Asking $1,375,000 for a house in Sea Cliff without a single cabinet in the kitchen. Now that takes nerve.

High taxes that are no longer deductible mean folks will have to cut prices. Doesn't seem to be happening yet.

I suspect the high property taxes, no longer permitted to be fully written off on federal income taxes, will keep these homes, and others like them in Nassau and Westchester counties, languishing on the market.

Bedford House - $899,000 - Taxes $21,000/yr. Gotta love NY.

Actually Bill, I study this issue rather closely and find that for Westchester (and Bedford especially) that 21 k for property taxes really ain't that bad. Quite often in this column you see really nutty taxes in the high thirties and forties for taxes. The price of 899k pretty much reflects the tax rate. The new owner might be able to reduce this by getting rid of the pool after purchase and appealing on this basis and the impact of the SALT removal to the town.

I cannot be the only one who finds it tragic how the owners "decorated" that gorgeous Victorian home...

@Aaron Disagree. I think it’s spectacular. However, I feel the decor of the Bedford home is all kinds of wrong. To each their own.

Truly Aaron, but as my old Latin teacher used to say, "de gustibus non est disputandum"

@Aaron It's called personalizing. Like you, I found it awful. The problem with personalizing a home is when it comes time to sell, far more people are going to be turned off, then turned on.
