And does anyone remember who closed Trader Vic's in The Plaza in New York? That's right - none other than the dastardly Donald Trump!! Before this devil man set his sights on destroying all of America, he purchased The Plaza Hotel and closed the venerable Trader Vic's in the basement! He said it "didn't have 'class'". Talk about un-American!! That act alone should be grounds for impeachment!!

No way, Tom. For three reasons. First of all, you seem to forget that Trader Vic was nothing but a chain restaurant, no different than TGI Fridays. Second, at one time there were more than two dozen of them in the USA. Not a single one is left, only the Arabs are interested in them now. There's a reason for that. Trump was recognizing an obvious fact. It was tacky. In a bad way. Third, as pointed out by another commenter here, Trader Vic was total cultural appropriation like Aunt Jemimah, and Trump was ahead of his time to get rid of it, intentional or not.

There is still a Trader Vic's in Atlanta at the Hilton.

Pouring Ribbons is a fantastic place

Will it feature little Polynesian stirrers in its menehune cocktails, รก la Trader Vic's?

Sweeping views of the city?? You're doing it wrong.

As one who lives in a high-rise close by, I'm concerned about the noise, especially of amplified music, that may come from the balcony with space for 200 drinkers. How is Community Board 4 dealing with this?

You live in midtown. If you want quiet move to jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, or one of the other boroughs. Also it says the place seats 200, 100 outside, please read carefully before jumping to conclusions.

Wow, those drinks look amazing! A tiki bar in Manhattan may sound overly ambitious and way too niche, but even if only a couple of percent of the people in NYC dig it, you could still potentially get thousands of customers. Good luck!

They've got a ways to go catch the venerable Tonga Room and Smuggler's Cove especially in San Francisco, but good luck with a great genre!

Good luck. Gonna need it.
