Lots of square footage in these selections. The two houses have done well with their interiors. It would take a large family to do justice to the 8k Square foot home, and I found it very attractive. You are mixing up your presentations and I am thoroughly enjoying them. Thank you.

Wasn't the Germantown house featured some weeks ago? Anyway, always nice to see pictures of pretty houses.

Wow, the neighboring house of the St. Louis property is impressive (see photo 24).

That nearly 8,000 square ft Missouri brick box is the ugliest monstrosity I have ever seen. There's nothing redeeming. It lacks symmetry, and the off-putting masonry and windows are much better suited to a prison citadel; moreover, this overbuilt brick outhouse occupies far too much of the relatively tiny 0.5 acre of land on which it squats. As for the other two properties, neither is a monstrosity, but both are disappointing. The first is an incompatible use of the old school building, and the other seems like something out of a 19th century hausfrau's fever dream. And only $1.4 million!

@Mario My husband and I called the Missouri house a "1912 McMansion."

@Mario Jealous much?? They're beautiful houses, each and every one. I'm from St Louis so I know those houses very well. They've stood proudly for 100+ years, your opinion notwithstanding.

@Mario I'd love to see what registers to you as the perfect house.

I used to live in St Louis and I've always loved the enormous old houses in the Central West End. Washington Terrace is one of the prettiest private streets. I assume that this house has been "staged" for selling. The interior design is very poor and why anyone on earth wouldn't put a big comfortable sofa near that lovely fireplace in the paneled library, defies all logic. The kitchen was done perfectly for a house this age. I first became acquainted with the Central West End in 1962 and have always longed to live in one of those houses. Alas, at age 75 and now living in another city, this is one thing on my bucket list that will not be fulfilled. I have to admit that rattling around in such with just me and my two small dogs would be ridiculous. But I'd love those staff quarters over the garage and the staff to go with them!

The Somerville listing made me smile. In 1989 as a mortgage originator it took me months to get comps in Somerville for a large six bed room three bathroom house within five minute walk to a subway at Davis Square that was listed for $350K. It seems that "Slumerville" has morphed relatively rapidly into"Little Brooklyn".
