The bird could have flown back to his enclosure and the zoo flamingo flock, but chose freedom. Flamingo, I salute you.

Despite signboards to the contrary, Texas is a welcoming place!

There is an avian rescue & rehab facility south of Dallas. The grounds caretaker saw a flamingo in a pond on the property just a couple weeks ago.

They look so peaceful and lithe at the zoos. But now I know the truth - they are constantly plotting their escape. “We’re busting out tonight!” Pink Floyd reportedly said. Run, 492 - enjoy your life!

We believe that we saw No. 492 flying south along the Corpus Christi bay front on Sunday morning, June 10, 2018. We are in a high-rise building that faces north. A flash of pink in the sky caused us to look out and see the large bird flying about 100 yards from our balcony. At first, we thought it might have been a roseate spoonbill but it didn't have the characteristic long bill. Wish we had snapped a photo.

I saw that bird hanging out with a bunch of brown pelicans on the Houston Ship Channel in 2005, unless it was another escapee. Up until now I thought I was seeing things!

Would it be wreckless or unethical to bring a few flamingo friends to the area for 492? Also, definitely would be nice for 492 to have a name. It’s certainly not a Borg. If we’ve learned anything since November 2016, Resistance is NEVER futile. Name the bird. (And vote the other birds out!)

Introducing non-native species is always a bad idea. Think European Starlings, for example.

Keep going there's plenty in south Florida just walking around minding their own business.

All life seeks freedom of choice. Even American voters -- when they have their wits about them -- look for ways to improve their lives. May American voters of today come to their senses and choose to support others in the world who seek to better their lives by coming to our blessed nation to raise a family beneath our great flag.

492, you have made my day.

If I leave here tomorrow Would you still remember me? For I must be traveling on, now Cause there's too many places I've got to see But, if I stayed here with you, girl Things just couldn't be the same Cause I'm as free as a bird now And this bird you cannot change Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh And this bird you cannot change And this bird you cannot change Lord knows, I can't change Bye, bye, baby, it's been a sweet love Though this feeling I can't change But please don't take it so badly Cause Lord knows I'm to blame But, if I stayed here with you, girl Things just couldn't be the same Cause I'm as free as a bird now And this bird you'll never change Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh And this bird you cannot change And this bird you cannot change Lord knows, I can't change Lord help me, I can't change Lord, I can't change Won't you fly high, free bird, yeah
