I am rewatching LA Law to this day. My favorite characters are Stuart and Ann, aka, Michael and Jill. I’m a big fan and of course love reading about them and seeing their home! Everything about their home, life and career’s is wonderful and I wish them the best! I hope they can reprise their roles again if and when LA Law returns. A dream of mine as I age, would be that I’d love to meet them, but don’t think they know where Clovis, California is. Anyway it’s a dream!

Loved that they sourced Craigslist for vintage furniture! I did that also on Craigslist, eBay, and fb marketplace. Wonderful old maple pieces beautifully made, bought for pennies on the dollar. And they didn,t become part of a landfill! Everyone wins!

We also made the New York-to-Easton move about a year ago. I can thoroughly appreciate the love of an antique home, such as the Eikenberry-Tucker home; ours was built in 1800. Easton, even for THIS NY transplant is truly a beautiful and magical spot that embraces its agrarian foundation. I hope they’re enjoying it as much as we are.

First saw you in Michael Weller's Moonchildren--a wonderful play for its time with an extraordinary cast led by Alan Schneider.

I don’t understand why this story about an avid cook and food author doesn’t have a photo of the actual kitchen, just the dining room table, a cook book and a knife close up! Strange.
Cecilia (Miami, FL)
@Bubbles So True !!! I want to see Michael's kitchen!!!
mark (boston)
Yep. The barn is a beauty.
LM (Maryland)
The house is gorgeous as is this couple, who appear not to age!
DS (Montreal)
Beautiful, charming home.

That article was a balm for these fraught days ... thank you. So nice to read about intelligent, classy, happily married people in a beautiful home. Wishing the Tuckerberrys the best, in Connecticut and in the theater.
Michelle (Vista)
I want to know more about her drumming now!

What a nice slag-glass chandelier above the dining room table. Yes, it does seem like a lovely house and place to live.

That pool does look wonderful.

A lovely home and an article that needs about a dozen more photos. Random but sincere thought: that bass drum would sound much better if it had a pillow / blanket in there.

Am I allowed to say, these days, "They look great, like they just walked off the LA Law set. Nice to see them again." (Love the house.)

Since California property taxes are essentially frozen from the time you buy the house, I didn't understand the part about their Big Sur and Mill Valley properties being too expensive to maintain, unless they are talking about upkeep. I mean, there are literally people living in $10 million homes bought in 1979 that pay like $2,000 a year in taxes. Which is why California public schools and colleges, among other things, have gone way down hill since Prop 13 came into being in 1978.
Jsailor (California)
@Jonahh You are so wrong. Prop 13 allows the assessed value of the property to be increased by up to 2% per year with an overall limit of 1% of the assessed value. And it allows local districts to assess taxes approved by a 2/3 vote for schools and neighborhood improvements. As for your mythical $10 million home, I bought my house in 1994, it has an assessed value of $1.5 million, and I pay $21k in taxes per year, which increases every year even though my income is fixed.
Liz Randal (Berkeley)
@Jonahh I don't know where you're getting your information about California property taxes, but you're wrong. They are not frozen. We bought our house in 1984 and were immediately taxed at more then 1%of the selling price, $1200 annually, because of additional local taxes. We're now paying $10,000 a year.
MTS (Kendall Park, NJ)
@Jonahh They are not "frozen", but increases are strictly limited. Our neighbors across the street (outside SF) include an couple in their 70's who have been there for 40+ years and, next to them, a young couple with two toddlers in a much smaller house. Yet the young couple pays 50% more in taxes. Ignore the other commentators. NJ residents would kill to pay as little as they do.

My uncle, Ralph, was Ms. Eikenberries mother's second husband. She was an extremely talented textile artist who spun her own yarn and then wove it on a beautiful loom. I see elements of Laura's sense of style, and her love of trees, in Jill's home. It was lovely to see this update on their home.

So glad I made this the first article I read today; a much more positive way to start the day. Lovely couple, lovely home.
DB (Vermont)
Yes, I've always liked Easton and Redding. And when I was growing up in an adjoining town they were regarded as somewhat tonier, where the richer relatives lived. Meanwhile I ended up living in a converted deer camp embedded in the forest in Vermont and that's pretty darned nice too.
Kahman (The 'burgh)
I recognize that knife! It's from M.O.R.A., a wonderful store near Les Halles. I found the store from an article in the Times. I bought several knives that look exactly like that one except I like to remove the oxidation.
scott t (Bend Oregon)
What a nice home. I can see that their wages for a television show was slightly more than minimum wage.
JKN (Florida)
Loved both of them on LA Law. Love even more that they've been together for over 45 years and have defied the Hollywood stereotype.
MD (Cromwell, CT)
The joy of country living cannot be understated. I have the CT River to one side, a state forest on another and farmland with stables on the a third side. Beats any multi million dollar city penthouse, for a fraction of the cost. I am confident they will continue to enjoy that home. That part of the state is quite nice. The barn looks great. Love the wood.
Russell C. (Mexico)
@MD ...I believe the proper term would be "overstated" not 'understated' in this context. Cheers.
Sandra (Claremont)
Why not more photos! Very frustrating to read about a dining room 'find' and no photo to look at. It's about the house--put in photos of the house!
nancy (Virginia)
@Sandra Don't miss photos 5,6,7&8 in the slide show--all kitchen.
Pamela (Boulder, CO)
@Sandra And no photos of the library, my favorite room in any house.
Allison (Virginia)
@Sandra Did you check out the slide show? There is a dining table there.
