Exciting to read about. But - aren't the fire pits adding to the problem the greenness is trying to repair?

I’m fairly certain that some planters on some rooftops will not have any meaningful impact on air pollution in the city.

While they are lovely, I heard in a lecture years ago you can achieve the same benefits of a garden roof in terms of energy savings by painting a roof white... Don’t know if the figures still work out like that now, but sometimes simpler is better. At least in this case less costly and no maintenance necessary or water consumption.

Up Top Acres in DC is growing food on rooftops all over the city.

Thanks for covering this important topic!

What a wonderful trend! The business school at U. Michigan has a green roof garden. Every hospital and university should have these. More apartments, hotels and office buildings should have them. We also should have floors of vertical indoor gardening like they do in Singapore, making fresh and local produce available year round.
