We can see that the person is a man, he only wears a pair of black pant. We see that there’s a bridge behind at the background, which means that cars can’t cross the two sides, which might be liquid like water, we can also see transparent liquids at his feet. He should be jumping up from the river and is jumping back in.
This picture makes me really mad about pollution problems. We’ve got someone diving into a river looking for some coins, and the water looks toxic by the sight of it. Why can’t factories stop dumping their toxic chemical waste into the ocean? Why can’t they treat instead of polluting the beautiful seas? The sea is a place where you go to be relaxed, not a landfill for you to dump your waste. Panasonic in Malaysia currently developed some way to treat waste so it becomes a powder, making it less polluting. That is only one way to reduce pollution. Save our beautiful planet, don’t destroy it.

Hi Raina, Grade 5 from the American International School of Chennai originally had a similar idea as you. Some of us in the class thought that the white stuff on the water was snow. However, after talking as a class we decided together that it looks more like foam. What do you think now that you have read everyone else's comments? Also, we think that instead of a helmet this guy has a big nice head of hair!
It almost looks like the foam above the water is from food/garbage. There are little bits of stuff on the bottom of the frame near the left, which kind of look like food remains. Maybe this man is raising awareness for dumping garbage in the water.

It looks like he's diving into snow at first, but if you take a closer look, you can see he's diving into foamy water. What looks like underneath the foam is part of a broken log, or flowers/Autumn leaves. It looks as if there's some sort of bridge behind him, and a wall further on in the distance. Our grade 8 class has the following ideas
-We first thought it might be snow. However, other evidence proved to us that it is more likely foamy water. For example, some of the lake does not have the white substance. The flowers wouldn't be growing if there was snow. Snow would glisten in the sun. Not all of the substance is evenly distributed. Therefore, we think it is foam/soap and not snow.
-We also noticed the flowers and thought they were interesting. One idea was that they are from some sort of celebration.

I can tell that it is polluted because at the bottom of the picture it looks like there is trash and that looks like where it started. Since it's all foamy and the water current is probably fast, that's why there's a ton of foam everywhere except in the background where there is no foam because the current gets cut off. I see some vibrant colors in the bottom of the picture, maybe his clothes, fungi, algae, maybe even animals. I also see that this looks to be a dam or some sort, or a secluded location. It might even be abandoned because of how rough the area looks.
The man seems to be jumping into a body of water that is foamy. The water seems that it has become dirtied by dumping waste or disposables into it, or due to the water coming out of the drain next to his jumping point. The man seems that he is trying to make a point without saying a word about how the Earth has become too dirty to enjoy the outdoors in various spots throughout the world.
It looks like he has been under the water, and is trying to dive back in like a dolphin.
It looks like the male is diving into some type of foamy substance in the water. It looks as if he is coming out of the water, because only his feet are wet. And I think he might be training to be a scuba diver, because the water in the ocean is really cold so he could be preparing.

It looks like a man is trying to dive in and out of sea foam. However, his arms are a little twisted. Maybe it’s a camera error?
The man is diving into the lake/river that is covered in what seems to be foam. The man in the picture seems to be in swimming attire, so he is either jumping into the body of water to as part of a bet or he is doing just to practice or by his on free will. There is also some yellow and red things that can be seen at the bottom left of the picture that can be anything form trash to his clothes.
Someone has just completed a challenge of not bathing and is finally ready to bathe. The lake looks as if soap has been poured in it. The man may be a swimmer because he seems to be doing a start off the ramp, but isn't in full streamline position.
It looks like to me that the man is diving into the sea foam and his friends probably dared him to dive into the cold water without clothes on and that he had to be tied when doing this so he did it.
I think that the white substance that floats on the water surface is foam because if you look closely you can see some bubbles that are pushed against the rock. The man probably is doing a challenge for diving in the water with foam because he seems to be prepared for the event.
Due to the dam the water was caused to get foamy, he could be double jointed in his arms. He jumped from the slant but the part that he jumped off of is in the water. He is a swimmer due to his clothing and gear.
In this picture, a man is swimming through a lake full of foam in only his shorts. If you look at his feet, there are splashes of water that indicate he is shooting out of the water. If you look at his arms, they are in a position that looks similar to a butterfly stroke which contributes to the claim that he is swimming. The white on the water is not ice/snow because he could not shoot out of the water if it was solid ice.
I think there's alot going on in this picture. To start off, the guy has a helmet which means he is not doing what he's doing just because he wants to. There must be some kind of competition or game he is playing. The river or water stream looks very contaminated so I’m guessing he is some kind of activist that is trying to prove a point. He is definitely protesting the contamination on the water.
The guy is jumping into a river and the white stuff sitting on top of the river is foam and I made this conclusion because in the corner of the picture there is soapy like bubbles. If the white stuff was ice then it probably wouldn't be on his leg and he probably wouldn't jump into the water.

This is most likely taking place in city from the industrial appearance of the bridge. The man is in a warmer climate because he is wearing barely any clothes and most likely jumping into the water to have fun.
Analysis Paragraph: There is a professional diver diving into to the contaminated waters. The water is white and it look dirty. Near the rocks it looks like there is trash that is contaminating the water. There is no evidence of life living there like fish or birds and not even other people swimming near. I notice that there is a dam and it is surrounded by bars so nobody can get or throw stuff inside the dam.
I think in my opinion that the man is doing a fun challenge. No normal person would do this. Also it is cold in the winter and there is snow and he is diving into the water. So maybe he is trying to make a funny post for people the laugh at. There is a dam in the background so, that's maybe why there is so much snow or frozen parts of the lake.
I think this is foam in a river and a professional swimmer is also seeing what may be causing that foam to take place and also he may have that rope right there just incase he is going to far and cannot make it back also he may just like to swim in the city and see all the cars etc.
I think that the man is doing the butterfly (a swimming technique) out of...sea foam?
I can see a bridge I think that they he is in city with a lot of traffic.
I think that he is practicing for a competition or maybe doing it for fun.
In the background he could be on the far side of the body of water because on the other side there seems like there is more attractions for a person to visit that place, and that he wanted to swim in private.

The guy is jumping into water covered in foam.
It seems this man is jumping out of sea foam or a snow covered water source. His arms are oddly positioned and it almost seems as if he is jumping or being dragged out of the water instead of into it since the water is coming up with him.
I think that the man is trying to do a stunt or something because it looks like he kinda knows what he's doing. I see some clothes and I think that the lake/water is covered in ice.
I believe that the man is diving in a river that is maybe closed off because at the back there is a wall. Also the water looks like it has soap in it because if you pay attention closely it looks like bubbles left behind in the water as the man dives. In the corner of the picture it seems to be crab and food that was probably taken there by the water currents.
In this picture published by the NYT I think that the man hovering over the foam jumped into the water. The man’s foot is wet and has foam adhered to it. He is arching his body towards the water indicating he jumped. The river seems to be from an industrial zone, which would account for the foam in the water. Furthermore the lack of other lifetypes near the river suggests a hazardous environment.
The picture seems to illustrate a younger man who appears to be diving into a body of water (possibly a lake) filled with foam most likely in a prohibited or off limits area. This is contingent on the massive bridge above the water in the background the area seems likely to be an urban and industrialised area, and does not seem like a location for swimming or any other athletic activity. I additionally gather the solution is foam because of the fact the mysterious solution all over the lake appears to also be stuck to the mans foot leads me away form the idea this is ice or snow and to the conslusion the substance may be some type of foam or soap. Also based on the mans action of jumping into this water which could contain dangerous chemicals or polltion in a seemingly off limits area, I conclude he is adventurous and portrays risky behavior.
I believe this person is training for the olympics. By swimming in the ice, it must help him go faster. He must not be very knowledgeable of swimming because there's ice. What sane person swims in ice? He probably doesn't have any other bodies of water to practice in and he's doing the best he can in this frozen body of water.
I believe that there is a challenge, no sane person would jump into a freezing lake out of fun. If he was in an emergency, he wouldn't have the time to take off most of his clothes to jump in. The man doesn't seem to be in apparent danger because if he was, the person taking the picture probably wouldn't have stopped to take a picture of this dude if they were truly in danger.
I think that there is foam put on top of the river and he is diving into the river. But i also think that they are trying to trick our eyes into making us think that it is ice.
