown hair braids in a bun. I think this little girl is maybe royalty or from a rich family because it’s not every day that you get to wear such a beautiful dress. I can also see that the army force is wearing helmets or green hats except for the man holding the little girls hand. Not only that, but also, I see them walking on a street that has no cars. Another conclusion is that they are going to a funeral of the little girls mom or dad, who is very important.

I think in this picture that this scene is from the olden days, the people are trying to reenact something. This picture was probably not taken in the 90s or 70s because it is colorful and not black and white. It is focused in the front and the back is blurred out. The lines are painted on the road so its is not like the olden days. The little girl probably wanted to be a part of the scene and act out something important but it looks like she is nervous because she is holding onto her dress. The sword that the man is holding looks like plastic because there is no metal reflection. They probably don't want to hurt anyone, and the guns might be fake. This is a private event because no one else is around.
I think what's going on is that a girl is holding a man's hand walking behind a group of soldiers. I say that because they're all walking across the street. More things I notice is that the girl is wearing a dress, I don't know why. Also, the man holding the girls hand is wearing a similar uniform to the soldiers.

It looks like there are 15 men and 1 little girl. The little girl is wearing ballet flats and her hair is in a bun, so I think she is a little dancer. It also seems as though this is sometime in the early 2000's because of the helmets. One man is not wearing a helmet, I think it's her father. But, it looks like they're going to war, but not just yet because there would be more of them. And since the little girl is in dance attire, the soldiers might be going to her recital before they leave. Along with the man without a helmet is holding the little girl's hand, so he probably wants to his his child perform before he has to leave and all these other soldiers are going to support.

The people in this picture are probably coming from some kind of event for one of the World Wars. The reason i think this, is because they are in militarily uniforms and carrying guns. The little girl is probably related to the man that is holding her hand.
The conclusion I made it that they are troops and I think that this is an act for some show because they are dressed nicely and the have a young girl, no one will ever take a small girl to war that is why I think this is an act.

we noticed that the photos that are published are relevant to what has been going on in the week that the photo was originally published. We wonder why there is a young girl holding a man's hand and why she is wearing ballet shoes.
We think that it may be a parade for Remembrance Day and that the man holding the girl's hand is a relative or a friend.
We also think it's somewhere near summer in the photo because the grass is green, it's sunny and the leaves are green and we think the people may be in the military. We wonder why there seems to be capes or tarps on the people's backs.

It looks like the soldiers are from early or present Germany or Russia. It looks like they are either scouting the area for intruders and someone wanted there kid to come or they are preparing for an potential attack and they are getting the children to safety.

The "capes" that the "soldiers" are wearing are just tarps, and the one in the back has his/her daughter with them. This could be a Halloween even somewhere in the world. The group of friends could be out trick or treating during the day and the one in the back brought his/her little sister/daughter along for the ride.

Well, since this is November which is the time of year where we honor our veterans, I believe this photo was taken around this time of year and that this march is in fact a march for fallen soldiers and all the soldiers who are still alive. I think the little girl is holding hands with her father who is probably a war veteran based off of his outfit. I also noticed that the group in front of the girl all have guns wrapped around them.
There is a bunch of people in military uniform with hats on i could look like some march for the people that has just come home from a war. It makes me say that because of their clothing and some of the soldiers also have guns. There is also a little girl holding hands with what i think is her dad. She looks a little less depressing than the rest because she has a blue dress and some fine shoes.

My first thought was that soldiers were marching into a war and the tall, blond guy was walking with his daughter for as long as he could. However, as I look at it more it seems that the soldiers may be coming home from work and the blond guy has been approached by a little girl and is walking with her. It is obvious this takes place in another country due to the uniforms because US Military uniforms do not look like that. The little girl seems to be wearing a ‘princess’ dress with tights and her hair done up pretty fancy. This could be for many reasons such as a birthday or Halloween. The tall, blond guy, along with many others, are wearing a military uniform with some form of weapon(sword or gun). It is day time outside and they are walking across the street towards what looks like a little park area.

To me, the little girl seems to be the daughter of the man she's holding hands with, from what I gather looking at this photo I believe these men belong to the military from another country. If that is the man's daughter he may be parading her around with these other men showing "not to mess with his princess" giving a warning to all of this country's citizens that military families are not to be messed with!

Not sure what's going on in this picture. In this picture i see a group of what looks to be men. They are wearing uniforms and walking in a line on a what looks to be an empty street. It's daytime. Their uniforms are green. They're wearing jackets/capes over their uniforms, and black boots. Their uniforms look older than the modern day ones. It looks like some of them are carrying guns, the guns look like they are fake. All of them are wearing helmets except for the person in the back, who is holding a little girls hand while they walk. It looks like there's a parade going on for the men in the military. It looks this way because the roads look empty from cars and the men are walking on the road in a line, dressed up in army uniform with their weapons and the little girl in the back had the opportunity to march with them because it looks like she's holding the guys hand in the back and he is possibly her dad. I also noticed that she was wearing ballet shoes and sort of a ballet dress and her hairs done so maybe the parade was made to inspire other kids to reach their dreams(like the little girl wanting to become a ballet dancer) and know they're protected by their army of men willing to sacrifice their lives.

This seems to be a Dad taking boy scouts out on a trip of some sort. The dad seems to also be dropping his daughter off at a dance lesson or performance because she is wearing ballet shoes, tights, and a dance costume, The little girl also has a bun in (this is all proper ballet attire). The boys walking in front of the man appear to be buy scouts because they are wearing boy scout hats and helmets, they are also wearing they proper clothing for an outing. They boys are also caring guns, which proves they are boy scouts.
@Brooklyn W. My conclusion was very similar to yours, except for the part that you said they were boy scouts. 3 out of 4 of my brothers were boy scouts and they were never given war clothes and weapons.
I believe that this is a parade for the military in a foreign country which I believe to be England. I believe it is England because their uniforms do not look like U.S. military uniforms and they are also wearing some kind of overcoat which is not the one typically seen with U.S. troops. The leader of this division is most likely the man holding the little girl's hand because he does not have a helmet on and seems to be moving at a more relaxed pace than the soldiers in front of him. I believe this is a parade due to the fact that they are very near to the street and there are no cars seen to be passing on the road which could mean it is being blocked off for the parade.
It looks to be a more recent photo, due to the quality of the photo. The photo seems to be on a group of soldiers walking on the road with a girl, holding hands, as if he is presenting her in a way. Most of the soldiers are dressed the same and are around the same relative height except the one holding the girls hand, so he might older than the other soldiers. I don't know where this could be exactly, but just judging based off of uniform, I would say this is somewhere in Russia or Germany.

From the looks of it they are in the road on a highway or some other kind of main road, there is well kept plants in front of them and we can see the slightest bit of a light pole? a street sign? in the back. I agree with you assertion that this is in a different country because of the uniforms. Additionally, the man with blond hair makes me think this as this is a common hair color in eastern European countries. The girl also has a tan skin tone, also common in eastern Europe.

We notice that the girl is wearing ballet slippers. We think the man holding her hand is her father. It could be a parade for the military, because there are no cars around and they are on a road. We don't think this is in the United States because of the way the uniforms look. The uniforms look older, so this might be a reenactment or performance.

I agree with your thoughts on the photo, I didn't even take into consideration that there were no cars on the street which helps to support the idea that this is some sort of parade. I also agree that this photo is most likely taken in a different country because of how different their uniforms look. My first thought was also a reenactment because of the way they are dressed and because of the little girl that is with them.

The picture looks a bit odd to say the least. You have a (forgive me if this isn’t the correct term) platoon of soldiers, with one in the back holding the hand of a young girl in a powder-blue dress. It could just be a father on his way to a reenactment with his daughter, or maybe it’s a father and daughter patrolling the streets. However, why a street would need a group of soldiers like that for just a patrol is beyond me.
It looks like people are going to war. But I am not sure why the little girl is doing there?
@Willa I disagree, this picture looks like it was taken from this century and the little girl wouldn't be there if they were. The man is holding a sword but they don't use swords in wars anymore, and those are old rifles that they are holding but they use more advanced weapons now.

We think the soldiers are marching to a ceremony and the little girl is marching with her Dad. We think her grandfather passed away in WW2. We see some greenery in the picture, which makes us wonder if maybe there is a tree planted in Memorium of fallen soldiers.

We also think there is a possibility that they are re-enacting WW2 and the man is protecting the girl because she has brown hair and at the time, brown hair was not necessarily a good thing. The soldier has blond hair.
Clearly it looks like they are some sort of soldiers that are marching to a spot. I almost think that it is like a war reenactment because if you have a kid with you with a group of soldiers you are either going into war or doing a reenactment. Since she has a beautiful dress on I think that she is just joining the boys for a good old fashion war reenactment. Plus they don't really look like they’re fleeing a country they look kind of laid back and are just on there a way to the local battlefield.
In this picture I see a bunch of people getting ready for a Halloween party that night. One reason I say this is that so many of the guys are wearing the same outfit. Also the gun that you can see the person wearing looks like it just a pellet gun. Another reason is you see one of the guys with his daughter wearing a princess outfit because she is probably going to the party as well. The last thing is that I the outfits don’t look like actual military outfits for them to wear if they were going to a war or a castle
What I think is happening in this picture is a WWII reenactment. The reason I say that is because the picture looks like it was taken recently and the men in the picture appear to be wearing a uniform from WWII. Also, the roads look like they are from recent times.
The kids are going trick or treating as a group. The adult in the group also brought his daughter who’s dressed as the princess. One of the guns has a yellow color to it showing that the gun is not real. If I had to guess, the boys are not very happy about the princess tagging along.
In this picture we can see that a man holding possibly his daughter's hand while in front of him are younger kids dressed as soldiers walking in the middle of the day. I don't think that it is during Halloween because it is the middle of the day and there does not appear to be anyone else on the streets. I think that it is a neighborhood dad taking some kids out trick or treating and he is holding his little girls’ hand. The outfits are outdated and and the rifles are wooden if you look under the one boys’ arm. The little girl could also be royalty and is getting an escort. But then she would be surrounded.

Part 1-
The little girl holding her father’s hand is what captures my attention in this image. Judging by their guns and helmets, it appears that the men, including the father of the girl, are soldiers. It is a possibility that these soldiers could be preparing to go to war since the are wearing protective gear such as black boots and helmets. However, these men may not be heading toward combat but could be doing military training or just marching down the street. I believe that this image is attempting to convey a deeper message than showing a group of soldiers with a little girl. This image is attempting to provide insights into the life of a girl who has to experience a military lifestyle because her father serves in the military. Since the girl may not have anywhere else to go, she has to follow her father around as he goes to serve his country.
This looks like this might be on Halloween, I would say this might be a re-enactment of some kind, except for the little girl that is dressed up and holding the guy's hand. This could indicate that there might be a group costume on Halloween. They are on a commercial road and look like they have fake guns and the clothes look relatively new. This is probably some kind of recreation of some kind of battle or maybe something for Halloween.
Part 2-
As tension and conflict is created all over the world, more soldiers are forced to serve in the military and more families are torn apart. As shown by the little girl in the image, this conflict not only affects the soldiers but often, the families and the communities of these men. This girl represents the numerous children who are forced to spend the rest of their childhoods following their fathers around in the military and experiencing events that children their age should not have to face. This may affect their social and mental life in a negative manner since all they will have have seen is soldiers training in the military and going to war.
Whether or not these men are soldiers preparing for war, this image still depicts the effects that military duty can have on children. Fathers in the military who do not have anywhere else to leave their children often have to take their children with them to military duty. The girl holding her father’s hands has to accept the fact that she must go wherever her father travels. The message that this image conveys is deep and addresses a universal issue: numerous children throughout the country and the world have to adjust their lifestyles because their parents serve in the military.
The person in the back seems taller than the rest of the group and their military gear seems quite dated, weapon stocks are wooden. Also there seems to be no need for raincoats in this kind of weather. Combined with the little girl in the back this seems like it is more likely some sort of reenactment situation. Or school military exercise (in some countries those are still a thing).
I think in this picture that this scene is from the olden days, the people are trying to reenact something. This picture was probably not taken in the 90s or 70s because it is colorful and not black and white. It is focused in the front and the back is blurred out. The lines are painted on the road so its is not like the olden days. The little girl probably wanted to be a part of the scene and act out something important but it looks like she is nervous because she is holding onto her dress. The sword that the man is holding looks like plastic because there is no metal reflection. They probably don't want to hurt anyone, and the guns might be fake. This is a private event because no one else is around.
I think in this picture there is a military general with his daughter and his men marching for something. They are all wearing military uniforms, but they look more like the uniforms from earlier generations. Some of the men are carrying guns, so that makes me wonder if they are reenacting something.
I see 14 men who seem to be apart of the army or some type of security or government. Out of the 14 men one has no type of hat an he is holding hands with some little girl in a nice blue dress. But it seems weird on why they would be in the middle of a street and have this little girl with them. So they could be in some type of costumes for an event, parade, march. This photograph is good quality so it is probably very recent, probably in the 2000's.

I believe that you may be right about the fact that these men and the girl are dressed up for Halloween. I also agree that the soldiers are probably not going to war after looking at the girl’s dress and the uniforms they are wearing. However, there are many other possibilities as to what the men and the little girl could be doing. Since their outfits are of uniform composition and they are all wearing black boots, they seem to be doing something more serious than just celebrating Halloween. There is most definitely a purpose as to why the little girl is with them, holding her father’s hand.
I believe that this image is trying to convey a deeper message than just depicting a Halloween parade. This image is trying to reveal the impacts that serving in the military has on children. The little girl holding her father’s hand is meant to represent the numerous children who are affected by their parents serving in the military. The men in this image are doing much more than marching; they are trying to raise awareness of the effects that occur on the children of those who serve in the military.

In this picture I see about 12 military men walking in double file lines folllowed by what appears to be the leader or the trainer who is walking alongside and holding hands with a littl girl who could possibly be his daughter. It looks like this because of the color and style of their clothing, but it looks very different from military uniforms nowadays so they could be intentionally dressed in old military uniforms or they could be from Europe. This military detachment was most likely photographed during the so-called Victory Parade held annually in many post-soviet countries (especially in Russia) on May 9th. They are dressed in military uniform from the World War II. The girl also looks festive since her hair is braided and the dress resembles dresses of that time.

I am guessing that what is going on in this image is halloween costumes. It is a group of men dressed up as military and a little girl dressed up as a princess or ballerina. The military uniforms do not look modern, they have a style from the last century. They are not marching, their feet do not line up. The men are not dressed for an urban, current setting. Even if they were halloween costumes, or an unrealistic representation of a military setting, it still does not make any sense for a young girl to be walking alongside a military wing. Which is why it is most likely for it to be a fake setting.

I think that the men are not actually serving in the military because their uniforms seem outdated (maybe from WWII) and they are not marching. As a result, I think that the men are participating in a memorial or some sort of tribute and are only dressed up as soldiers. The fact that the little girl is with them and dressed up as a princess also influences this conclusion.

There is a supposed military unit walking across the street, in a symbolic march.
It is symbolic as they are not marching, which means they are coming back in victory, and they are wearing World War I uniforms. We can observe that one has a rifle which also fits the time period. The man holding the girl's hand is aslo symbolic as they managed to save their homelands to keep their children and family safe.
I also notice that farther to the front you can see people with different hats, probably marking their higher status as they are leading the group.

I think that the picture portrays a group of military rebels walking with a little girl. I believe this because the people walking have dark green clothes and a dark green helmet, resembling the colors of the military. They also have heavy-duty boots as if they were ready for battle, and they have guns, maybe a sort of rifle like the military. They could be rebels because they are walking in a city but they are prepared for anything, as if they were threatened by someone. I noticed the little girl walking with them. It could be that the rebels were hiding or resting someplace in the city and they found the little girl all by herself so they took her with them.

my students thought: (1)what I see in this picture is that there are a lot of people walking all together because there all dressed up in a brown camouflage coat, also they are holding guns but I do not think that they are real. The men look like guards or some type of military detail that is marching together taking care of a place. Then, the little girl is dressed up, so she must have been going home from nursery or a party and lost her mother in the way. Lastly, the day is clear and there is not another person or object that indicates she has been in an accident. Something else that I notice is that all of the men are wearing their hood, but the last one is not. I wonder why he is not wearing anything, and why the girl is dressed up. I am also curious about the country where the image was taken.
We believe that this picture takes place in modern times since it is a colorized photo. Furthermore, we think it takes place in a cold city. We conclude that these people are soldiers since they are wearing dark green uniforms, helmets, equiped with a rifle, and walking together in unison. Real weapons are held in a more formal way. As a final statement, I believe that they are on their way to some type of festival due to the way the girl is dressed and the way the weapons are handled by the men.
In this photo, I believe that these are soldiers ready to go off to a battle and is walking through the street to show everyone that they are ready. The picture also shows a little girl holding hand with a man which I suppose is her father and the captain of the group. She´s probably accompanying him until he has to leave to fight. I say this because in the picture I see a group of men holding guns with a helmet on top of their head. They are shown walking through a crosswalk and a young girl holding hand with the man. I noticed some of these men have different helmets on which can mean that they are in a specific country that is always in battle. They can also might represent a unit.
This picture was probably taken at a march to support the armed services and a little girl joined her father during this march. The reason I think it supports armed services is because yesterday was Armed Services ( I don’t know if that is the official name or something else) so people were supporting the military. The picture was probably taken in order to show support not only for military but also for their families, which would explain why the little girl was there. It is probably also because veterans day is coming up so people are starting their celebration early. I am not completely sure about this claim because the uniforms seem to be outdated, like from the last century and not what the military usually wears.
I think the group of soldiers are going to a memorial of a fellow soldier with his daughter. The man at the far end is walking along with a little girl, holding her hand. Their hair color and skin tone do not match at all, so I inferred that the soldier is taking the girl to the memorial of her father. I noticed that the soldiers are carrying rifles and other metallic weapons that look kind of fake, which confuses me because if they are, it could change the whole story: a group of teens wearing soldier costumes for trick or treating.
In this picture, it looks like a group of teenagers that have military uniforms, helmets, and guns (fake?). Then there is an instructor (middle-age man/woman) holding hands with a little girl with a blue dress. I think that they are training as they have an instructor and they are aligned crossing the street. I also notice how one of them doesn’t have a helmet, but some king of hat which makes him look much older than the other, so are they teenagers or man? And is the instructor just taller than them?
In this picture i see a group of soldiers and one soldier is holding a little girls hand. i also see that every soldier is wearing a helmet but the soldier that is holding the little girls hand has no helmet and i wonder why. Maybe because he's the leader or something. I also see that the little girl is like popped out of the picture meaning with the colors how its bright and light. I may believe that the little girl is going with the army guys, or i can also say weather it's wrong or write the little girl might be lost or something.
i see a little girl dressed in a blue dress that is holding a military men hand while walking down a street. it looks to me like they are holding some fake guns, and also it looks like they are trying to recreate a battle from the past.
@javon why do you think it is a fake gun and what is telling you that they are recreating something? It just doesnt look fake to me.
