We can see that the man in the middle have a magazine and its caver is about astronauts put the flag on the moon. The astronauts put he flag on the moon is on 1969. Thus, the time of this picture is about this time.What'more, because of the reaction of the glass, we can see the television which is a very old type. It can also show that its a historical picture. Furthermore, all the people were waiting to see the news and which was nation spread.

From looking at this picture, I think that some business just released a phone. The reason I think that is because everyone is confuse and do not know what it is. My group discussed this and we think the crowd is either watching the first moon landing, the astronauts leaving the module and walking around on the moon, the liftoff from the moon or the recovery of the astronauts from their capsule. There are multiple clues suggesting 1969 as the date. The man in the center holds a magazine which reads a U.S. Flag on the Moon. We debated whether that magazine would have been published in advance with the hope that it would happen or if they waited until the Eagle had landed safely. We sort of think that they would have waited since it would have been such a tragedy (or at least a huge failure) if it had not been successful. From this picture we infer that a group of people are outside of a building or establishment that has televisions inside and a speaker on the other side of the glass. Based on the clothes and black and white photo, we are guessing that this event took place in the 1960s. The people in this photograph could be watching something related to the Space Race. We see anticipation, concern and shock on their faces (especially the woman). We also see people with their own radios held to their ear. This is during a warmer month of the year, given that no one is wearing a jacket and many have their sleeves rolled up. We see the word "LOWER" on the far right arrow. All the arrows are written to be read from the street. So, our final guess is that this is happening midday during a work day and the news of the Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin as the first man in space to orbit.

In this picture I can tell that there is a group of about 15 people that are peering into a shop or a room from the street window an it looks like they are almost or surprised of what are seeing occur inside. I also think that it is in the mid 1960's because of their outfits and hairstyle. I feel as if this is one of those stores that you see in older movies, where they have all the radios or the television sets in the windows playing music or something. Another thought that I guess could be a possibility is an election poll because of the little box in the corner, but I do not believe that is it. What makes me think of the window televisions is that normally they would stand in front of the window during an important news announcement that they would display. This was in the early 19 hundreds, but they didn't become more affordable until later, which makes me think this is later in the twentieth century. The clothing and the glasses most of the men are wearing are also good indicators of the time period.

By the diversity of people, it's a news story with wide appeal (not sports). My guess - their watching the Apollo 11's astronauts return to earth on July 24th, 1969 at about 1pm.

I think this photo was taken in the 1970's when Apollo and his crew went to space for the first time and put his flag on the moon. I think that's whats going on because they used to have TV's out for people in public to watch through the glass and that's what it looks like everyone is doing. also the photo is in black and white so that makes me think its older and if you look closely you can see a news paper at the bottom right area of the screen and you can read that it says a U.S flag on the moon so I think they are all watching the rocket fly into space so that they can put the flag onto the moon.

From the news paper I can deduce that it is 1969, a year synonomous with the infamous moon landing. Since the headline is US Flag On The Moon, I am willing to bet this is within hours to no more than one day after the moon landing.

On the news paper, it says “U.S flag in the moon” so in most probability they are watching a moon landing, which the most famous moon landing back then was with Neil Armstrong, so they are most likely staring at the tv which is channeled to show the live landing on the moon of Neil Armstrong back in the 1960’s.

Most of the people look astonished and impressed.
@Miss Lindrose's 5th Grade Blue Group We are a 6th grade class in California and we did not notice Apollo 11 in the newspaper. WE did think that probably they were listening to a speech by MLK or JFK. We were also amused by the TV in a box and the radios. We also noticed that there were no African Americans or other POC. That was shocking to us. Everyone looks concerned.

There are a lot of people looking ate the TV's being exposed in the store. I say that there were televisions by the reflex of the window. Judging by the quality and colors of the image, the way that people are dressed, and the television models, the object was kind of a new thing. People look worried, they are probably watching the news with some really bad and worrying news; the man in front is commenting on something and the guy next to him is listening to the radio, what makes it look like they are really worried about whats going on.

My theory is that the people are watching an event on a television through the window of a store. The clothes, hair styles, and color reflect the 1960's, so it likely occurred then. The crowd must have gathered for a monumental event to be in such high numbers, and their expressions make it seem as though a tragedy has happened. This leads me to conclude that the crowds are watching coverage of John F. Kennedy's assassination, perhaps the only tragedy of the 60's that elicited such coverage and reaction from citizens.

We believe that the people in the picture are ongoers that are looking at a television in a building. We know this because of the reflection in the glass. We think they are feeling shocked and depressed because in those old days a president was killed and we think it took place in the 60's or 70's. We know that it takes place in those days because the picture is black and white, also the way they are dressed and their hair. Probably, they might be in front of a TV store because there are reflections of TV's on the glass.

I think these people are gathered around to watch the first spaceship launch to the moon. I can infer this because of the newspaper the man is holding, and the reflection of the TV's on the window. They are probably watching it on TV. All the people we can see are dressed up very nicely. Maybe they just got off work and are watching it through this window to watch it on time.
Looks like a people who are about to go to work and they stopped to watch the news. Something in the news is sad or depressing. This is why they look sad or emotional.

One observation I made is, the old man in the dead center is holding a paper that says “U. S flag planted on the moon!” from this I can claim that it takes place sometime in the sixties. There is also a man listening to a transistor radio, further evidence pointing towards taking place in the sixties. It is possible that they are watching apollo 9 or 12 coming back to earth.

I think this was in 1960 because the dude in the middle has a paper. They are look at the tv because there is a reflection. The lady mouth is open and her hand is on her head. They may be watching American landing on the moon. Or they may be watching John F. Kennedy's death. lady'sare looking
There's a group of people standing outside of a glass wall staring at something inside, which I'm guessing is a TV because there's something in the bottom right, which I'm guessing is the top of a TV. They all seem to be business or office workers, except for the elderly woman in the front, who seems to be wearing a sundress along with a sun hat. The man wearing the grey suit holding his wrist seems to be holding a news magazine about the U.S. planting the flag on the moon, so maybe they're all watching something about the space landing. There also seems to be something on the glass, but I can't tell what the words on the arrows say.
The article is about the first spaceship that was to be launched to the moon. This can be seen by the man who is holding a newspaper stating that there is now a U.S. Flag on the moon. Though some of them do look bored, and some of them excited so maybe its something entirely different that they are looking at beyond the glass. That is what I think is going on in this picture. I think that this picture was taken a long time ago because it's in black and white.
I think that all these people are here to get something from the store that they might not have. Maybe technology that they don't have like cars, tv's, or maybe a tragic event happened in the store. I think this because some people in the crowd are shocked, saddened, and concerned. All their eyes are focused on one thing in the store.
I think what is going on in this picture is that there are people waiting for doors to open so they can vote because theirs stickers on the windows and it looks like arrows pointing at a box and there's a guy holding a paper that says something about war on it, he probably studied about something because they have to vote for something very important.
What I see in this picture is a lot of people in front of a building, looking through a huge window and staring at something on the other side. I also noticed a black object in the window. It looks more like a phone. It also has arrows surrounding it. Is this a new phone product and people want to see it? Or are they just watching someone or something?

Reading over your comments, I'm struck by the diverse ideas surrounding the people in this picture, the time period, location, and the men and women's focus of attention. There are distinct observations such as clothing style and magazine cover indicating a dated time period, and most of you agree that this crowd of people are concerned, worried, shocked, and/or amazed. There is a story being told here with American culture of a certain time reflecting myriad character traits and plot narratives.

I believe the people in this picture are gathered around a store that sells TV's. I believe the news channel is on and something important just happened. I think this because the crowd is diverse. One thing everyone does seem to have in common is their clothes. They seem to be wearing really nice clothing. Suits, dresses, and hats. It might be in the middle of the day during working hours, since everyone looks so professional.
There is a large group of people staring through a window and they appear to be watching something very intently. So i believe this picture was taken around 1960's becasue of the black and white film and there is a man smoking a cigar which was common around this time-also the clothing they are wearing is 60's themed. Another detail I noticed is that they are all white-or at least appear to be. There is a man holding a brochure for the world new in the front. In conclusion, I believe these people are looking into a store because there is a new product that they have never seen before and they want to know what it does.

Some of the people don't look happy because they probably hearing something on the news that was bad and it looks like it took place in the 60's because on hoe they dress and the old building in the background.
I think that in the picture there might have been an evacuation of some sort. I can see the people in the picture are dressed formally and nicely which tells me that this might have been some sort of business and the building was evacuated. The people all look annoyed and surprised and they look like they might be observing the damage done in whatever disaster there might have been.

All of the individuals portrayed in the image are dressed formally as if they have recently gotten out of work or some other event which suggests that the event being depicted in the television is momentous enough to garner their attention. The lady found at the front of the crowd appears almost astonished or pleasantly surprised by the event that has recently occurred, further suggesting the significance of the event being discussed on the television.

This picture is from the 1980s and they are looking at the brand new phone that America just invented. The people are looking at how the phone works. They want to get it cause they are looking at ads the people say that they will have enough money. The people just want the phone so they can see what it does there all just staring at it.

in the picture, a group of people form a somewhat broad range of ages and gender are looking at one singular thing in the store. the people seem to be waiting, some look bored, some look worried. although we can't draw the exact conclusion as to what they are looking at specifically, it seems to be of significant importance. something that is worth spending time looking at and wanting on.
I think it's a new store selling new items that the people have never seen and people are gathering to take a look at it. I think this because on the window there is something taped and arrows pointing at it it may be some thing new that they can only get at that store. I believe this is a picture of people watching a TV inside of the building. The TV is showing the first astronauts to the Moon returning to Earth. This is because one of the people up against the window is holding a pamphlet that indicates that there is a U.S. flag on the Moon and that this is new achievement maybe even so new that the people who put it there have not even returned to Earth.

I think that the people are either impatiently waiting for something because they all look like there annoyed. Or they are watching something because in the glass I see what looks like a T.V. One of the guys in the front has a book that says U.S. news on it, maybe they are people from the news, or newspaper company. They are all higher class people because they all are dressed professionally, or nicely. The women in the front has the look of shock on her face, maybe whatever she is waiting on or is watching shocks her. It might be day outside because one of the guys in the back looks like he is wearing sunglasses. They might be watching the news, maybe something terrible has happened because of the looks on their faces.
This photo was taken in the 1960's because the little booklet that the man is holding says "A U.S. flag on the Moon." The people standing around the window are looking through with faces of shock because they are watching the flag being placed on the moon. I think this because the holes in the window might be their so they can hear the people announce that they have landed on the moon and because of the booklet.
We have a few different idea about what is going on in the picture.
-We see a group of people who are dressed up and are upset and shocked because a clothing store has closed. The store could have closed because it was vandalized.The store could have new owner and the hours could have changed. We say that it takes place in the 1950's or 1960's because of the hairstyles.
-Another idea is that this group of people are watching election results on a storefront tv. Their expressions are mad and aggravated.

It seems as if they are watching something really important to our history. As you can see the old man is holding a news paper and everyone around him has their focus on the television. It also seems right around the time a world war was going on or maybe the first flight to the moon. Just something that made history.

Many of you are interpreting the expressions on peoples faces as concern, confusion, and possibly even shock. @Alan and others are in agreement that the newspaper in the hands of the man central in the image with news of, "A US Flag On The Moon", identifies a particular time in history - July 1969, while @Bill suspects they may be watching news of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. What more can we infer?
these people appear to be watching something through a window. At first i thought that this was a store opening, or something like that, but i have never seen this big of windows in a store, and this sort of crowd at a store opening. So then i thought that it could be a place for people to view something happening that could be dangerous or harmful to the public. There seems to be a few official looking people holding walkie-talkies, and a thing on the window that appears that you could talk through it. I think that this is a big public event as well, because a guy is holding a paper about it, most likely.
I think that these people are watching something very important in our history, of some sort. I see a speaker or remote control that has four arrows pointing at it, that each say something-maybe a warning. I see a man holding a newspaper that says "U.S. NEWS" so it is a huge thing. My students thought, Student 1: In this picture it looks as if the people outside the window are watching something on the other side. Considering that one of the men is holding a paper about the moon landing, this has to be somewhere between 1960's and the 1970's. The tabs on the window say something about "turn" and "select" and there are 3 T.V. reflections in the window and a screen that is turned on with a speaker inside the desk in the corner. 2 of the men are holding radios up to their ears. Behind them there are 2 buildings, one that looks more official like a bank and the other has 3 numbers on it which means since they are smaller numbers it is probably closer to the middle of the city or town. I feel as if they are watching something being broadcast about Neil Armstrong's moon landing. It's something publicly intriguing because of the group of people watching it so it has to be something that matters to the people watching it. Student 2:I believe this picture was taken in 1968 - 1972. there is a man holding the newspaper, It says something about a man landing on the moon. There are lots of women and men standing in front of a glass window. If you look close you can see 2 TV reflections. I think that they are watching the men landing on the moon. Another reason why I say this there are a few people that are listening to radios.

Even though I am too old to be a student, I cannot resist responding.
Although I initially wondered whether this was a photo from November 22, 1963 (the Kennedy assassination), the copy of U.S. News and World Report in the one gentleman's hands proves that this was from Apollo 11 moon landing in July 1969. The people are all gazing through the window of an electronics store at a TV screen.
I will guess that this is not the day of the moon landing itself, but rather the splashdown upon Apollo 11's return. First, the magazine refers to a flag planted on the moon. I doubt the magazine would have referred to that in advance of the landing. It was a dangerous mission that was not certain to succeed. Second, the members of the crowd all have concerned looks on their faces, not celebratory ones. They are waiting for the splashdown to occur, but it has not yet and they are reserving their celebrations until it is certain that nothing went wrong.

Everyone in the picture appears to be either shocked or concerned or confused. I know this because the lady in the front has her mouth hanging open and her arm raised in surprised. I think that this is taking place in the 1960s I know this because the way the man with the newspapers glasses look old. Their ties with the with the clip in it because that is what they wore in that time period, I think that they are watching the assassination of Martin Luther King because that happened in that time period and they are drawn to the tv in the right hand side in the bottom corner and their more people trying to crowd the little tv.

The photo looks to have been taken in the 1900's because of their attire and the quality of the photo.(black & white) I think that the people that were captured in this photo were watching news on a T.V. The man in the middle is holding a news paper that has an article labeled "A U.S. FLAG ON THE MOON." Not only does that tell us that this photo was taking a while back, but it also was a pretty big/important part of history.

Everyone in the pictures appears to be shocked, confused and concerned i can tell this because the lady has her hand on her had and there's a man that has the newspaper and wondering. I also know that the people are from 1960 because of the way people are dressed and the way they group up.
The people are watching the landing on the moon or the return home of the astronauts. One of the men has a newspaper in his hand. The headline says, “A U.S. Flag on the Moon.” On the window, there seems to be a remote control, with arrows pointing to it try me. The remote must be a new invention being sold. The people are not interested in it. The window most likely has a row of televisions in it that the people are intensely watching. Several people have radios in their hands. Based on the newspaper and their concerned faces, the people are most likely worried about the safe return of the astronauts to Earth. None of them seem to be in a rush. They want to know what is going on. The people in the back row are looking over the shoulders, trying to see what is happening.

Details like this enhance the stories we tell and write. How might we use describing words to bring out the small details of this image? I think that this was set in 59 because you can see someone holding a newspaper with "A U.S. Flag On The Moon." I think they could even be looking at the moon landing through the window. I think they are also in New York City because I see a bank which leads me to believe that they are in an urban city.

In this picture, there are two women and the rest of the people are men, and all of them are dressed very nice. I think that they are looking at pictures of someone who recently passed away, or looking at their belongings, because they all look sad.
I believe that men and women are watching a big sports event and that their preferred team is losing. I believe that this event may be the Superbowl, due to the fact that this photo was taken in the United States. This event could also be related to baseball, as it used to be a popular sport in the United States.

This means that they would have already landed on the moon because they can't predict the future. They all have anguished faces glued to possibly televisions behind the window.
I think these people are from the 1980-2000s. I think they are waiting for a new thing which is a phone. I think so because there is a thing on the glass of the place.

I Think they’re watching something interesting , that could be clothes , furniture etc or a brain new stuff and they’re attentive.
They are all looking at something and really focused on it. Itś a big crowd of people and it might be art, tv, or technology. They are really focused on it.
I see a lot of people standing in the front of a store and surprised by the price of something expensive and they are reading something behind the glass.
I can see that these people are watching the television that is on the right side, it is seen that they are impressed, I think they are impressed, I think it is in 1960-1970 because the middle man has a brochure about the first trip to the Moon is probably in 1969 when it was the first trip to the moon. What catches my attention is the lady in the hat because, how is she holding the hat?
I believe that in this picture, the people who have troubled faces are just hearing about the news of the Pearl Harbor bombing in Hawaii. This is because the clothes that the people are wearing seem to be around the period of the 1940's and 1950's. In addition, all of them have troubled expressions indicating that they have watched something that is either tragic or puzzling. It appears that they are all looking/examining something that they all find interesting or odd due to the expressions on their faces. The older man in the front wearing the suit and glasses is holding what looks like a brochure from U.S NEWS that states a flag has been placed on the moon. I believe this photo was taken in 1969 because this is the year the U.S landed on the moon. The fact that this photo is in black in white also adds to my assumption that this photo is older.

they are watching the Apollo 11 fly up to space because in the old days alt of people didn't have television so they would go to stores and watch live events. The reason I think that it was Apollo 11 is because there was a ton of people watching one thing and that only happens when there was a huge event going on. As you can see all their eyes are following the same thing.

I know this because its black and white and they dress different then us now the pic hand a old box tv in it and everyone is looking at the same thing and they all look shocked and focused on the tv i think it's about some important news because the people looking at the tv look really focused, it could be the death of JFK or MLK or the moon landing.
I think that maybe you are watching something very interesting behind the glass, for example, new technology or maybe there is a TV with some news or some game.
These people might be outside of a store that sell TVs watching the moon landing based on the newspaper and the expression on these peoples faces.
I see people standing behind a glass and they are looking some type of entretened things. There are some sticky notes in the glass and one thing that it doesn’t look really good in the picture. Maybe they are looking for some kind of job.

@VTS Moderator The moon landing, and storm broadcasting are two good possibilities. Everyone in the photo seems to be a business person, instead of a labor based job, and that could help give something about the time on when it was taken. I feel as if the moon landing is the best possibility
@VTS Moderator I believe that your first 2 guesses listed are the most likely of the 5 you stated due to the fact that the setting being the side of a street makes it highly unlikely they would be displaying artwork there. It could potentially be the unveiling of new technology, however the setting also does not seem quite right for this because that would more likely be conducted in a building and not on the side of a busy road. The setting is also very wrong as is their expressions if they were at a celebratory event.

I think that these people are watching the t.v.'s that are talking about the astronauts landing on the moon and were just on their way to work and noticed.

In this picture, the newspaper says "A U.S. flag on the moon." Meaning that this picture is from 1969. The women in the middle seemed to be shocked. They might be watching Neil Armstrong land on the moon.
These people are watching a man land on the moon. I know this because the man wearing the suit jacket standing in front of the window is holding a brochure that reads “a U.S flag on the moon. In addition, the woman next to the man in the suit jacket is very wide-eyed and has a surprised look on her face. There are several people holding radios as well as a speaker on the outside of the window so they can hear what is happening. This event is taking place during the 1960s. I know this because of the hairstyles and clothing of the people attending the event seem much older. This photo is set in a city. I know this because many people are gathered around a storefront window. In addition, there are buildings in the background, and the people in the city indicate that they are in a city because of their clothes. The attire they wear are of high quality, and city people are more likely to own these clothes. Based on the evidence these people have gathered at a storefront window in a city to watch the first man land on the moon in Us history.

@Hayden F I definitely agree that they are watching something to do with the moon landing and it is placed sometime in the 60's because that's when the moon landings took place, and the style can give us more evidence to that assumption. I also agree that it was in the city.
@Emma AOSE has noticed that while a large group has gathered, it's fairly homogenous, e.g. mostly men, with the exception of a couple of women. What more can you find?
There is a group of people staring directly in front of them. There is glass blocking them. It looks like a picture from the 1960s because the picture is black and white and the fashion is very 60s. Everyone is very focused and looks like they are staring at a tv. I think that they are watching the moon landing because that was very televised and everyone watched it. I remember that people all gathered around tvs and watched the landing all around America. Also a man holding a newspaper has astronuts on it.
In this picture there appears to be a crowd of people standing behind a glass window. They all seem to be looking at something quite seriously. The women in the middle seems to be looking astonished. They are all wearing quite outdated clothing and are dressed rather fancy compared to modern day attire, this leads me to believe that this was taken in the late 60s. The man in the front to the right is holding a newspaper and the headline says "A U.S. flag on the moon." The group might be watching the moon landing or a report on it on TV screens in a display of some sort. There is also a box in the screen with arrows pointing to it, this could be a button.

Something bad is happening on TV
@Mr. C's 8th grade class hello and thanks for joining us! Can your class expound a bit on what it sees that makes it think something bad is happening on TV? What evidence in the image can your students find to support that interpretation? Do some students have a different opinion, and if so can they find and describe counter-evidence?
We think this is taken in the late 60s probably 1969 during the moon landing or right after since the man is holding the paper announcing that. Black and white photo. There is a TV is reflected through the window so we think they are watching coverage of the moon landing.
Attached to the window maybe is a remote for the TV? (thing with arrows pointing to it)
Looks like they are in a city (NY or Chicago) based on the background buildings.

Sounds like the class is puzzling over where this image was taken, as well as some of the details--What are those arrows pointing to? How is that hat not falling to the ground?

Thanks to our contributors who are pointing out some finer details in this image. Several students have pointed our attention to the bottom right quadrant where we see a gentleman who is wearing glasses holding a “U.S. News and World Report” publication. Just to the right of that man’s hands, we see a reflection in the window of what appears to be a large television screen and its dials. What more can we find?
In the picture, we see a group of people watching what seems to be a tv behind a window. There are stickers on the window which seem to say "Turn sound on and off". In front there's a man that is holding a magazine that says " A U.S. Flag on the moon". Since they're watching so intently we're guessing they're watching the Moon landing.

I believe that something strange or bad is going on through the window that all the people are looking through. I think this because people are making weird facials.

It looks like the group of people are looking at something behind the wall of glass. Maybe a store? Or one of those "viewing-station"-type things? There is a TV, but it doesn't look like it's on. Maybe it's a new model of a TV? Or maybe its something they're looking at on the TV that's the reason for why they have the strange looks on their faces.
in this picture i see a group of people trying to see something through a glass wall. the picture doesn't show it. i also see a reflection of a television you can also see a man holding a newspaper of the about the news of the U.S.. so what i think they are doing is trying to watch or see something through a wall that is really exciting
This picture looks like it was taken in the 60's based on the fashion but also the newspaper a man is holding that says, "A U.S Flag on the Moon". I know the Moon landing occurred in 1969, which proves that this picture is taken in the 60's. I notice also that there is something on the glass window of a build with arrows pointing to it, I have a feeling maybe it is a picture from the moon landing as it looks like a piece of film with a little peep hole over it, big enough for an eye. So I think there are Crowds around this store maybe looking at tv's which are re-playing the moon landing, and also to look at the picture of the moon landing.

We notice that this group of people happen to be staring at something behind a glass wall. We notice there are arrows pointing at something. We think they may be watching something happening on a television, it could be a sporting event, or a big news event. We think they are somewhere in a big city in the US because the man is holding a newspaper that says US News.

Your class has noticed some of the mysteries of this image (e.g. the four arrows on the glass), as well as is thinking about the story that this image is telling. You are also hypothesizing about the setting of this scene. For your students, the publication being held is evidence that this might be taking place in a city. What more can you find?
In the picture it looks like they are looking at at box/ a podium and there is a poster that says the first TV and they are in line for the new tv. How I can predict that is cause at the old lady there are arrows pointing at a little box which could be a countdown for the new item to be released.
My prediction is that they are watching the moon landing. One man is holding a pamphlet talking about the landing and the people's clothes seem to be from the 60s.
@Oscar Barton I agree I think because they all look so worried may mean that they are watching the moon landing, but the moon landing was live, in real time, and the man is holding a newspaper which says how the astronauts got to the moon safely already, so I think they are watching a re-play of it.

In this picture, I see a group of people standing in front of a glass wall. They are all staring at something, but the picture doesn't show it. In the reflection of the wall, you can see a television screen. In another man's hands, you can see he is holding a pamphlet that talks about the moon landing. So, this picture must have been taken around July 1969. Using this information, I believe that they are watching the recording of when the spaceship took off. They are all in awe, because this is unlike anything they have ever seen before.
I think the people are looking at something on a TV or a computer screen. The people look confused yet intrigued on what's on the screen so maybe it's a new discovery of some sort. I think this is early in the morning because everyone watching all the men are is business suits. One of the men are holding a newspaper about a U.S. flag landing on the moon so maybe they are watching the clip of the flag going to the moon.
