Detectives are covering up a statue of Mother Mary. Maybe it is part of a TV show or a movie. They look like police officers because of their badges and uniforms. It is a very weird "crime scene" if that is what you want to call it.

I see the well built man on the left is married and the one that is doctoring mother mary isn't, i also see its not really in a good area as the signs have been violated. It all started a few weeks ago when winter was coming. The cold felt more than ever and the leaves of the trees began to fall. An 80 years old ole woman had had a statue of the Virgin Mary in her house for decades. She was very Catholic and every morning after awakening she prayed for her relatives; even she prayed for the catastrophes that have been happening in the world lately. Strange things began to happen inside the house, until one day when everything came to an end. A criminal entered the house to steal jewelry that the old woman had, when he saw that she was awake, she thought that the only thing he could do was murder her; so he did it. He search the entire house and find a paper saying that all the jewels were buried under the statue. The old woman had that note to let her relatives know where all her inheritance was. The murderer broke the statue and made the robbery. When he left he had to take the statue because he did not want to leave there because it could have his fingerprints. He left with the jewels and the statue and began his long journey. He found a perfect place to put the statue; Then he left it and left. Days later the policy found the statue and after great investigations they managed to know its history.
In the picture I see two cops and a forensic investigator. I see four cars. The background as a desert or a cold remote place. The scene its happening by a desolated street. There is rope, a blanket and a statue of the Virgin Maria.
What may be happening in the picture is that in a distance in a desert or a place pretty much inhabited, people had seen a strange figure covered with a blanket and it looked suspicious. Someone may had reported the situation and then, officers arrived at the scene to investigate what was happening. As the situation could seem as a murder or a crime, a forensic investigator was needed. When the officers and the investigator got to the scene they unwrapped the blanket to find what was inside and then they found out that it was a statue. But now they have to find out how it got there.

my history: the police try to find a statue of virgin that was stolen, the police looking for days but the police could not find it and one detective who worked on the case find tracks of the whereabouts of the statue, and he ordered an arrest on the criminals who stole the statue but in the place where they were arrested they did not find the statue or traces of them and after an interrogation to the criminals it was finally possible to know where the statue of the virgin was and the reason why it was stolen,the thieves confessed that they stole the statue because someone had paid them to steal it and leave it in a place where nobody could find it and although after confessing it was never known who was the one who contracted them and thus closed the case of the statue of the virgin stolen.

Weeks ago, the police and the firefighters go to see what the place looks now, they don’t see animals or a type of life. It is a dark morning and they see all the destroyed houses the forensic start searching, and he found a rare statue. He says that the cause of the dire threw the statue there for hide the evidence.

This morning tow polices found a statue that was lost a long time ago. The statue is rare and is a article of museum the statue was in a abandoned area left for somebody
My students have suggested that maybe the statue was possibly stolen and during the subsequent police chase it was either thrown out while driving or possibly the car was in an accident as a result of the chase.
The policeman's body type, mustache, his decorated uniform, and the style of cars (boxy Chryslers with solid hubcaps) lead us to believe this picture was taken in the United States. Also, it was not taken recently, rather in the 1970s or 80s, for the aforementioned reasons as well as how granular and colorless the photograph is. Furthermore, the landscape - dry grass, sprawling roads, graffitied street signs - suggests the men are in the rural US. We think the man is removing the shroud of sorts from the statue as there are concentrated creases and marks where the fabric would rest on the head and shoulders. The man doing the uncovering is not a policeman, due to his dress (or lack thereof). Instead, he is probably a local resident who has enlisted the help of the police. Alternatively he could be an investigator or detective type. We think some act of vandalism has been perpetrated because a statue that looks as though it should be part of a church or graveyard has been disunited from its original abode. The police were called to investigate such a crime.
We see a statue laying on the ground outside a building. There are police investigating the statue and potentially uncovering it. It could be that they are uncovering a historical or cultural artifact. It could be that a crime organisation stole this from a church and then left it behind.
We think that this happened after a vandalism and that's why the cops are there. We also think that the statue was stolen or taken to prove a financial or religious purposes. This is probably anti-christian if it is indeed proving a religious point. The area arround it does not look very rich, so it might be a high crime rate area. This might also explain why the police is there.

The quality of the photo implies it was taken a while ago, as do the cars in the background. The silver on the edge of the cars was popular in the 1900s. We think that the statue is being covered because it was a religious figure and people respected them very much back then. To show respect for an inanimate figure they cover it to provide peace. This picture was taken on the side of a highway, so someone might have been trying to place it somewhere where most people wouldn't find it, the long grass provided some cover. There are quite a few cars gathered near the scene, and somber faces, which could mean this was a serious crime scene.
We believe that the police officers (the two on the right) are investigating a crime scene where either:
A: A statue was stolen and found further along the road
B: statues outside a graveyard/church were broken and tipped over by vandals
The model of the cars, the outfit of the officers, and the quality of the pictures led us to believe that this was taken in the 70s-80s.

We had a lot of thoughts about this picture. We think this picture was taken in the past because of the old cars in the background and the 80's style glasses on the police officer. We also noticed that the statue looks like it came from a church. They are covering it up to keep it safe and take it back to where it belongs.

In this picture we can see a toppled statue from a Church or religious institution being covered by a blanket by a man. Two police officers are seen standing behind him. This picture was probably taken in the mid-19th century because of the older looking cars. The statue is definitely out of place which could suggest that it could have been stolen.
We have many guesses as to the time frame of this picture. But the guesses are near the 70's & 80's. Students noticed the possible highway sign with graffiti on it, cars and guard rail hypothesizing that this setting is near a highway. The religious statue was found on the side of the road covered in a blanket. The police officers are investigating why it's there.

I think somebody stole this statue from a graveyard. This statue was probably made for a very important person. Maybe the person that took the statue probably didn't like the person and it looks like they threw it on the side of the road. The police are investigating who did this.

After many days of searching, this early morning was found
the valuable statue of the virgin that was stolen last month from The Art Museum.It was hidden in an abandoned area wrapped with blankets behind a sign outside the city. The detective had received information from his sources about a possibility to check that area. He came with two police officers to the scene which served as witnesses in this important finding. After collect all the evidence in the area, the statue was returned to the police station to be analyze. Apparently the statue was in perfect condition, Once the investigation finish it will be returned to the Museum to be delighted by every one who visits it.
The police are investigating the stolen statue from the museum and are going to return it to the museum.

The first rule that stands out to me most is the depth and overlapping: with the statue, then each policemen behind each other and then the cars behind them. The second rule of photography that I noticed was the viewpoint: eye lever because it is not from above but it is also not looking up at the main subjects of the image. If something like this happened in my neighborhood I would be annoyed because there are three policemen being distracted by a fallen Mary statue that isn’t even broken. They are acting like she has died and I don’t get why.

What i see in this photo is that there is a christian statue and cops surrounding it. It might be evidence on a case they might be working on. What rules of photography i believe is use is leading lines, balances, and view point. If this happened in my neighborhood my reaction would be very confused and ask myself why is there a random statue in my neighborhood.
I see several law enforcement officials covering what appears to be a religious artifact with a blanket. One of the officers is holding a clipboard which makes me think he has some sort of investigatory report and the statue was involved in some sort or criminal act, such as vandalism.
In this photo there are 3 police officers and one is covering up what seems to be a religious statue. The faces of the officers look mornfull and serious because what happened was serious and sad. The statue probably means something to where they are. It looks like its a crime scene that someone stole and dumped a piece of an important church.
I believe that in this photo it could be a crime scene investigation, is this because there is a blanket that covers a item and there is also three police officers around the item. I can also see that it's on the side of the road and the police officers stopped to do an investigation.
It really look like the man is being a bit dramatic because usually only deceased bodies get something laid over them, and the cops behind him look like they don’t want to be there but out of respect they are. What i see here is 3 policemen on the side of a highway mabey picking up an old artifact from a run down or burnt down church. My guess it that they are taking it to a museum where they love old creepy artifacts like this one.

It was a late afternoon on a Saturday, November 1st 1985. When a police station received a call from someone saying that there was the dead body of a woman covered with a blanket in the "old empty expressway of California", that's how people call some abandoned street in California. The policemen as soon as they heard the news from this person, turned on theirs cars, the sirens of the cars and got to the place in less than 10 minutes. When they uncovered the " dead body " it turned out to be a statue, a "saint". A man where in a walk around the city and he found a statue of the virgin mary abandoned in the floor and he call the police for see what the police can do .Two police mans come for investigate the case because the church demanded the last week the stole of one statue similar to the one the man found .They ask the man to put the statue in a blanked for kept it safe when they transport it in the police car , and finally they give back the statue to the church.
There are three men, two are definitley cops, probably local cops, and the other who might be a detective and a nun statue. The detective guy is covering the nun statue with a blanket, in the way police cover someone who has died in an accidetn or murder. To me it looks lik eht enun is dead and therefore he is covering her up, to protect her form watvhing eyes or people who might stare. This could signifiy that he is trying to protect the nun, a symbol of innocence and religion and goodness. He is trying to protect religion and a=faith as something sacred maybe.

This picture has 2 officers and one man that could be a officer but it is not clear. The one man that might be a officer is putting a blanket over a religious statue. I believe that some person either knocked it over or dumped it here. It follows the rule of thirds because the statue is in the bottom corner, it also follows the depth because you see the statue and the people but there are the cars in the background. If this happened in my neighborhood I honestly could care less because religion is just something to make people okay with death.

What I see in this photo is 3 police officers covering a broken statue with a sheet. The picture is in black and white. The officers are all men. The picture is rather old as it is in black and white and the fact that the police officer are wearing uniforms that are no longer worn by police, as well as the cars are older cars from around the 70's or 80's so somebody probably stole the statue and the church reported the statue stolen and the police officers found it and are going to take it back to the church were it belongs.

My 3 reason why I said that one of the police officer is a undercover officer is that he is not wearing uniform. I think in this picture the cops found a statue next to a highway. That picture is from 1600 because the picture is black and white and the car is old model. I think somebody stole the statue but it was heavy so they though it out. Now the cops are investigate. There are two cops in uniforms but one men without uniform who is helping them to investigating.

My opinion about this picture is this could be a witchcraft and i have three 3 reasons that can explain it really well. My first reason is because the virgin is on the ground and is old My second reason is because the picture is really old the picture is from 70’s or maybe older. Maybe what is going on in the picture is that it seems like a crime scene but instead of an actual body it is a statue of someone praying the rosary. Either it can be stolen or a sign saying that religion is dead? It makes me say that because of how they're draping the blanket over the statue and how the police officers are there.
Something that I could infer from the image is that someone must have stolen the statue; but then thought it was too heavy and left it behind. I believe this because why else would police be involved.
What is going on is that the statue needs to be a certain heat and it is reaching a cooling point and needs the blanket to be warmed up. I see a man covering the statue with a blanket while it is laying down. I can find both men appear to be cops and are trying to help by doing the right thing.

Police usually do not wrap items in bedspreads so a call may have been placed to 911 or the local PD by a passing motorist who saw the statue covered by a bedspread and may have thought that the bedspread was covering a murder victim.

The Mother Mary statue was probably stolen from someone's house or a church, but the way the statue is laying on the ground and the man covering it with a blanket makes it appear more like a murder scene, although the man probably just wants to ensure the statue hasn't been broken or won't break once he picks it up. The photo seems like it might be from the 90s or late 80s as the glasses the policeman is wearing were the popular style then.
it is a murder or some form of paralysis but either way the person is screwed over now there is no safe way to put it for the appearance but the cross on the amulet bugs me there is something about it that seems....off in a very bad way i believe in demons aliens Bigfoot etc but this is something rather unnerving if it is a statue then there is something far more disturbing to it if it is THAT statue then its owners have died of unforeseen accidents car crash illness etc

It has to do with the statue of the Virgin Mary and it looks like they are either covering the statue or taking the blanket off. It seems to off the highway because we see a guardrail in the background and it might be a highway sign too with graffiti written on the back of the sign. We also think it was in the past because of the type of police cars and the picture is black and white.

In this picture i see police men covering up a doll with a blanket. The doll has a cross on and there is a car in the back which im guessing is the police mens car.
Point of veiw. If this happened in my neighborhood i would just be weirded out but also just not look into it enough.

In my opinion it looks like the setting/theme is in the “old days” (1900’s). This is shown by the black and white picture, old cars, and the way the officers uniforms look. It also seems to look like the officers are laying a Christmas blanket over the little statue, that represents a certain form of religion. There is also a fair amount of graffiti on the sign right next to it, which may prove to be a teenager prank of some sort. However, back in 1900’s there was a conflict between many people, in which many men and women disapproved of Catholicism. Based on all the information that I have, I believe I can safely infer that this is a crime scene.

In the picture there is two cops, I am guessing that they are at a crime scene. They are covering up something that looks like a statue from the accent period in time. Also it is in the 1900 because it is in black and white, there is also a lot of old cars in the back round. What makes me say all that is because I looked at the picture and examined it for about ten minutes, then I just thought about everything that is saw and then I came out with that. What’s going on in this picture is that three men, two that have police officer badges and one that doesn’t, are looking at the statue of a Virgin while the non-police guy is covering her in a piece of cloth. In this picture, I see two police officer and a detective. The photo seems to be older, there are older cars and the officers glasses are an older set. The cars that are in the background look like they are possibly from the 80's. It seems to be that this was an abandoned statue, maybe it was stolen and just dumped out. The quality of this photo is not the greatest, but it is in black and white. This statue seems to be some kind of religious statue to. So maybe someone was in disbelief of the religion and tried getting rid of it. It could also be that the statue was worth money and was then stolen.

The policeman look like they are very busy. In the picture it look like someone has stole a important statue in the town. This was a very special piece because was one of the first statue that the church ever had and it represented a nun that dedicated her life to religion. She was a very religious woman and she wanted her family to be like that but her family didn’t want to. The billboard has graffiti that meant that the place was a common place were criminal stuff happened very often. After weeks of searching the detective found the statue in an old abandon space were the grass and trees were all dried up and it was very bad. The statue was safety returned to the church

It took place in 1952 because the police cars are old. Two cops, religious statue. The saint is not in a church or at a house. The saint is in a abanduned place. The grass look dry, like burn. What happened was that the religious statue was stolen from a church and was abandoned by the thieves because the police was chasing the thieves and they drop the saint in to the floor.
Ok! Te first thing that takes our attention is the guy (that is not a cop because his clothes are different than the others behind) covering the statue.

The statue is clean, so somebody leave it there recently.

That's 20 years ago when someone stole a really famous statue from church. There days latter the police officers found it in the outsides of the town and put it back to where it belongs. Till today's date is a mystery who was the person who stole.

One day an statue from a recognized church got stolen and no one was able to find it. Days past by and the statue was still lost. In a normal day at the police station three policeman were chosen randomly to patrol a neighborhood. They were making they routine and everything seems normal until they see a blanket covering something that looks like a dead body and they approach to the object. In surprise there wasn't any dead body it was the stolen statue from the past week that no one had found. They take it to the police station as evidence of the crime.

There are three police men looking a if they are trying to cover up a crime scene. There seems to be more people in the background with all of the cars in the back. This seems to be a serious matter because the ARE serious and are trying to cover up what seems to be a piece of evidence that would benefit an investigation. This location may be abandoned and run down because of all the plantation that seems to be spreading. Maybe this was the sight of a church or some religious place considering the statue that appears to be the virgin Mary. It appears to be placed in the time frame of the 1970s-1980s. This is because of the car models in the background and the fashion of the police uniform. They are behind a road-side sign that is covered with graffiti with the dead plants around them leading me to conclude that it is mid autumn or the beginning of winter. The man covering the religious statue seems to be covering it with a festive blanket. I believe that the reason they are covering this statue is because they are transporting it after someone had dumped it at the side of the road. The police are there because someone may have called saying that there was a body when in actuality it was the statue. The man covering it is the priest of the nearby church.

The 2nd cop appears to have a serious or angry face so I think he is "mad" at the statue. The second police also has something in his hand which could potentially be another statue. What going on in this picture is that someone throw to the grass a statue and the investigator are trying to picking up with a blanket, so that they don't touch or mistreat more than what has been already.
In this picture there is a statue of what looks like religious relation and it is lying on the ground where two policemen are covering it up. I believe that is laying there because it was part of a heist. Maybe the statue was of some grand value and as it was being stolen, while escaping, the robbers fumbled it and ran away. They are covering it so it does not get any more damaged and for evidence.

My theory is that they arrived after they got a call about something in the area. Then the CSI started to investigate around the area. He saw the statue on the ground and started to wrap towels and blankets around it so they could either set it back up or take it back where it came from.

The road is also in a run down sort of town or area because of the graffiti. It was brought to the station and in that compartment was a whole lot of gold jewelry. The police think that it could be cursed because why would someone drop that off?
In this image, there are three police officers appearing to be covering some sort of religious statue. I think that perhaps before the picture was taken a statue was stolen. The criminal then left it on the ground after an escape. All the officers look like they are in deep thought which also makes me think it was stolen. The picture was probably taken in the '60s or '70s because of the cars in the background. The area that they are in looks abandoned and that makes me think that they are in a small town or city. On the sign behind them, there is graffiti which might mean they are in a high crime area. They are on the side of a highway around a sign which leads me to believe there was a criminal nearby that they are looking for and left this statue to try and get away faster. Perhaps after this image was taken they caught their criminal since it seems like there are not many people around for them to look through.
In the provided image the observations I made all began with one thing, the statue. The shown statue is a figure of Mary and she is holding a cross in her hands. In the picture, I also notised two police officers, one kneeling behind the statue and one standing a lenghth away and gazing at the action before them. Not only are there two police officers but a man that appers to be covering the statue. Behind the people and statue, there is what appers to be a road sighn with vandalism covering its surface. If I were to make an inferance as to how this all began I would suspect a robbery took place and the thief decided to throw the statue and leave it. This inferance would exsplain the officers and would very much be a cause for investigation.
I think they are covering a statue because it could be valuable, priceless, & important that they just wanted to hide it so no one would try to steal it. My other guess is that the statue was already stolen or is part of a crime. They are using a blanket to cover and carry it without adding their fingerprints on the object. My questions for this picture are: What could have really happened to the statue? And what do they really need the blanket for?

Based on what i see, there is older cars in the background and graffiti, so i know its in the 19 century.Also one of the police officers has an older pair of glasses so i think this image takeplace in 1985.It looks like the men are recovering an angel (looks like the virgin mary)so im thinking the man is christan. Since there is police officers i think one or a group of people threw the angel.The man called the police to get our picture.

In this picture you see officers either uncovering or covering a statue.There is graffiti on a sign by the statue. I believe that this picture is quite old because of the style of cars, and the picture is in black and white. I think that the statue might have been stolen and moved somewhere, hidden under a blanket. I think this because there are officers there, meaning a crime is committed or is suspected. The picture was likely taken in the winter because of the bare trees and the jackets. The guy in the front doesn't seem to be a cop because he isn't wearing a proper uniform like the others, he may have been a witness to something?

There is a lady, that she is very active in her church and a strong believer. But one day she was walking home from church and she saw a lady with snakes as hair. She turn around and ran but she was to slow she had got hit with one of the strong gamma rays that turned her into a stone statue. She looked at her as her feet turned to stone then her legs then her arms then her shoulders then her head then she was gone in to stone but she would never be see again. Until now, she was so happy she was trying to break the stone. But she could not she was there but the police thought that she was just a stone statue. So they handled her with care taking her back to the church. She will never not be seen in church again. She will never leave the church again.
@Ryan - thank you for your comment this morning! I am hearing you thinking of a narrative, or story, for this image. You are possibly referencing the Greek myth of Medusa, which tells of a woman with snakes for hair who has the power to turn people to stone.

There is a statue.
It was in the floor of a public park.
They are in Chicago.
It is very cold.
There are officers using jackets.
There are many cars.
Some officers in Chicago were passing by a public park and they suddenly see a statue laying down in the floor. This officers call the station and ask if there had been a case of any stolen or missing statue. The office confirmed that the statue was stolen and the officers got a blanket they had in the car and covered the statue so they could take it to the station.
a couple of cops and a detective are most likely investigating a statue that is of evidence to a tragic event, perhaps there are rumors of the statue being cursed. I would infer this because the statue is of a woman most likely praying and holding rosary beads. I would associate this with Catholicism and when I see cops around an object such as this my mind tends to think of the supernatural.
well i say that the priest covering the little statue which has to do something with the christian church because of the cross that the statue is holding. The cops are there to help make sure that nobody gets close to it and the priest is I'll say taking it to the church to probably get it back because it might be cursed so he has to bless it
the setting appears to be a car lot. there are two people (presumably law enforcement) and a third person. i beleive that they are moving a saint statue, because it was stolen and left outside
An art museum was robbed the day before and after hours of searching they find a statue from the art museum and use for evidence to catch the culprit. :)
I do not know what is going on in the photograph, but it seem it is a church cemetary in the corner of the town of Portland. In the photo the statue and so a 10 year old five miles away

In the picture there is a man and two cops. The man Is covering up an angel that he is going to move. The cops are investigating a possible murder case and the man is covering the angel to mark where the possible victim might of been killed.
Somebody stole it and then dropped it off so that they wouldn't be seen with the stolen statue. The police officers are covering up the statue so that when they go back there and picks it up rain don't wash off any paint or damage what is on the statue.

The policemen or a workforce are covering up a what looks like an important statue, I think they are covering it up because they are going to get it transported to a place to get it fixed encase it got cracked or chipped. There are cars in the background and a billboard.
I think that this could be a movie shot from a old movie because the cars do not look new and it is in black and white. I also think a person could have been vandalized the place because there is spray paint on the sign and someone thought the statue was a dead body and called the police.
We feel this is from a time before color pictures, around 1960's. Can't tell where the police officer is from b/c the patch on his shoulder is blurry. We think they are covering up the statue to protect any fingerprints that could be on it. The statue was dumped after it was stolen.

I believe that this is a police officer approaching an already covered statue. I think the image was taken was when the police officer pulled up the blanket on top of it to uncover a statue (maybe it was a false reporting of a dead body). I say this because the way the blanket is bunched up at the base of the statue, it looks like he is pulling it up as well as the motion blur suggests that he's not laying it down.
Maybe the people are covering the statue up to get it away from any criminals considering that statues probably meant that its worth some moolah. They probably have the military cover the area to see no one surrounding it.

I think that it was a robbery and the cops were picking up the evidence with a blanket in a posibility of dusting for prints.
I think they thought it was a dead body as the blanket looks dirty and old meaning it was probably on the statue for awhile before the cops got there and plus there seems to be multiple cars there and they call in that many unless it were something serious so it couldn't be because it was a stolen object.

I think someone has stolen this statue and dumped it on the side of the road, one officer is covering it with blankets to make sure it doesn't get damaged anymore than it already has. The vehicles seem to be older types so I'm thinking this isn't recent.

In this picture there is a man covering up a statue of the Virgin Mary. I think that someone vandalized the statue and knocked it over so the police came to investigate what happened. They are covering up the statue so the weather doesn't damage it while they wait for someone to come and put it back up.
I think in this photo there are police from New York the State investigating a murder and mistake a statue for a body. It’s in New York because on the shield it says New York. There the police because they have a badge on. For the guy uncovering the statue is a think a detective because he doesn’t have any badges like the policemen. If you look at the way his hands are positioned it appears that he’s uncovering the blanket.

There are two police men behind him watching over him. They seem to be on the side of a main road becuase there is a sign besides the man covering the statue and there is a gaurdrail across the road. The man could be covering the statue in the place of a car accident in hope that the Virgin Mary will bring the dead peace. In addition, the police could be there investigating the accident and watching over the man holding the blanket.

In this picture, there appears to be statue of a saint (or some kind of martyr, due to the rosary in its hand) lying on the ground. There is a man who appears to be covering it up, and there are police officers who watching him. The officer on the left is holding a clipboard, which means he could be taking notes on whatever situation is happening. It could be that the statue was defiled and knocked over, since there are also signs of graffiti art in the picture (graffiti art is vandalism, a form of crime, which would explain why the cops are there.
In this picture, some policemen discovered a statue, which looks like it could have been stolen and/or vandalized. I can tell this because the statue is on its side in the grass, instead of somewhere where it can be worshiped. Yes, a statue can be placed in a field, but this field is definitely not a place of worship, this can be showed through the sign behind the statue with graffiti on it. The policemen could be covering it up because of how holy a statue of Mary is. They are treating the statue with as much respect they would show to a human being.

i can see that the two police officers are putting the blanket over the statue of marry like they would a body but i belive that the men are trying to be nice or somthing like that and not touch the statue or there covering thee statue so it wont get damaged until they have somewhere to move it
police are investigating a statue that was left on the side of the street and wondering where it come from and how did it get there. I think the reason they stopped is because they thought it was a body because it was covered up and the sheriff uncovered the statue and i say that because i see police officers and one police have a clip board and the sheriff is holding a cover. i think it was during the time period of 1970 or 1990.

My class began immediately creating a narrative around the statue of the Virgin Mary and how it got to the side of the road. We think it may have been stolen from a church. We say that because statues of the Virgin Mary are almost always in a church. We think that the officers are investigating this stolen statue because the middle one has a clipboard, and they appear to be uncovering the statue. We feel that it was wrapped by thieves, who then tossed it by the side of the road. We wonder if the officers were expecting a human in the tarp or blanket. We also think this happened many decades ago and we say that because of the style of cars, the glasses and clothes they are wearing, and the fact that the picture is black and white...

I think that the police/detectives found a body. It looks like they are investigating what it is and who it is. I see that there is something on the ground that might be part of a crime or something that is bad. The police/detectives in this look old because the police these days do not look like this. It looks like a statue that might have a dead body under it. They might just be hiding the body so we can't see it.

There are are two policemen and one is covering a statue of the Virgin Mary. They seem to be on the side of a road because there is the back of a sign and a car behind them. They might be laying the virgin Mary where someone may have gotten in a car accident and died. A similar act is done with crosses at the location where the accident occurred. The virgin Mary is placed there for religious purposes and is covered so she is not disturbed by the public. If she is covered it brings less attention to it.
This photo is taken somewhere in New York CIty. One of the police officer's sleeve has a NYPD patch. It is one of the boroughs such as Queens, or Brooklyn, but it is definetly not Manhattan. Manhattan would have had larger building and more infastructure than the surrounding boroughs. There are three men pictured. There is a Mary statue laying on its side. The man to the left is lifting the blanket that was covering the Mary statue. It is unclear wether or not he is a police officer due to the lack of markings on his jacker. They could have been looking for the statue and have finally found it. The man in the center is a police officer. He is kneeling and has a clipboard. The clipboard was probaly used to record evidence. The man on the right is standing there in shock looking over the statue. There is also a shred of fabric by the man's feet. There is also vandalism on the walls, which probaly means that its a rough area. The cars mean that this photo was probaly taken in the 50's or 60's.

In this picture, a religious statue is being covered in blankets by officials because it was laying in the middle of the highway. I can infer it was strange for the policeman's to see this statue there because of their curious looks into it. It was probably used as piece of evidence in a case. I can infer this picture was taken a long time ago because the cars in the background look old and because the picture in black and white. Furthermore, the picture is taken somewhere in the United States in winter season because of the dry trees.

This picture is showing us a statue that is being covered up with a blanket by some policemen. There are three policemen observing the process while one of them is actually covering the statue. The statue that is being covered is the Virgin Mary. This statue looks old and very wasted. Also, the place that they are located looks dangerous and abandoned. In the back, you can see that the sign is all full of graffiti. So I infer that they are doing some research of the area may be in that area there was a house and the things got stoles. Also maybe the virgin was stolen or a truck was passing by and threw or the virgin fell out of the pickup. If we look carefully at one of the officers one of them has a notepad to write so maybe they are making an intense investigation. Also, they may be collecting evidence of a crime scene because the road is all empty and this crime scene may have happened at the rural. There aren’t a lot of constructions and buildings.

I think that some policemen from New York are going through an investigation and they found some evidence, being the religious figure. I can tell they are from New York because of the badges on their uniforms. I think this is a picture of some police that saw this and thought it was a person wrapped in a blanket but when they saw more closely it was only a religious statue. By the police officer badge in his shoulder we know that this was in New York and by the quality of the photo I think this was around 1990. I think maybe this was an act of someone disposing of “garbage” for him or a act of hatred against chrisianity.
In this picture, three policemen are taking a stolen art piece from a crime scene. This picture shows many things that support my claim. The first one is that it is evident that it is a crime scene or that there was some criminal activity there because of the police. One policeman has a clipboard, so he may be writing down all the evidence there is. It may also be a stolen piece since it is just there in the ground, and it may be forgotten or used in some way. I notice that the building beside them is full of graffiti, so this tells me that it is not a church or a religious place for that statue to be there. I also notice that it is in New York or some place in the outskirts of New York since the police badge has the name of the city. It may also be an old picture, since the cars are old, and the picture is in black and white. This is a very rare picture because it can be seen from many different views and can have many background stories to it, but this is my guess.

In this picture I see a group of police officers putting a blanket on a virgin statue. They look like they are on a road because there are not a lot of buildings. In this image, there are three men looking at a statue of Mary. Two appear to be police officers, and the third may be a regular civilian or even a priest. The three people are outside in an open space, possibly by a highway. There are cars in the background and what looks to be a sign or billboard next to one of the police officers. The sign has graffiti and the grass is overgrown, which tells me that this is not a place where people often visit. The man is also placing a blanket over the statue of Mary. They may be collecting evidence at a crime scene, which is why they are covering the statue with a blanket, trying to protect it. There could be some kind of religious tension in the area, causing the people of two different religions to commit crimes aganst eachother, leading to this picture

This is clearly Paul Blart’s Mall Cop. Blart is the actor in the middle, and the statue is their dead body prop. The car in the background is from another movie, Back to the Future. The fact that the car is in the background shows the carelessness of the directors.

I think that the police/officials are trying to cover up a religious figure. It appears to be a religious figure, since the police are covering it up. They probably would not cover any other figure if it wasn't serious or important. Also, the statue is wearing a crucifix. The setting appears to be a highway, for there is usually vandalism/liter, and the road appears to be continuous and long. There is vandalism/graffiti on the sign behind the police/official, and the most likely religious figure is lying in the bushes/thorns (?) appear to be dead. They are probably covering up the figure, because seeing a figure laying in the ground might offend some people, or it may even be a crime to do such a thing to a figure like that (which would explain the police. In this picture, te detectives are trying to solve a murder case. The stone statue made me previously believe that it was an ancient artifact, but the presence of police in the area made it seem as if it was a legal matter. The fact that it is near a graffitied building displays that the building is in a more urban or run-down area. The overgrown grass also shows that the building is in a more run-down area. Since the statue is being covered with the blanket instead of just being pulled up shows that it may be important. From previous knowledge, I know that during crime scene investigations, people try to determine who had taken part in the crime by looking for fingerprints. Therefore, the fact that they are being careful to avoid hand to statue contact supports this idea. Furthermore, the police officer is holding a clipboard and bending down to take a closer look at the statue. Since he has a large interest in it, it shows, once again, that the statue is of significance. The cars in the background seem to be older models, so I would assume that either the picture has been taken in the past or they do not have the funding to afford newer vehicles.

I see a statue that looks like Mary praying being covered by a police man. I also see two other policemen in the back with a cars and the back of a road sign with graffiti on it. This makes me think that maybe they are on a highway roadside. I can’t quite see what the badges and things say on the men's jacket but they look like policemen. I think that maybe this is a piece of evidence from a crime and they are taking it to the station. This would also explain the blanket because using that to pick it up would prevent further fingerprints. The picture seems old because its black and white but also from the style of cars in the background.
I feel like rule of thirds applies to this photo. I also think that leading line may apply because all of the men's eyesight travels down to the focus which is the statue on the ground.

I believe that in this picture, they are probably responding to a call about someone destroying the statues at the church, and to calm the people down they’re covering the statues like they would a person.

I think there was a crime that happened a long time ago and police officers are gathering evidence that might help solve what happened. I say this because I see a few police officers gathered around a statue trying to cover it up.
I this photo there are three men standing next to an angel statue that has been put on its side. One of the men is covering the angel in a blanket. I think this picture was taken sometime in the late 1900’s because the uniforms that the cops are wearing seems to be from a while ago and the cars in the background are older models. Three police officers have found/are observing a statue, I’m guessing of the Virgin Mary based on the structure and the cross necklace she’s holding. The statue is lying on its side on a towel or blanket behind a sign, about twenty feet off the road. One of the men is covering it with another blanket or towel. I think that what happened is someone tried to steal the statue, from a church or museum, and then dumped it on the side of the road when they were afraid of being caught. Based on the cars, how the photo is black and white, and how the men are dressed/facial hair, I’m guessing that this photo was taken in either the 1950s or the 1960s, probably in the fall or winter because the trees have no leaves, the underbrush is dead, and the men are wearing coats.

I think that the police are identifying a crime scene because there is a blanket that the police are using to maybe cover "evidence". Also one of the police are hold a clip board and maybe they were writing things down that where at the crime scene.
Many are thinking about the actions and motivations of the people in this photograph. The man closest to us appears to be either revealing or covering up the statue on the ground--perhaps as a sign of respect, to protect it from further damage, or to prepare it for moving. Because of the cop in the background they might be investigating some type of crime that happened. The graffiti of the wall makes it look like it is in a part of a run down area and because of the religious statue on the ground it could be at an old church or somewhere religious where they would have a statue outside of the area. Because the man is covering up the statue with a blanket and not surrounding it with tape and a number like a usual crime scene he could be planning to take it somewhere. The cars in the back look pretty old not like any modern day cars so this probably took place a long time ago. The cop on the very right is holding a hammer so maybe they did something and are trying to cover it up?
In this picture I see tat there are 2 police officers, and maybe an ordinary man in this old picture. This statue on the ground looks like it belongs in a Catholic Church because it is holding a rosary. The statue could have been stolen, or is being used as a piece of evidence in a crime seen. Maybe someone took it to the graffitied building.
I think the people in the picture are uncovering a statue. I say this because there already is a cloth under the statue and while the person holding the cloth up, the other people look serouisly at what could be uncovered.

In this picture i think that the person that probably committed a crime and took the mary statue from the church parking lot and dug a hole and buried it acting like its a person but took the body off and hid it somewhere else because he knew the police were coming to investigate the suspect the police cars look like there from the 80s so maybe this old crime because nowadays this kind of obery inst common
I think that it could be something along the lines of someone removing a tomb stone or part of a tomb stone and relocating it. the cops could have been called to find out why the Mary statue was there and just thrown on the floor. It is illegal to mess or disturb tomb stones so this would be why the cops were involved. there are cars all around in the background so they are most likely near a high way or road. With how the officer is un covering the Mary statue, someone could have thought it was a body since it looks like a body like figure. They uncovered it to find a statue of Mary. The guy bending down on his knees is obviously a police officer by what he's wearing ,the guy uncovering the statue looks like an investigator or something of that nature involving the FBI.
I see three men surrounding a statue. They look like they can be officers trying to figure out how the statue ( Mary) ended up on the floor. I think that it could have been a crime because it seems for the statue to be just laying down on the floor like that. We can also see graffiti on a building next to where the officers are surrounding. This looks like the picture is not currently taking place because the picture is black and white and not in color like it is now. In the background you can see a car which does not look like the cars that we would use now, so that also tells us that it is not in the current time that we are in.
The statue is christian and is representing mary thers an old 1950 styled car in the background and the glasses that the police officer is wearing was popular in the 50s.Theres is only one cop the stautue is fallen over so it may have a deeper meaning or they see covering the staute as a fomr o f respect.

Black/white image suggests picture was taken from the 1930s-60s. The expression on the cop's face looks as if he is trying to understand the situation he is investigating. Graffiti on the left on the wall suggests it happened in a poor or abandoned area. Middle policeman uniform suggests he is a higher official within the police rank and they are investigating a religious crime. Car models look as if they were about 50 years ago...

The first thing that I see in this picture is three men. All of then appear to cops or some sort of law enforcers. One of the officers seams to be covering up a statue of what could be a saint. Due to the black and white picture, old police uniforms, and old car we can tell this picture is old. When I look at all of the aspects of the picture I think this is some sort of crime scene. I think someone must have destroyed a church with explained the broken saint, and cops.
I see two police officers looking at a man holding a blanket over a statue. it looks like they are wearing jackets an there are a few cars behind them, I also see a sign and there are some dead trees behind the road. I think that in this picture it might be set around the time of late 1990 to early 2000, they might like in North Carolina or somewhere else on the east coast. In this picture I think that maybe this statue was sitting on the side of the road and this man saw it so he might have wanted it, the police could have thought it was strange that he was on the side of the road like this so they went to investigate. When they saw the man was only wrapping up the statue they realized that it was just left there and began talking with the man. Or someone died and this guy put up the stature and hurried the person, the police saw and they went to pay their respects and maybe thank the man.
In this image I see two men who are police officers. I think this because they are in similar uniforms with badges on them. There is a man who is covering what seems to be a holy statue. The statue is on a unkept area of grass on the side of the road. The wall in the back of the scene has graffiti on it .This picture could have been taken years back because of the style of car and due to the fact that the picture is in black and white. I believe that there was some sort of arguement about the statue and it was moved from its orginial location. I think this because the statue is out of place. Someone may have found the statue and called the athorites. They took the statue serious therefor they treated it as a regular case.
In this image there are two officers surrounding a statue. The statue is on the floor and a man is covering the statue with a sheet. The statue is of Mary, but the area they are in is very open and the way the statue is showed its as if someone had committed a murder. With the officers around its a crime scene and they are covering up the body. With the information I think that they have the statue(Mary) as the body, maybe someone moved the statue and brought it to the open area just to leave it lying there. The officers are covering the body as a sign of respect towards they statue and the religion, since in the case with a real body they would want to respect the person.

In this picture it appears that they are on the side of the road and that they are police officers. This statue was covered by a blanket or some sort of covering before they are removing it. It doesn't look like the kind of sheets they use for crime so that's why I think that.Since one of the police officers has a clipboard I think this is a lead to a crime or someone gave a notice, or had some sort of suspicion about the covered object. It could resemble a body from a distance if it is covered.
What I think is going on this picture is there is a statue on the floor so it must've been pushed by someone or something. It's probably very valuable because their is some police officers putting a blanket over the statue just as they do to humans. On the statue their is a cross on her neck so the statue might represent christian or catholic. Also the statue looks like Mary.
