I think that this picture symbolizes the never-ending war. Sure, wars end, but there will always be another one. We can never truly achieve peace in the world. I'm looking at the picture and seeing all these weapons and vehicles used in war. People are mistaken about war. Ending a war is not peace, it is silence, and there is a difference. You can't achieve peace with violence, it just doesn't add up. Let's say that we did stop all wars. Let's pretend that there are no more bombings, or fighting, or going far away to different places to try and achieve this peace. There would still be a war. There would be arguments and disagreements about how to control the "peace". Or there would be major disagreements on morals and how to go on with life in general. Which ultimately, could lead to another violence-ridden war. There will always be a bigger fish. There will always be another war. Interestingly enough, while there are many vehicles and missiles present in the image, there is a lack of a representation of infantry. The Humvees come close, but are still not completely representative of the boots on the ground. It can be interpreted that the US military is “removed” from combat; warfare, in the mainstream perception, is fought by the US in the protection of heavy armor or from the safety of being very far away from the action. The existence of such highly advanced vehicles and technology has put them at the forefront of popular depiction of the US armed forces.

I think the picture represents war and it's inability to end. There has never been a time that I know of where there wasn't some type of war going on. The image is weapons of war infinitely revolving showcasing the never ending cycle. The background is red and red is a color associated with rage and passion. Ares, the greek god of war's signature color was red as well.
Bella Steiner (Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC)
I believe the theme behind this image is that war is forever, no matter how much we protest it. We fight so hard to end fighting, but it’s a war within itself. In our world today, we hide behind what others are saying, and use it as our own opinion. In an argument, there’s normally only ever 2 sides, and the other contributing sides, while they may be good points, get tossed to the side and left with the trash. That’s how war is today in our society. It’s two groups (whether it be two people, a religious group, or an entire country), arguing and fighting for someone else’s opinion. We’re stuck in a continuous cycle, and without the weaponry to break that cycle, we will forever be caught up in our opinions and how they matter more than anyone else’s. We so often see opinions as two rivaling sides, but why can’t we take those two sides, and combine them into one? If people could join forces and figure out how to include all opinions in a decision, that would be a big enough weapon to kill off conflicts created by rivaling opinions.

What I see in this image is a red background and helicopters, missiles, and tanks are going in a infinite loop pattern. What I think the image is trying to say is that war and fighting never ends in this world and that war will be going on and on forever. The reason I say this is a war image is because that these vehicles are used in war. I think this image relates pretty well to the society or our world today because in this world we still have a lot of problems and wars going on. I don't think I relate to this image a lot because I don't participate in wars. My personal opinion of this image is that it's true and that war almost never stops and is always ongoing.
Mohammed alkofair (Saudi Arabia)
This image is showing that war is Infinite which means war goes forever and never stops, it can relate to our society now because there are wars almost everywhere in the world fighting to either defend themselves or a country trying to take another countries land personally I cannot relate to this because I haven’t been in a situation where I’ve been in a war or surrounded by it, my opinion on this message is that we As people Should come to agreements instead of fighting and getting into war because war doesn’t solve everything and people die from it and lose their lives (work, family , friends ) from it so I think wars should stop.
Haidar al osaif (Rais Dammam)
This image shows society's endless use of guns and war machines. It also shows how every conflict that happens in our modern world ends up in war.
Anas Alqarni (KSA)
This image represents machines guns for wars, it shows that the wars are endless with these guns. As also the picture is moving infinitely around, that means that they will never end. There could be problems to solve this issue but machine guns will never end.
Rayan (ALmotawa)
I think the picture means that in these days wars is always going on.these machines play a big part in the amount of death rate, lands and resources that were destroyed in our world. I think that problems and conflicts should never bring up wars. Wars and the usage of destructive machines should stop.so we can live a peaceful, clean, happy life.

Everyone dreams of owning or controlling everything but, some don’t just dream. These people that don’t dream, act instead. The problem is that not all of them can control everything at the same time. The solution to this “problem” is to have power and forcefully stopping the other which is essentially war or scaring the other by overpowering them. So when asked what this image is saying my answer is that this image is expressing the thought of endless war or that war is infinite. War in this case, can also just mean military power and not necessarily the action of war. Like I mentioned the only way to achieve this goal is by having power which is basically military force. So, now we go through the infinite cycle of developing better military technology to beat all the other people who share the same dream and have similar power. Today it would be extremely difficult for complete control of everything, so people have turned to another tactic, influence or the sphere of influence as well as indirect rule. Instead of controlling everything people would have influence over it. This in my opinion is just a different version of control. The only way to have influence is by having power and to have power you require military strength. Which just brings us back to this idea that war and the strive for power is infinite. As a result I do agree with the message of this image.

I think the picture says that wars will not stop and there will be constant pain to all people.
Ali (Saudi Arabia)
The picture shows how most of the countries think they all want power, and that brings a lot of wars to a lot of countries.
Khaled ali (Dammam, saudi)
It shows how mankind continues to make new machines for human harm most of the time like tanks and missiles so I think we need to stop to make these potentially harmful machines
Faisal (RAIS Dammam)
I think the picture means that the wars are immortal and painful. it relates to all the countries that are fighting for resources and more. I can relate to it personally. my opinion about this massage is that we need to stop wars and help each other.
Abdullhadi (Saudi Arabia)
I think the picture says that the government and military will endlessly rule ower countries
Jake Bigalke (Hoggard high school In Wilmington, NC)
If I was to say what that picture stood for, I would say that it means that war is painful constant. It is a timeless “hobby” taken by all governments throughout earth's history. The longer wars go on, the more technologically advanced we will get and the more we will get used to it. There isn’t much else to say besides that we need to stop fighting and start helping.

I think that this photo represents the never-ending cycle of war. The use of these war machines draws a great amount of attention to the idea that these machines will most likely never stop being produced. These weapons of destruction play a major part in the war and can completely change the outcome if used strategically. With the use of all these weapons come lots of bloodsheds, which I feel is represented by the red background. The main reason that the United States is in these endless wars is to make sure that they don't “give up its pursuit of global dominance.” These constant wars that we are stuck in are a giant drain on the United States resources. To end these wars, the U.S. must give up the hunger for “global dominance.” The U.S. must maintain a strong enough presence in some areas to try and achieve peace.
Michael Floorfies (NWHS)
Standing Together Some people believe that when there is a conflict, We should stand and fight. Even though we know that there is a better way to solve these quarrels, we still continue to pursue what we know isn’t right. Life will never be about just fighting. It’s all about the things you perceive and how you put a great deal of effort into your own personal writing. Guns and war can be abstained, So that the human population can continue to thrive where it has always remained. People are sacrificed each and everyday. Just because we are corrupted to believe that there isn’t any other way. Preventing conflicts may be hard to achieve. But if there are just enough people who want change in this world, Preventing conflicts will be easier than anyone has believed. Someday there will be nothing to control, The human race will come together and live as a whole.

What do Hummers, Tanks, and Missiles have to do with an infinity symbol? The infinity symbol implies “never-ending war.” It seems like we have been at war for ages. Do you remember a peaceful time in your lifetime? I sure don’t. America has been at war for hundreds of years. We have been fighting someone somewhere for 222 out of 239 years. That means that as a country, we have had only seventeen years of peacetime over the last two and half centuries! It seems like we are stuck in a loop: a loop that has us engaged in awful military actions that affect everyone on the globe. I think of Greta Thunberg who recently sparked student walk-outs for climate action the world over. What do the Greta’s of this era have to look forward to in their golden years? Do these war machines affect our global climate? Heck yes, they do. The energy and raw materials to make the machines, the energy and fuel to run the machines, and the manpower behind them is a significant cost to our global climate, not to mention the devastation they create. We can no longer afford to have the luxury of this destruction on our planet. We must demand change. We must make changes to our everyday habits which promote wars and fighting.
Jeff Northwest (Germantown, MD)
This image shows a line of tanks, aircraft, and naval ships spinning perpetually in the shape of an infinity symbol. The image suggests that military spending is both costly and never-ending. For example, in 2019, the U.S. spent $693 billion on the military and has been increasing spending exponentially over the years. Influential world powers like the United States, Russia, and China compete for the newest technology in hopes of thwarting each other's "imperial ambitions." I believe that military spending is both superfluous and expensive. Government funds could be used to provide for needy students or to be given to college students in the form of grants and financial aid, instead of "national defense" in the South China Sea...Military spending is absolutely necessary for a safe homeland but endless and unrestrained expenditure is unwise for the nation.

This picture is a symbol of the endless cycle of war and fighting we face. As soon as one war ends, another must begin in order to keep the American Military Industrial Complex satisfied. "War stimulates our economy! Just try not to think about the people on the other end of the bombs." An important note is that in the picture, all that is being shown is the machines we build. No where do you see the soldier who is in danger inside the Humvee or the family on the other end of the drone's bomb. This is the dissociation between the sale of arms and the human aspect of war that large weapons manufacturers choose to ignore and suppress. Note color choice as well. The choice of red background is obvious, red is often related to violence, war, chaos. The use of black and white weapons symbolizes how we as Americans are detached from the actuality of war; They are "less real" in a sense to us than they are to the people living in countries like Syria. Though this detail is much more subtle I think it is the most meaningful part of the picture. Overall, this picture has a very meaningful message that more and more young people are believing. We demand that our government listen to what we say. The voices of your constituents are more important than money from Boeing or Lockheed Martin.

war is a thing that represents that spongebob episode
Will Fatzinger (Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC)
War is endless, always something going on around the world that will spark up fighting. War has been a part of mankind since we were first on this earth, the first civilization was at war. There is always something that causes unrest. If its greedy people or people that want world domination, or even people are fighting religion vs. religion. Just because someone doesn't have the same beliefs as you. In reality we are all fighting for the same thing, a high power. You would usually think that red is the color of love and passion but it has another meaning. Red is the color of fire and blood and is associated with war, strength, power and domination. The military vehicles moving around in an infinite symbol recognizes that the war is truly endless. Four years ago Barack Obama “denounced the idea of endless war” as he announced that they were putting troops on the ground in Afghanistan and as the U.S. dropped 26,172 bombs on seven countries. This is a good example of how we see that there is a problem and announce it we don't do anything to stop it, we just add more fuel to the fire.
Carter Moses (Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC)
To me this picture represents war and it is trying to portray how war is an endless thing and that we will always need these war machines. The machines in the picture are moving in and infinite sign representing the never ending wars that we have to fight and put our lives on the line for. The color red in background represents blood, war, and negative energy signifying the feelings of war. War has been around since the beginning of time and shows no signs of slowing down. Although It will keep advancing and there will be less and less deaths from war in the future. Wars now are already mostly technology and not as much on ground warfare and this picture shows the technology that we are using. War won't end anytime soon but it will get better
Sahil Patel (Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC)
I believe that the message the image attempts to spread is that war is becoming too prevalent due to the importance of military. The message that this image delivers is vital and all countries should listen to its advice. In order to make this world a more peaceful place to live, tension between countries must be reduced. The only way to reduce tension is to realize that the primary cause of conflict between countries is the military race for better weapons and to reduce military spending. I believe that the advice given off by this simple infinity symbol is deep and provides a valuable lesson that the world really needs: that without decreasing our focus on the military and turning our attention to other issues, countries will continue to experience conflict and chaos in the race for power.
Jacob Savage (Hoggard High School Wilmington, NC)
I think this image is symbolic of how war is never ending and how it just goes around and around in circles forever. The circle of military weapons almost chasing after each other is symbolic of how violence will never stop and we will only get more and more advanced with our weapons which will result in more death and bloodshed (red background). Some think the answer to stop endless war would be to not only bring back troops from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Seria, but for America to “give up its pursuit of global dominance”. We can’t go on forever always fighting other countries even if we have the resources and the manpower to do so, and still be prosperous. As President Trump said in his State of the Union Address, “Great nations do not fight endless wars”. In order for America to give up the pursuit of dominance, we would have to do things like pull troops from Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and many other countries. Countries like Iran continue to disregard our rules and guidelines so I think it would be a mistake to bring home our troops and take the pressure off countries who already have a lack of respect for America. We don’t have to always be in war, but we need to maintain a strong military presence in threatening countries to achieve peace.
Sahil Patel (Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC)
This image shows a myriad of military vehicles and weapons making an infinite loop. These military machines include fighter planes, missiles, hummers, helicopters, and battleships. This image is stating that the use of military machines will never come to an absolute end, as demonstrated by the “infinity” symbol that is created. Additionally, the image is stating that as technology becomes more advanced, the advancement of military weapons will never stop. Newer and improved weapons and vehicles with the power to do more damage will continue being created. This, in turn, will cause war to become more dangerous, deadly, and prevalent. The infinite loop is a true representation of the importance of military in our world today. For example, the military is one of the United States’s top priorities, as proven by the fact that the U.S. spends more on its military than on anything else. However, the United States is not the only country that spends an excessive amount of money on its military. Nearly every country in the world uses a large percent of its GDP on military spending, creating tension between countries to have the more powerful machinery. Every country in the world, including the United States, aspires to become a world power. Due to the fact that all countries desire to have influence over other countries through better machinery, conflict occurs and countries go to war.
Perry Troutman (Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC)
Human beings are known to be at war with one another. Whether in a small argument or in a full fledged war zone, we are still fighting with one another. The infinity symbol is made up of many modern versions of tanks, missiles, battleships, helicopters, and other weapons of war. As long as we keep producing and having these weapons of warfare, war will continue. If you were to remove one of the vehicles from the image, it would still form the loop. Even if you took out all of the weapons, you still have a key component that starts war. You may wonder what that key component is. It’s people. After reading the article, I still things that could go wrong in downsizing our militaries. If we were to somehow achieve world peace, there is always someone out there who would try to stir something new up. There would be conflicts on how to keep the peace. People find a reason to fight. As long as there are people around, there will be fighting. Whether we fight over a small issue or a big one, it’s still fighting. Whether it’s violent or just a debate, it’s still fighting. Whether we win or lose, we will continue fighting. People will always be people, and war will always be war.
Ryder Klein (Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC)
I believe this image demonstrates a strong anti-war sentiment. America has been at war for 93% of its history, fueled by an aggressive foreign policy based on us being the “World Police.” Why should billions of our tax dollars be spent on a military that often doesn’t even directly affect us? When did our military balloon to its current massive size? How can we change our foreign policy to better cater to the average american? Almost 700 billion dollars are spent yearly on our military. That’s third, only behind Social Security and Medicare. Of these three, two directly benefit the average american. As we spend billions on our military, our infrastructure grows old and outdated, people go bankrupt due to an unexpected trip to the hospital, and trillions of dollars of debt remain tied up in student loan debt. So why not downsize our military? In modern warfare, are multibillion dollar supercarriers as viable as multiple, less-expensive vehicles? With all of the money we could save by downsizing our military even 30%, we could improve schooling, healthcare, infrastructure, and quality-of-life for everyone, as well as begin lowering the federal deficit, starting the road to eliminating our nation’s 24 trillion dollars of debt.
Lucas Kruger (Hoggard High School, Wilmington, NC)
I believe that the image represents the never-ending cycle of war. The infinity signs made up of tools of war (Humvees, tanks, helicopters, fighter jets, UAVs, et cetera, et cetera) is a visual representation of the cycle of war. Violence begets violence, war begets war. As sad as it is to say, there, most likely, will never not be a war, in some way, shape or form. Humans are violent creatures, and man is selfish, vain, and vicious. That’s not to discredit the hundreds of thousands of brave men and women who have died fighting for our country, and the countless more who continue to fight. We are indebted to them, and we always will be.
Trey Parkes (Wilmington, NC)
The image is about how countries endlessly fight and we need to find a way to stop it. In the image the war like objects are going in an infinite loop because war keeps on going on and countries keep on fighting and fighting with no resolution. This is very relatable to our common society because America and Iran have seemed to be at war for a very long time. With Little meeting between the superiors of each country it seems to be a war is the only way to solve the problem between the two countries. I feel that if all the endless war could stop and the two countries would meet more often rather than fight and waste their money the world could be a more established place. This article honestly reminds me of the relationship I have with my twin sister. We endlessly fight and try to show each other up. My parents try to find ways to defuse the arguing but we just keep on fighting and fighting. We sometimes will get grounded or get put on dish duty like how Iran and America have to retreat to get more ammunition or troops but we eventually come back and start arguing again. My twn and I compete to see whos the better kid and I feel like that is what war is about, seeing what country has to most most power. Part 1/2
JD (Kauai, HI)
In my opinion, this gif is portraying the endless cycle of war machines and war. There will always be a need for war, which means there will always be a need for war machines such as these. The choice to have the missiles, hummers, and tanks go in an infinite loop shows that this will go on forever. The toll war has, and the use of it.
Ambear (The North Pole)

I feel that this image, of course, depicts the endless war, and how it goes on and on like the constant infinity symbol. in my opinion, we are all fighting for the same thing, a higher power, when in reality we are all equal, and should promote equity, instead of destruction, and poverty. We've become so caught up in this fight for non-existent power, intangible, and pointless. yet we still fight, and the war goes on, and on. in a continuous flow, going nowhere. When will it end?
E (Unknown)
This picture means that war is a vicious cycle that goes on forever. A sideways eight is a symbol which means infinity, but at it's earliest creation it was meant to symbolize a snake eating its' own tail. War doesn't ever stop, even if the actual fighting ends, people will continue to be emotionally and psychologically effected long after the war has ended. The overall meaning of this image is that war never ends. Even if the majority of people desired world peace, there would still be that small percentage of people, sadists, who are actually wired to enjoy destruction, death, and sadness.
Anthony (Kauai)
I think this image is representing the endless loop of war and the red background represents the pain. In our society there we are always reminded of war and the effects it has on people. I personly haven't experienced war but I've seen the effects it has on others. I think that this is a strong message about the infinite loop war is.
Jojo (Planet Earth)
I think this image of the different kinds of machinery that are used in warfare forming the shape of the infinity sign represents the idea that war is a never-ending cycle. Regardless of where the people are in the world or what the conflict is, there will always be a conflict. This image uses the objects such as the airplanes and missiles as symbols of the hate and anger that war is continually causing. The reality of this world is sad: there will never be complete peace. But, in my opinion, this can also be viewed as a positive thing. Conflict means people are standing up for what they believe in. Conflict means the authorities cannot stifle the voices of the dissatisfied public. When absolute peace is strived for, it usually means that the leaders in charge are exerting too much power over the citizens of that country and trying to force everyone to go along with their personal ideas and beliefs. In conclusion, conflict will always be around and despite the horrors that war brings about, it also symbolizes individuality and people standing behind what they feel is right.
Matthew Luhrsen (Wilmington N.C. haggard high school)
I am sure this picture can mean a lot, but for me it means war will always be there and it can't just stop. In this picture the infinity sign means that it's always happening and will continue to happen till the end of time. The tanks, missiles, planes, and the rest means war so mix those two it means war will always happen. So when people want world peace it can’t really happen, why you might ask. Well people can't always get along and that's just human nature. Even if world peace was achieved their would always be something we fight and someone will always oppose the peace. They will want war and others will follow them and them war will start again. Another option is after a long period of peace a lot more people will be poor and the rich even richer because of how many jobs will be gone. And take america, we put trillions of dollars into the army, some of that money may go into the roads and other stuff like that and taxes will go down. But the problem with that is how much money people will have and then the dollar will not be worth a dollar any more so the price of things will go up. So after reading the paper on this picture my thoughts are very different then the papers, in the paper, they think war can stop but I don't I think it's just something that we have to live with. I know I really looked into this picture but that's how deep i think it can go.
Dakota Snyder (Wilmington NC)
Humans are known to fight. Even Cain and Abel, the first pair of brothers on earth fought. In the picture above all of the vehicles are moving in an infinite sign. This tells us war on earth will never end. While evil exists on earth there will always be war. If we want to view the photo from a more modern perspective we see all of these modern vehicles of war. In recent years America deployed its military in various middle-east countries. After many years of fighting America is still there, even though the leaders that ruled these groups have been long dead. As a citizen, I would prefer the taxes I pay to go towards the infrastructure of this country instead of fighting a war that we technically cannot win. I agree with the article, especially the part about us being there might start a new war. Picture yourself being a leader of one of these countries, and then some foreign country plants its military right in your backyard for 20 years. How would you feel?
Jack Huo (Wilmington NC)
This image is conveying the state of perpetual war the United States has been in. The looping infinity symbol consists of modern US humvees, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, attack aircraft, fighter aircraft, destroyers, drones, helicopters, main battle tanks, armored fighting vehicles. Since the birth of the United States, it has been at war or involved in a conflict for the majority of its lifetime, and we are currently at war with several countries to this day. The perpetual state of war is contributed to by the US war industry, and it can be also come to mean that this image depicts the constant manufacturing and usage of equipment and materiel. With the US fighting asymmetric wars in the past decade, it's easy to see why the armor and aircraft are seen so often, and why the infantry are sometimes overshadowed.
Samuel jones (Wilmington NC,)
This image is trying to motion the message of endless or never stopping war. There is the infinite emblem made of war machines in rotation through the symbol suggesting the message of non-stop violence and war with the red background which also sets the mood to not a very easy going or calm mindset. I can see where the author and people reading this can be against the message of non-stop fighting and war. I disagree. I don't think that demilitarizing certain spots in the world will solve anything. In my opinion it will only make it worse. There will always be violence in this world. It is in human nature. it’s in our blood. It is our instincts. We fight to survive and that will never change. This is a subject that I strongly believe in and from my view if you start taking soldiers out of certain countries these same countries don't have the same mind set. Most of these other organizations are built solely for the downfall of other countries, religions and cultures. These countries or terrorist organizations will only see the opportunity of a weak country or take advantage of our lack of presence to attack helpless people even in their own country.
