Anatomy of a Warren Rally

"Senator Elizabeth Warren’s campaign events frequently dwarf those of her Democratic rivals" It seems biased to report this when Bernie Sanders has crowds of 10,000+ in Brooklyn and Denver. I appreciate the NYT but this is a bias I have noticed in many articles and is a main reason I will not subscribe. I don't want bias for Sanders, I just want a fair representation.

This is sickening. The park service suggested that there could not have been more than 10,000 there. MEanwhile, you haven't covered any of Bernie's large rallies with this kind of respect. I am astonished about this bias. Rallies for Bernie are completely ignored. Bernie got 10,000 in Denver.

Her crowds must be making Trump crazy. Couldn't be happier.

I love your podcast! Today's episode however has me seething. I cannot believe how many times Warren was compared to Trump in this podcast. There is literally no comparison between the two, and to do so even when it's in the context of being about rallies, is irresponsible & sensationalist journalism. I'm very disappointed.

@Jennie I totally agree. I came to this page to say the same thing. Trump garnered approval and huge crowds because of his hateful rhetoric and overly confident / arrogant demeanor; just because Warren is also confident and is having well-attended rallies does not warrant the comparisons that were made in the podcast. They could not be any more different.

All politicians are comparable they participate on the same platform. This is the most immediate reason. Part of the process I’m comparing and contrasting candidates anything else would be irresponsible. The Times, the Media and anyone individual has the obligation to compare and contrast their leaders without bias the same way we pick out fruit. The comparison is necessary whether you agree with it is up to you.

@Jennie I came to say the same thing and am also seething. I may unsubscribe if the NYT election coverage favors only the front-running centrist DNC darlings like last time. UGH

How refreshing. A politician honestly claims to support the diversity of Americans, proposes plans that contain some detail to address needs, actually takes considerable time to be with and meet the people, and attracts 15K-20K attendees at campaign rallies... all without spewing hate. Warren has my primary vote.

This podcast neglects to note that Bernie is attracting equally large (and larger) crowds in comparison to Warren, and a lot of Warren’s platforms are not unique to her alone.

@Jackson ChameleonYes, and it's an oversight to wonder, as the podcast did, if "a Democrat" can attract Trump-sized crowds when Bernie drew large crowds in 2015 and 2016. I was at a rally in Dallas (of all places) in July 2015 where he attracted eight to ten thousand people, by police estimates. And that was early. The numbers got bigger. He may not get the nomination but let's not write him out of history yet.

@Jackson Chameleon Their purpose was NOT to compare her rallies to those of other candidates. It was to compare her rallies to those of Trump, who won the last presidential election and also had enormous crowds at his campaign rallies. Comparing her rallies to those of the other 2020 candidates would have been a different podcast story.
