Anyone who thinks the Browns are out of it after one poorly played game (in which they lost their two left tackles) is as misguided as those who thought they were a lock for the AFC championship. It's a long season.

Why is Tyreek Hill even allowed to play. This is a man who beats his kid, beats his wife. So much for the league's lip service to domestic violence. Pitiful.

@LivelyB Why does Kraft get to keep his team? It's the culture of the NFL. Women don't count.

The perpetual overreaction Monday.

Still smarting over the $580 I was required to shell out for two tickets to the trash known as "preseason football". It's pretty obvious, as one commenter said, that the first three weeks of the season will be the substitute for what used to be the preseason. Maybe by week four we'll see some actual professional football!

Cleveland was no surprise. But, Baltimore looks like the real thing to me. As a life-long Steelers fan, I have started cutting the eye holes out of the shopping bag to put over my head - so I don't get embarrassed. Antonio Brown and the Pats cooked up an effective, elaborate plan to get him added to their arsenal - not that they even needed him. But with him added, I cannot see anyone stopping the Pats.

Cleveland Browns are terrible and mayfield better get his act together ASAP, he will be finished in the NFL real quick, arrogance and obnoxious attitude only goes so far.

@Independent voter It was the offensive line that made Baker scramble to save his life and force throws. He's a legit QB, and will prove it again this year, just as he did last year.

It’s week one. It takes four games to really understand what you have with an NFL team.

Anyone who has followed Mariota has seen what a dismal O-line scenario can do. Even his seasoned guys like Conklin pulled boneheaded back to back penalties negating Mariota’s 1st down efforts. They’ll get Aleena back in 3 weeks and Mariota will be really clocking with his WR’s. Love watch Tenn and Mariota.

Patriots. Super Bowl Champions....again. Nailed on.

Did y'all mean 'steamrolling'?

Watching DeSean Jackson play is as thrilling (to me) as watching ballet. It’s a matter ment of perfection and beauty.

I'm glad to see no mention of the Patriots win - is it because their dominance, er, expected continued dominance, is now taken for granted?
CT (NYC)
@DaveB Odd to expect mention of the Patriots win under Pennington's piece title without taking into account the reek around Brown's acquisition strategy. Another deep stoop, another victory.
Gabrielle Rose (Philadelphia, PA)
Or too boring to print?

What was predictable and born out is that, with the ongoing diminution of pre-season preparation and last minute roster shenanigans, ticket holders are paying regular prices for two or three weeks of training camp quality play.

@J111111 The equality gap is so wide that the season shows every sign of utter boredom. Last year was my first season of NFL withdrawal. This season looks much easier.
