women will always be in charge of fertility, men will try to regulate it and some women will comply. the rest will continue to do exactly what they want to do - this man the fear-based response to this law is very narrow sighted and do not respect the totally of women's power. #resist

Eric Johnson really could not answer the question of why women that have abortions are not considered felons in this legal action. Seems to me he sees women as the "lesser" sex. She cannot make decisions about her body so how can she be held accountable. She cannot have full person hood if we take away her right to decide. Roe really did not give women the right to a safe legal abortion. Roe gave the right to the medical profession to do the right thing with out being arrested. Pro choice arguments need to address this issue. Is the state going to take away the 14th amendment? SHE Decides to carry to term just like she decides if she is going to have sex. If you make the heart beat the only indication of a person, life, baby then what about the woman's heart beat?

The plain truth is that women are not, and never have been, fully autonomous human beings under U.S. law. People like Eric Johnston are simply seeking to reaffirm this fact. Roe was decided on privacy grounds, not on equal protection grounds, and has always been vulnerable, so for several years after Roe, the Equal Rights Amendment continued to be debated and voted on in the states until the deadline for ratification passed. For a while, it really did seem like Roe was "settled law," but now we have a rogue Supreme Court that has no truck with precedent. With the addition of Brett "I Like Beer" Kavanaugh, Roe has no chance of surviving. The time for ERA is NOW.

A woman sponsored the bill and a woman signed it into law. Women are not monolithic. That’s for sure. I dare say in many cases a woman is a woman’s worst enemy.

These phoney religious bigots are not pro life, but phoney hypocrites who are trying to force their extremist views on every one else.

Why are all these politicians pushing this anti-abortion agenda southern men?
Joseph B (Stanford)
Could it be they still believe in slavery?

Another insightful podcast - Thank you New York Times. The thing that I’m most struck by in this abortion debate is that the only side that truly cares about and truly respects life is the Pro Choice side. The Pro Choice people want responsible birth control so that all children that are born are wanted. They want parents to make responsible informed choices about one of the most important decisions - the decision to take on the responsibility of raising a child The Pro Choice people respect and want to provide as much support for the mother and child in prenatal care, post natal care and throughout the years so that mothers may raise a healthy well adjusted child The Pro Choice people support gun control so that children won’t have to worry about being murdered when they are attending school If I had to give up a child, I would give it to someone who really does respect and care for humanity- someone who is Pro Choice.

Repealing RvW will not ban abortion. It will ban safe and legal abortion. Abortions will still take place just like they have since the beginning of time. My body, my choice. And there is nothing you can do about it.
