Has anyone ever bought from www.homistbrand.com? And how was the experience? Saw a hammock I want to order.

You've left out Hatteras Hammocks, still the best in the US....( or it this a paid advertisement ?). I've had 2 for more than 25 years.

My grandfather slept in a hammock on his WWI warship, along with the rest of the ratings. Wouldn't he be surprised and amused to see these multi-hundred-dollar versions used primarily for decoration!

We had one up between two apple trees. The branches met overhead to provide shade. It was sublime.

I've had a woven cotton hammock from Mérida, Yucatán, for 30 years. It is a "matrimonial" size so this tall gringa can lay in it crossways, as the locals do. You really have to try them out at a hammock store there, not buy one on the street. You don't want a synthetic fiber, nor an overly open weave or too-small size. I don't leave it outside where sun and rain will rot it, just hang it up when I'm ready for a summer nap. I can conk out in that thing in minutes, it's so cool, comfortable, and cradling.

@Maggie When I bought mine in Merida it was recommended that you do buy the synthetic fiber hammocks as the natural fibers attract mosquitoes. Those who use them on daily basis use synthetic. Roses y Xocolate uses the pretty natural fiber!

Just get a Mexican cotton hammock less than $50. Did you ever sit in someone's hammock in college and thought it was wonderful? It was one of these. Just screw a couple of 5/16" (8mm) screw eye lags into wall studs (pilot hole, soap the threads they'll screw in easier). Add a couple lengths of rope to get the height and angles right (30 degrees is considered great). To try it out for the first time, don't hang it more than a foot off the floor and stick your thickest yoga mat underneath in case you made a mistake. Get a couple of decent carabiners then you can hook and unhook them. For reading, sit 'banana style' with a pillow behind your head to read. For a more prone, sleeping position lay diagonally-- you can get almost flat. The Mexican hammocks are very wide so you can share with a friend. Did I mention they cost less than $50? The Pawley's style is okay too. Why does everything have to be so expensive?

Pawleys Island hammocks are comfortable and affordable. The spreader bar doesn’t totally eliminate the inherent sag.

Good reason to visit San Sebastian, Puerto Rico for its annual hammock festival.

When I purchased my first home, I immediately bought a hammock to fulfill this city-boy's fantasy... In response, my then wife who grew up in the suburbs remarked, "You are a homeowner now, You have no time to be laying in a hammock!"

A hammock with a built in fridge for cold beer would be nice

more silly stuff that I don't have the room or desire to add indoors. I love a shaded hammock outdoors but they are usually less than $100. These seem not only overpriced but not particularly attractive.

Could I purchase these at the Hammock Complex down on Third?

Beautiful! As the numbers of homeless people, refugees and locked up migrants are increasing every day, and affordable housing is vanishing, if not extinct, there is some irony here. Showing the hammock in an indoor sparsely furnished, immaculate room while others are just hoping to sleep safely seems sadistic.

We have three (hand woven in Yucatán) permanently installed, one in the living room: we fight over them. Never use a stand, they’re an eyesore.

One on the deck, another in the boudoir. Fancy living!

We bought two hammocks a few years ago that are made out of parachute material. Very comfortable, very lightweight and can roll up into a small bag the size of a lunchbox. If you may take it with you on vacation some come with tree-friendly straps that safely and securely wrap around a tree and don't cut into it. Happy relaxing!

Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks! Homer, there's four places; there's the Hammock Hut, that's on Third.

You're slipping, some of these are actually affordable.
Rural Farmer (Central New York)
@stan continople You think a few hundred bucks is affordable?
Bello (Western Mass)
What about showing some examples of hooks? Maybe some photos of installed hammocks too, so we can see what a safe installation looks like.
vicky (south carolina)
@Bello I put a nice cotton hammock inside my home this year and got some really nice-looking chrome hardware from the hardware store. You can buy a few pieces if you're worried about length. It looks much better than I imagined and there are no chains or straps - which are okay for outside. If you do it, you'll love it. Also, affordable, nice hammocks can be found online via Amazon if you shop there. Good luck!
Superf88 (Under the Dome)
@Bello Just get the biggest aluminum or steel hooks they sell. Looks like a closed-loop question mark with the round part about as big as a golf ball. They even sell fake fire alarms to hide bedroom hooks.
B. (Brooklyn)
They're just enormous screws with hooks. Nothing to write home about.

No question. Pawley's Island Hammocks are comfortable and last forever. You can also buy metal hammock stand so you won't pull our ceiling down.
