We wonder what career these two individuals are in....along with the reason why they won't go outside to read documents if it is so toxic in the room?
They look like they are astronauts because of the emblem on their jackets, they also seem to be highlighting a page possibly taking notes. They also are wearing gas masks and it seems as is it is a smoky room, so perhaps testing the smoke alarm

these two men work for the American government as you can see the flag, they work probably a space station due to the badges that they wear, also the man on the right you can tell that his name are written in a sort of Cyrillic writing most likely Russian. the mask is to keep them from breathing in toxic that is in the air.

We could see two American astronauts as the NASA logo and American flag can be seen on their suits. They're in a small ,cramped room filled with machinery and electronics with smoke everywhere while holding a pen and reading what seems to be a passage or a report. Judging from their oxygen masks we could assume that the gas/smoke is poisonous.
I think this might be a test or training held by NASA for the astronauts. It simulates the situation in which the space station is damaged or facing some sort of malfunction. It aims to train the astronauts to concentrate and make a precise and fast analysis of the situation under harsh conditions in which their lives depends on.

In my opinion two man in this picture one of them is a student and another one is a teacher. I confirm that name on the uniform belongs to the men who is wearing it. Firstly, Douglas H Wheelock he is an astronaut of the International Space Station. Moreover he is a former pilot of NASA but these days he is working in Colombia University of New York city as an Engineer Professor. However, in this picture, I think the professor Wheelock is training one of his students. Also, they are in the room especially equipped for training's and student who is setting in the left side doing test or quiz I think. Hi! We think that there was an accident with a scientist and this man and woman are trying to see if it's dangerous. They are looking at the scientist's papers. Our answers are somewhat similar because of the nametag on her shoulder, I said that he could have a school and that he is training her on some of the things he learned. I read online that he trained in software and hardware. The smoke around them could mean a machine broke down and he is teaching her, based on the notes, that he is trying to help her fix whatever machine broke down.

There are setting up a bright warning system in order to call Captain Marvel to their attention from the galaxy she is in. Hopefully the message gets through on time as she possible travels the speed of light in order to make it to them at the shuttle. The set off gas in this picture will be used as a distraction so Captain MArvel has enough time to reach her full potential.

I think these guys are astronauts. They have the International Space Station logo on their uniforms. The oxygen might be too thin right now, or there was some sort of gas leak, which would explain the oxygen masks. I think it's more likely that they are actually in space because of the fact that they seem to be doing paperwork, and they probably wouldn't do that in a simulation.

I think that these two people are astronauts. I say this for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they are wearing badges that have a picture of the International Space Station floating above the earth. Secondly, one of them has a name tag that says "Wheelock". I think it is possible that this man is Douglas Wheelock, a famous American astronaut. They also have an American flag stitched on the arms of their uniforms, which is what a classic astronaut uniform includes. I think that if they are in space, they would probably be in the Space Station, given that it seems relatively spacious, well-developed and they are sitting upright without any apparent difficulty. It would make sense that they would be in the Space Station, given of its likeness' frequent appearance on their uniforms. They are probably wearing oxygen masks because the air in there is either not thick and clear enough, there was an oxygen leak, or some kind of dangerous gas was emitted by a machine within the Station.

When looking at this picture, I see a man and women in gas masks. They look to be investigating this situation. While everyone thinks these people work for NASA, it is a different situation. When looking closely at this image, I see the name "Wheelock" multiple times on the man and women's badges. Although I'm not completely sure of what company this is, I do know that they are a Russian space station. They look to be investigating a gas leak of some sort. Knowing that these workers from a space station, they must be in some sort of space shuttle that has had a gas leak or they might even be training for the future.

Ok so I researched further into this picture and I already found out that the man in this picture is Douglas Wheelock when looking closely at the badge she on the uniform. After doing research on him, I found that he works for NASA. I looked to see if there were any complications or training sessions going on at NASA recently that involved Douglas Wheelock. I found articles about NASA workers investigating problems caused by a hydrogen-fuel leak. There was supposed to be a shuttle launch but was postponed to next week because of a hydrogen fuel leak. NASA was sending a space shuttle with the first humanoid robot bound for orbit. They refuse to try this again at least until Monday. This was a very dangerous experience for all of the workers and astronuaghts working with the shuttle. Midway through the fueling process Friday, hydrogen gas began leaking from the attachment point for a vent line on the external fuel tank. It's the same type of problem that forced delays in two shuttle missions last year, and had not reoccurred since then. The six astronauts who were supposed to go, had to back out at last minute. This was potentially a very dangerous problem for NASA which is why the man and woman in this picture are wearing gas masks and which is why you may see smoke in the air. They were looking at those papers, I’m assuming, in order to fix this problem especially because Douglas Wheelock is not just an astronaut, but is also an engineer.

There is two people, a man and a woman. They are both american and are probably doing work on behalf of the country. We can tell this because we see american flags on the right arms of the uniforms. We also two space satellite badges on their left chest and arm. Because of this we can assume they are in a shuttle in space. (hence the very tech background) Both people have oxygen tanks on and seem to be trying to avoid breathing in the smoke or gas surrounding them. They are both reviewing important looking papers. Possibly instructions for what do in relation of the smoke/gas problem they're dealing with.

I think that the picture are of two men in space training, trying to figure out what went wrong and what to do in reaction of the incident, according to their manual of emergencies. My guess is that there is some type of gas leak due to the clouds and air quality, and the fact that they are wearing gas masks. I can tell that the gas cannot be toxic to the skin because they are both wearing a jumpsuit with their hands exposed.
I think these two ISS guys are preparing for a potential emergency, where they would have to communicate verbally despite the fact that they speak to very different languages- Russian and English.

I think what is going on in the picture is that U.S maybe Marines wearing masks with oxygens because there is gas in the air. I think they are a crew from the International Space Station because of the logo on their arms more precisely they are American. We can obviously think that they're on earth because the book's pages are not floating. Gas masks may be used to protect themselves from a toxic atmosphere around them. We also can see a sort of fog which fill the room. The book which is read by the men may be an in instruction manual used to get information about operation.

In this picture, you can see two authority officers going through a binder with gas masks on. On the man on the left's uniform, there is an American flag. This says that they are most likely American military figures of some sort. Though they are wearing gas masks and equipment, they are not wearing protective clothing. You can see that their hands are completely exposed. I think that they are training in the military and are completing a drill. They also seem to be in a room with no windows, which could mean that it is a controlled environment specially built for training. They are probably going through a binder because it explains the procedure to follow when the event that they are training for occurs.

These are an astronaut and a cosmonaut who are participating in a training exercise dealing with a gas that is toxic to breathe. This is seen by the emblems and the Russian name. The gas, though most likely fog made to simulate the gas, is only harmful to breathe, not to skin contact.

I can assume one is a girl and one is a guy because the girl has smaller, slimmer hands and (not that it's a sign for sure) she has long hair. The guy has bigger hands and therefore is a guy. You can easily determine that it's a list of chores because they're wearing oxygen masks which means that (1) they need oxygen in space and (2) something smells bad. Stuff happens. They are in a spaceship that was boarded by aliens. These aliens broke something and the astronauts now need to fix it, but there is a deadly toxin in the air, thus causing them to wear the masks. I would also assume that this is some kind of drill, because of the setup, and the gases appear to be more like fog, and their is a photographer there, so it's likely a training. They are also looking through what seems to be an instruction manual in an enclosed room with wires strewn about various pieces of equipment. Based on this evidence, I am guessing that this is a training session for astronauts; perhaps they are learning how to operate equipment aboard the ISS.
From my observations what I think is going on in this picture is that these are astronauts in training for some sort of gas leak. I believe this is the case because based on the look of the room and the space flight badges on their uniforms. That is what I think is going on in this picture.

This scene is of two American military men diffusing a bomb. The patches on their clothes look very military like and the American flag patch would assume they are in deed American, but that still brings up a question on why all the writing (and name tag) is in what looks to be Russian, that I am clueless on. Anyway, because of the context of this picture being taken, I don't think this is a real disarming; this would have to be a practice set up. The gas masks are representing a real life situation since it would make it more stressful and even more difficult to read the manual. The men (with some nice hands, I might add) are working together to read the manual and pass this practice bomb disarming. :)

Another thing I think is that they could be practicing, and the papers could be there to check off what they do right.This is a monthly test I would think, so if they get an emergency call they know what to do. They can also be astronauts because on their uniforms there are some logos.

I think that some type of gas got into the air and now they have to wear gas mask at are connected to oxygen. It also seems to me that they are reading directions to get the gas away. Maybe they are being trained into being astronauts, they could be taking a test also.
In this picture it looks like they are trying to fix a gas leak. They have to wear the mask so that they don't inhale in the gas and have to go to the hospital. The book is so that they know how to fix the gas leak so that nobody gets hurt from the gas.

In the middle of a war, you have to hide your plans in the worst places ever. You may have to stay in the hole you put your stuff for your plans. You have to breathe in all the dirt and smoke from above. The thing is when you are down there you have the ground shaking whenever you have a bomb drop nearby. You get dirt on your head whenever someone run over top of you or a tank goes over you. You have to wear a gas mask down there because you may get gases in your lungs from above and they would never know about it until after the war. But the you come down here you want to get out this is not a fun place to be. When you get out you have to take the gas mask off and hang it at the exit of the hole you have to crawl down. You may have to stay down there for a long time.

In this picture, I see astronauts training back on Earth. Even though they have badges of the International Space Station on them, they aren't in space because the gravity is normal. I can tell because there are no objects floating in midair. They must be going through emergency safety procedures because they are wearing gas masks while reading through a booklet, probably for instructions. One detail I noticed is that there is a whiteboard in the back left of the room, possibly where notes or such things were written for their training.
These two men are testing the theory of if you read in room full of gas can you still comprehend and understand what you are reading. I think this because there are two men that look to be in enclosed room with gas masks on and the room is some what foggy. They look like the have sort of professional uniform on.

They must work for sort of organization because it looks there in a lab, maybe a leak sprung through and the need to figure out how to find it before things get even more dangerous.

I think that these 2 people are in training for some space program. I don't think it's a NASA because I dont see a NASA symbol on any of the. I dont know why there have masks on, it seems pointless because they have there sleeves open. But maybe there are limiting there oxygen as a space training exercise

This is clearly an older photo. There are two people wearing gas masks, yet their hands are uncovered, They seem to be looking intently at some papers, what assume it their research. I have come to the conclusion that this was a photo leaked with all the other information about Area 51. A giant has been discovered, and they are doing thorough research on it. The only problem is that it won't stop farting, so they are wearing the gas masks to not pass out due to the horrid stench.
There are two people with masks on, carefully observing a paper. They were probably in space, reading instructions. I think this is what is going on due to the fact that both people shown are wearing certain suit that may point to the possibility of them being astronauts. They need oxygen masks, and their background looks like a spaceship. Another thing I noticed is that the people are presumably a woman and a man. The fact that their suits look kind of thin and their hands and half their arms aren't covered makes me think that they may be space rangers that may not necessarily be in space, but may be carrying out an experiment or simulation in a spaceship-looking environment. There is a man and a woman wearing gas masks in a room that almost looks like a class room or workshop of some kind. They are studying a binder. The binder is probably filled with protocols. There are American flags on their shoulders but have their names on the front in another language. The masks they are wearing seem to primitive to be any kind of space suits. The woman is married and the man is not.

There seem to be two astronauts reading a manual for some sort of simulation at the International space station. The man on the side has an American flag patch on his sleeve; however, there is a Russian translation of his name below which leaves some confusion. The women on the side of him also seem to have these same patches, and we can see a wedding ring on her hand but not on his- not a detail of much significance but something I noticed. Whatever gas is filling the room doesn't seem to be that harmful because of their uncovered hands and loose clothing, but still poses some threat because of the gas mask.

One of my favorite parts of these photos is taking them apart in a very absurd way, clearly taking away the wrong elements for comedy sake. However, this photograph is relatively boring in that sense. There are two individuals wearing gas masks reading over some sort of portfolio, perhaps evidence from a crime scene or some sort of instruction manual, perhaps training for something. You can tell there are ties to America and Russia with the American flag and Russian writing on the guy's name tag. The most interesting connection I can make is that the lady has two rings on, suggesting that she probably married herself, giving herself two rings in the process. Honestly, this is such a beautiful message about self-love.

I believe that this is possibly a picture of the Cosmonauts on the Russian Mir Space Station when there was a fire. One piece of evidence that its a fire is that the air around the people is smoky and foggy. Also, if you look at the people's badges you can see that one of them has a tag that is in Russian letters. The badges on both of the people's left arms also look like they have what looks like a space station overlooking earth which makes me think it's on a space station. Coupled with the fact that they have Russian tags, I believe it's on the Mir Space Station.

I believe that there is something in the air because the two people are wearing head protection and not hand protection. they are also reading a book. so if there is toxic air and they need to read a book why don't they take it out? maybe it's because the book needs to be there. perhaps something in the air is preserving the book, yet the book looks relatively new.

In this picture, there seems to be two astronauts looking at a book of plans. I assume that these individuals are astronauts because of the space suits they are wearing and because of the enclosed spaces they are in. I think these astronauts are on the space station since they have Russian names printed on their suits but also have an American flag patch on them. I do not believe the gas is harmful because if so they probably would be wearing more articles of clothing to shield them from the gas. I think it should be two researchers who are wearing oxygen masks. One researcher still has a pen in his hand, so I wondered what scientific experiments they were studying. Because the site is closed, I think they need to wear an oxygen mask to maintain adequate oxygen.

I believe that the men in this picture are astronauts. They may be in one of those NASA simulations, that prepares them to go to space. It's possible to see that they are reading some sort of instructions, that probably teaches them what to do on this situation.

I think this may be some sort of test of how tolerant the body is of some sort of gas. These people appear to be reading or writing something, and they have gas masks on, which makes me think that they are surrounded by a gas. Their surroundings look a bit cloudy, further proving my point.

Based on the uniforms, I think that these people are astronauts of the United States and are in a training simulation for possible problems that could arise in the International Space Station. They both seem pretty calm and relaxed, leading me to think that this is a simulation and is not a true emergency. The gas masks lead me to believe that this could be for a situation where toxic gases leaked into the ship and the astronauts need to figure out how to clear the gas out of the ship.
Thank you @Xien for your inference that the gas in the air might be carbon monoxide, explaining the masks but no gloves, observing further that if the threat was radioactive they'd most likely be wearing suits covering all parts of their bodies. Keep looking! What more can we find?
Judging from the patches on their uniforms, these individuals must be at the International Space Station. They're wearing masks, but since they're hands are uncovered, something must have gone wrong and is making it harder for them to breathe, but poses no other danger. One of these individuals is sporting a patch with what looks like a Russian name, but is also wearing a patch of the American flag, which confuses me about their background.
This image looks like two people reading instruction in some type of power plant. The reason why I think this is because of the badge they have on there suits. It looks like a machine that is over a mountain. They are from America because of the American flag on one of the person suit. It looks like in some type of emergency situation because they have gas masks on and you can see the fog in the air.

Douglas H. Wheelock is likely the man on the right. That's the name on his nametag at least. The word below it is simply his last name but in Russian. He is an Astronaut for the United States, thus, it can be logically surmised that the woman on the right is an astronaut as well. It appears they're on some sort of shuttle, and there was a problem that put a type of gas in the air, requiring them to wear gas masks. It looks like they're looking in a manual for a solution to whatever problem is at hand.
These are two people from the USA because they are wearing the country's flag on their arms. They are clearly in conditions that aren't fit for the human body because of the masks they have on, but the conditions do not affect their skin because their hands are exposed. They seem to be studying something for a reason that could be repairing or even building an object.
It looks to me like two pilots/astronauts are doing some practice simulation for when they don't have oxygen or for when there is toxic gas in the air. Though the canisters they are using for air don't look like air tanks that professionals would use.

I think there are two American officials studying some fragile documents in Russia. They are Americans because they have an American flag on one person's arm and the top name on one of the name tags is in English. Also, they are in Russia because the name below the English name is Russian.

There are two people in a room with gas masks on. I think that one of them is a man and the other one is a woman due to their hands and the length of hair that I can see. They are going over a book of some sort. They seem to be trying to do some sort of maintenance due to the surrounding that they are in. As well as the wires and opening behind them. Either they are learning how to do something or going through an emergency that would do something with the air. One thing that I am not sure about is that I am getting space from the suits and the all metal room. This might be training.

These two people, possibly a male and a female or both males, judging by the left person's rings and hand shape, the left-person could be either a male or female. They are on a space station judging by the logo in their arm and chest. Their name tags (o what I assume to be name tags) appear to be written in Russian, but they have American flags on their arms, so maybe they are working in conjunction with Russia. This is a simulation for prospective NASA pilots. Their challenge is to do math homework while in heavy gas masks in a smoking room. The masks look pretty makeshift for an actual flight, and the book they are observing seems like math more than an instruction manual.

The people in the picture seem to be a man and a woman who are in Russia working for the U.S. I say this because of their badges and the shape of their hands. This could be a place that has been evacuated due to carbon monoxide, which would explain the masks but no gloves. If if was a radioactive place they'd have very covering suits or something. The badge on their arm is the ISS, which probably has something to do with the picture. They are reading the binder, meaning they are trying to learn/review something. There is smoke in the room, and they are wearing gas masks. I would say that they are training for what they would do if a fire broke out on the ISS. I think this because they are wearing uniforms, but since nothing is floating around, it must be on Earth. Since they are very calm, this also means they are in training and not the real thing.

In this picture, I see people wearing gas masks. They are looking at a binder of papers. In the background, there are a lot of wires. Whatever they are protecting themselves from with the gas masks does not affect their skin because they are not wearing gloves. This makes me to believe that it is not a disease. The two people are also wearing blue suits. They seem to be part of some sort of team. They seem to have oxygen tanks hanging off their chests and connected to their masks. They are wearing official jackets because it is Halloween day and they are trying to be cool.

Were there actually toxic gas, they would be trying to leave and would most likely not keep their hands uncovered.
I believe this photo contains a program of sorts for some space training. I've come to this based on the badges on their uniforms. The gas masks are part of a simulation they are being put through to test their abilities, also to test abilities under pressure to finish work.
I think that this is a United States Air-force or NASA training simulation between 1970-1990. The uniform that they are in have space specific patches which make me think that this is an astronaut training simulation. The gas masks appear to be older, which makes me think that this takes place during the times specified.

After looking at this picture, I have come to the conclusion that these two people are doing some kind of research, likely in some kind of gas chamber, as they are wearing gas masks. Because of the clothing it appears that the two pictured are astronauts. Moreover, the man's uniform has his name in English and Russian. This is likely because they are in space (International Space Station), and launched from a Russian rocket. As for the gas mask it is unclear if they are in space and an accident has occurred or they are practicing for such an error in space. I believe the latter is occurring as they are not wearing gloves to keep the gas out. Moreover, they appear to be using older gear giving further evidence that they may be practicing. Finally, they aren't floating leading me to believe they are training (there is no gravity on the I.S.S.).

Both of the people have badges on their clothing, which means that they have some authority. They have badges that represent the International Space Station. They appear to be in a simulator that is used to prepare people to be sent into space. A simulator usually has many wires and has limited space, which is displayed in this picture. By the tense facial expressions of the faces of the people, I infer that the people have run into an actual gas leak situation rather than one that is fake or used for practice.
I think it is a test for the Air Force to see if they can fly in the bad situation and bad weather that they can survival bad stuff.

It looks like some cops or Army or Marine soldiers are in a smoke/ gas room and they are trying to figure something out like instructions or they need to know how to stop or start something like the technology behind them. It could be that there is a fire where they are at and they may need to get rid of the fire so they are looking at safety instructions.
The two men look like they're Germany National Army men. We think that they are in a lab and something went wrong releasing poisonous gas. They are wearing gas masks to protect themselves but we notice their skin is exposed. We notice the US flag patches on their sleeves so we think they are from the USA. We see that they are looking in what looks like a scientific guide or manual, maybe trying to fix what went wrong.

There are many observations I can make right off the bat. For starters, I see that two people are wearing gas masks, and upon closer observation, I see these masks are connected by a tube to some sort of tanks. This leads me to believe that they are using these tanks to breathe in oxygen, which proves that there is a dangerous chemical/gas surrounding the area. The air is also tinted with a green color, which can prove that claim. Additionally, due to one of the patches being an American flag on their attire, I can infer they are American. However, on one of the people’s name tag, they have the Russian/Ukrainian letters, so they must be an American citizen from Russia or vice versa. Also, one of my thoughts were contradicting with many others, for I don’t think they are in space. They are only wearing masks and their hands are not protected. Although, they might be training in a simulation for future military or space activities. Lastly, they seem to be studying or writing in a binder, so maybe they are taking notes on the gas, or even reading instructions on what to do in a situation where dangerous gas is present.

It appears to be 2 personal training for life in the international space station by using gas masks to simulate life in a space suit repairing the international space station. I inferred this by how the patch on the right arm depicts the international space station, the patch on the chest shows the iconic symbol of the international space station and how the gas mask is extremely similar to the space suits air tank system and how a training manual such as the one on the table would only be read in a training situation.

I think this because they have gas masks on with an oxygen tank connected to it. This could mean that the gas may be toxic. They also have a book that looks like its a manual.
