Obviously the guy got his info on the Bears game from the box score or he would have known the Bears offense generally clicked with their backup QB and their defense continues to prove it's the best in the game. That's why Cousins and more so Cook were non factors for Vikings. It will happen again against Carr and Raiders in UK this weekend. I'll put money on it.

The best thing that happened is that Burfict is gone for the rest of the season. If only if it were a permanent ban.

This week shows how parity has infested the NFL. Look no further than the Dallas/New Orleans game.

Love this column! Good, spiky, irreverent humor... particularly on the Redskins and Gruden. More, please...

Spot on article, EXCEPT the one sentence for Bears Vikings should be: So far, Bears with Chase Daniel are a better team than Bears with Mitchell Trubisky.

I just want to add a few things, the broncos record doesn't do them justice for the effort and competitiveness that they display in the past four games now, and I think there will be a quarter-back controversy in Jacksonville
Paul (Canada)
From the opposite angle it looks like the Pats defender was just bracing for contact. Allen lowered his head and helmets collided. It is hard to place blame. It did not look like the Pats defender was targeting. We need to protect against targeting but this just looks like an unavoidable accident. You could blame Allen as much as you could blame the defender.
J (Canada)
@Paul I thought that at first, but the replay shows that Allen lowered his head only slightly. There would still have been helmet contact if he hadn't moved it at all.
Jerk0 McGhee (New Hampshire)
@Paul QB's should slide or be prepared to be hit. He tried for the extra yards and paid the price.
Wayne (Vermont)
@Paul Sorry. Jones lowered his helmet just before contact to inflict injury. Not sure what you were watching. Either NFL deals more with this to protect players or we just stop watching.
Wayne (Vermont)
Jonathan Jones should have been tossed from the game after that hit on Josh Allen. Obviously fines have not been enough to stop the dangerous headhunting. Start throwing more starting players out of the game and maybe that will help.
Basil Kostopoulos (Moline, Illinois)
@Wayne Absolutely. He had plenty of time to prep for that hit and deliberately chose to target that player's head. If that doesn't merit an immediate ejection from the game, I don't know what does. Play hard, but aim to separate the player from the ball, not the player from his health or career.
Marc (New Orleans)
"The Bills . . . were valiant in defeat"! Where is the valor in allowing four interceptions (almost six), five sacks and a blocked punt? The Bills defense and Gore showed up. That's about it.
The View From Downriver (Earth)
@Marc I think the premise is that the Bills defense needs to be taken seriously. On the other side of the ball, however, I am reminded of the sportscaster Warner Wolf and his comment years ago about another New York team: "The Jets have a prevent offense!"
VJR (North America)
Yeah, but great news for Jets fans! The Jets didn't lose (and so they are now higher than Miami in the standings)!
Seth Dressekie (Brooklyn)
Way to look at the bright side :)
Marcus (FL)
@VJR That is a pretty low bar.
Chris (Florida)
@VJR Correction: The Jets are now BEHIND Miami in the first draft pick standings.
terry brady (new jersey)
I agree that it is difficult to swallow but the only NFL story is Brady won another game without his heart-beat getting above 80 beats per minute. Without a TD pass matters little as the 4 wins scream just another wrinkle on how they beat you silly using a full toolbox. I'd bet the house that Brady will acrobatically deliver another unbeaten season. Brady appears unflappable and assured regardless of what comes (next), in three seconds or thirty minutes or next week. Playing against Brady is like going for a root canal or lobotomy. Not easy, not fun and certainly nerve racking. Writers need to craft real stories about the indomitable Tom Brady.
roseberry (WA)
@terry brady New England has never had an unbeaten season, so they can not have "another" one. They've had only one unbeaten regular season, 2007, but they were defeated in the Super Bowl.

Who cares? It's like the Yankees in the 1950s; they were called "IBM", simply because they were so loaded with talent and confidence. Winning so many World Sries then was devastating to the other cities and teams. That was only great if you lived there, as this was before the Dodgers and Giants had left Ebbetts Field and The Polo Grounds.

Also, New Orleans has not lost a Sunday night game at home in the entire time NBC has hosted the N.F.L.’s game of the week, going 12-0 since 2006. Quite a stat.
