Actually, in 1821 New Mexico/Colorado WAS the border between the US and Mexico. Perhaps ye olde great deal maker and his Guiliani henchmen have brokered a "back channel" deal with Mexico to return to the original borders between our countries in exchange for ....nothing. Think of how border crossings would be down if we just reinstated the original border! Trump knows a lot about Mexico, perhaps more than anyone else on the planet. After all, his Trump hotels serve the best taco salad bowls. What more is there to say?

I do wish you would include Samantha Bee in this rundown. Not only is she is pithy and on point, it would also behoove the NYT to include a female voice in this plethora of (admittedly talented) white men...

@KMiles Hey, that's not fair! Sometimes they include Trevor Noah, who is a talented BLACK man!

Actually, there is a naval base in Idaho, on Lake Pendoreille. They use the 1000 foot deep lake to do top secret submarine research. And during WWII, the Farragut Naval Base there was one of the largest naval bases in the United States.

@William Taylor Whoa -- I had not known that. But with all those dams, how do they get ginormous nuclear-powered intercontinental ballistic missile-carrying submarines up and down the Snake and Columbia Rivers? Nevermind. That's gotta be Tip-Top Secret.

The US Navy DOES have a base in Idaho, at Lake Pend Oreille, dangit. The lake waters are very deep.

First of all, that speech at the energy conference sure sounded like a campaign speech to me. Second, I saw video clips on WaPo about protesters in the back and I was struck by how EMPTY the place was (almost half the chairs were unoccupied). All the people were huddled at the front so that the place looked crowded in close up pictures and videos. I wish the media would report on that. It would clearly show that Trump is losing supporters, and that he may be well on his way of becoming what he fears most: a loser.

...let’s hope the hall is half empty for his invitation-only event at Benedict College in South Carolin today. Per another NYTimes article, more than half the seats were reserved for guests and allies of the administration and there were only ten seats available for actual students of the college....

@SYJ They don't even have to report it. Just shoot the photo at the press conference slightly wider or a different angle to show all the "Folks who came dressed as seats in honor of Halloween". Message received.

Stephen Colbert is utterly brilliant.

@Pamela L. -- Colbert - the Treasure I hope we never hafta bury.
