The article I read I found very interesting. The article talks about regular everyday clothes that the middle to low class would wear and talks about luxury brands and clothing items that the high class or 1% would wear. The article also talks and shows pictures about how some designers have truly expressed themselves through creativity and uniqueness. I really enjoyed reading the article because I love learning about clothes and reading about fashion because I hope to have a career in the industry one day.

Fashion companies and industries are always making new articles of clothing and styling things in different ways. Some companies use history as inspiration, in designing their clothing. Culture also plays a significant role in the clothes people wear. When looking at fashion pieces, traces from many cultures can be found and identified. People are entitled to wear whatever they want. Clothing is a way to express yourself. However people tend to wear what everyone else is wearing because they fear to be judged and criticized. People often gravitate towards trends. Whereas in today's society, people look up to celebrities, or their role model, and will often try to copy what they are wearing. People shopping on a budget often shop on clearance, where quantity is more important than quality to them. Whereas people who have a higher pay tend to go for more expensive items of clothing, and look at quality over quantity. In addition, peoples economic stability results in the clothes that they wear. The clothes a person wears can also correspond with where they live. For example, if someone lives in a cold based state or country then they would wear more bulky clothes to keep warm. In more urban settings, tend to wear street clothing for convenience. In addition to the resources that are available.

I believe that the events that happen in the world influences what people wear on a day to day basis. If we see a group of celebrities wearing some new fashion choices, people tend to follow how they dress. Also, if we see that someone made it to the news for dressing a certain way, negatively, people will not dress like that person because of all the negative attention they got. People judge you everyday on what you wear, so culture plays a huge role in what people wear. They dress like everyone else so that they won’t have as as great a chance of being judged. The clothes we wear reflect where we live and when we live because of the resources that are available in our area. Some resources may only be available in our area, limiting where people can get the materials.

Fashion is a reflection of what is taking place in the world. With the advance of technology society has become impatient and the rate at which fashion has progressed in the last few years has undoubtedly matched this new norm in modern society. Culture also plays a significant role in the clothes people wear. When looking at new fashion styles one can find traces of influence from many cultures. Fashion is a way for people to express themselves and it has driven people around the globe in the search for new styles and ways to portray their image to the world

Gucci, Balenciaga, Anti Social Social Club, etc. are lavish fashion forward companies. Their designers use modern events and prominent trends to make colossal statements. Gucci, in a recent fashion show, had models holding their own heads. I know, it’s notable peculiar but it represents having a understanding and being conscious of your personal growth. In the shows, most of what they put out symbolize things like climate change and other times they just try to top each other in who can exaggerate the latest trend or to make new trends. Very few people can afford their items and because they only make them in limited supply it drives people nuts. These designers are more artists than salesmen. It is acceptable that their pieces are highly priced. Yes, they do this to make money but no artist starts art to get rich. They make art because it’s their passion and they should be able to do what makes them happy and make a living off of it. When we think about a time period/culture we think of only the prominent moments/topics that sculpted it’s significance. Fashion is crucial to how people and major industries can express their viewpoint while still using what the do the best.

Times change fast nowadays. We were one thing and it out of style in two weeks. I feel this fast paced world is a result of how we change as humans in our many ever-evolving ways. Clothes have always represented something for it’s wearers. In the late 1700’s the rich would envelope themselves in rare animals skins and elaborate colorful dyed fabrics. All this superfluous clothing would depict the wealth of these people. Today the wealth in clothing is still seen but not nearly as much. We see less of a gap because clothes are more attainable for those “ballin on a budget”. Clothes today also have swayed away from belonging to one gender allowing this cross over to show how society’s acceptance has grown for those who don’t want to follow their gender stereotypes allow them to explore brighter colors, fun cuts, and patterns of clothes originally designated for a sole purpose. The closing gaps between men and women, rich and wealth, and black and white has allowed our communities to grow more unified while still allowing one to express themselves. Fashion overall has helped express the need for dismembering concepts that have configured a larger divide between different groups and allowed us to be seen as more equals with a nice pop of color to show everyone who we truly are.

Fashion is a way that people express themselves. People use outfits to represent who they are. I think that what people personally chose to wear does not reflect what is happening in the world. Some people would rather wear sweats and some people would rather wear jeans, it is just a preference between people.

Fashion is an art. And one common motive to create art is to exhibit current issues. So I believe with personal experience that fashion almost always expresses a deeper meaning relating to modern worldly ideals. My friends and I participated in a local fashion contest where the entire outfit was produced from books. But, one of my friend’s creations truly showed the mindset of a fashion designer. Towards her waist, one side had black spikes and the other had a soft feathered curve. She used these additions to display the tensions between people in society. Current events have affected fashion since the 20th century. It has been shown through Martin Margiela in the ‘80s, the time of the infamous stock market crash called Black Monday, by pushing his designs to be “purposefully made to look poor — because the world suddenly was.” Fashion can be seen in many ways. It could be a statement to go against society or something individuals who aren’t involved in the fashion world would find extremely eccentric.
