Who cares what's in the house?

Normally I like Jimmy Kimmel but the kid “love” episode was incredible to watch in light of current events. We just watched him teach that boy to ignore a girl when she says, “No”! How many men have lost their jobs over this in the last year and a half? Didn’t we watch a professor describe how she was nearly raped by a future Supreme Court judge(!) who thought he’d done nothing wrong when he held her down as she screamed “no”? Why on earth did Russonello include this in “The Bits Worth Watching”? When will they ever learn?

Gosh, I thought it was hilarious. The kids were clearly in on the joke. As a father of three grown women I would be as horrified as you if there was anything untoward here, but there really wasn't. There is so much real inequality and misogyny in the world, let's focus on that.
Kevin McGowan (Dryden, NY)
@Jack No, I have to agree with the criticism. It was cute, of course to see a 6-year-old think about love with a cute older woman. But, there was no validation of the older woman's feelings. Didn't sit right with me.

Yes- a horrific, misogynistic sketch, Were there no women writing that day? I think he owes us all an apology, especially Georgia.

Weren't the first few years of life of Trump spent in Woodhaven in Queens? I know there is a plaque in Woodhaven that states Fred Trump lived there and it has previously been reported that The Donald was born there and moved to Jamaica when he was about 3.

I have a feeling Late Nights and cable news are really going to miss Trump when he is gone. Lets hope whoever replaces him doesn't provide even more joke and news lines then this one, but most of all lets hope somebody replaces him.

Blackface in MEDICAL SCHOOL? This goes far beyond the privileged, prosperous, over-protected prep school prank and straight into clueless racist territory. Even in upper class white Virginia society, people attending medical school have been out of their parents' mansions long enough to understand how the real world works. After four years of college, still indulging in blackface "humor" AND not being smart enough to realize one ugly photo can destroy a political career doesn't speak well for the governor or his minions. Time to leave, Mr. Northam. You're simply too clueless to govern a state composed of all races. And I'm a democrat.

@Kris Aaron - Looking forward to seeing how pure and righteous the lily white republicans are in the line of succession in the Virginia State Government.

The one liners you selected are wonderful. However, I take issue with Jimmy Kimmel’s public shaming of that brave young girl whom he tried to instruct in the power of love. This went beyond humor into unfunny coercion. Girls and women are oversocialized to contain their anger, be good sports, and smooth social difficulties, often at their own expense. In this day and age of a misogynist Trump presidency, it is even more incumbent upon all of us to call out pressure to do so. He owes her an apology.
Dorothy (Evanston)
I agree. Didn't think it was funny and made me uncomfortable for the kids.
Lenny (Oakland, California)
Agreed. That was horrid. The set-up was that the boy likes the girl. And her thoughts and feelings in the matter were clearly stated but ignored. Kimmel’s bit was about coercing her into a date and physical contact that she said she didn’t want. Cheap, outdated humor. And utterly irresponsible.

I love Seth Meyers comment about the marijuana infused gummy candies. Funny!!!
DrA (San Luis Obispo, CA)
@susan As a teacher whose classroom has been 25 feet away from the school band for the past 15 years, I... no comment :)
Albert Edmud (Earth)
@susan...Yeah, who knew any of these "comedians" could crack a joke? My take was that the band was on a day trip to a competition at another school and all of the teachers had gummy gum stuck in their teeth.

Re Trump's childhood, well-appointed home in Forest Gardens: I imagine that his committed tax-avoiding father, Fred, stashed gobs of cash inside the interior walls of the family manse. Whoever buys the place will probably receive a huge windfall removing all those walls. Then there's that old safe lurking in a corner of the musty basement. Where's Geraldo Rivera?
Dan Lanigan (Washington, VA)
@John Grillo Trumps childhood home on Wareham Place is in Jamaica Estates, not Forest Hills or Forest Gardens. I know. I grew up on that street.
jahnay (NY)
@John Grillo - Maybe trump's high school report card and diploma will turn up in those walls.
