The year of 2018 consisted of a field of events that I can always come back to and remember. They may have been unsatisfactory or something to cherish. Many unwanted things happened, but a vast amount of new strings were tied. To start, many devastating or violent things have occurred including many shootings, killings, and debates on whether children should be separated from there parents for crossing the border illegally. There was the shooting at the Synagogue in Pittsburgh and this lead to the death of 11 people. Obviously this was unjust and innocent people were killed, but atleast they caught the person who killed them. On the bright side, there was the midterm elections which resulted in the democrats winning control of the house of representatives. They will have a opportunity to make sure that what is going on is the right thing for the people because sometimes individuals cannot make the proper decision. Overall, there were many losses and gains in 2018, and I am hopeful that next year can be a more productive year.

1.I held a concert (100 people max) 2. I got a gaming computer. 3. I got a new guitar 4. I filled my bag with 80 bags of school carrots. 5. I got into an entrepreneurship school. 6. I moved to another house 7. I got a bass guitar 8. I got a new car 9. I got a new phone 10. I went to a leadership conference 2017 was a great year. I really loved everything about that year. I did a lot of great stuff and I got a lot of new stuff. I enjoyed going to the leadership conference. it was a very good experience and it was a great opportunity to learn about leadership. I also attended to my favorites artists concerts. I really wasn't really excited for any new technology that was created in 2017 but I think there was a lot of great development. I think 2017 wasn't bad, I really cant think on the worst thing that happened. there was lot of stuff that I enjoyed in that year. Last year was very good I got to meet a lot of wonderful people and my mom got remarried after a long time of being alone. I think 2018 will be as good as 2017 but i'm not really sure cause many people started this year eating tide pods.

I believe 2017 was a very contrasted year : on one hand we saw unprecedented situations especially in the political sphere with Trump’s first year as President of the U.S or the French electoral campaign. Unfortunately, the same awful events we knew in previous years seems to be repeating it selves : terrorist attacks, natural disasters. In my opinion, 2017 was a great year in term of sporting events and cultural creation. Indeed, Paris, my hometown, was chosen to hold the 2024 Olympic Games and I believe it will be a thrilling experience. Furthermore, the incredible Brazilian football player Neymar arrived in Paris. From the cultural point of view, 2017 was a very productive year with great music albums such as Ipséité from the Belgian singer Damso. However, in 2017 burning and worrying issues were raised. First of all, the decision of Mr Trump to leave the Paris agreement weaken the chances for international political leaders to reach an agreement about climate change. Furthermore, 2017 has raised concerning issues about gender equality by showing that sexual assaults and harassments were unfortunately very common in our developed countries. The Weinstein case showed that until this movement that it was a taboo subject and women hesitated to complain about it. At the end of the day, 2017 was a fascinating year and I believe it is auspicious for the future.

The year 2017 has been for me a striking year, full of good surprises and of disillusions. Despite the substantial number of news that had a strong meaning for me I chose two events, the best and the worst, which can illustrate my perception of the 2017.

For me, the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and in Catalonia have been the worst events of the year 2017. It shows with others disasters such as the mass shooting in Los Angeles that barbarism and insanity still is exist in our contemporary world. It reminds me that humankind is still willing to kill and hurt with no purpose at all or in order to spread irrational ideologies. What happened during the 20th century might happen again. However, during the year 2017 there were also a plenty of good events.

The nomination of Paris for the Olympics Games in 2024 has been for me the best news of 2017. First of all, because I’m a Parisian therefore I hope I will be able to enjoy the Games in my own city. And then, because the Games will be a way to see how the French capital will be able to cope with it: hold the budget, create new line of subways and fulfil the Grand Paris, a massive project of urbanization to modernized Paris’s infrastructures.

These events are making me hopeful and skeptical for 2018 and the future of the world which will have to cope with major concerns: the environment, political issues and ISIS for instance.

2017 was a very special year for me.Even if I remember only the happy moments, when I reflect about it, I realize that there were also darker moments. Therefore what was the worst and the best moments of 2017 ? 2017 was a very special year as I turned 8 years old and was able to graduate. Officially I became an adult. Also I was able to enter Franklin a great 'classe préparatoire' where I was able to make a lot of friends. Moreover I know that the friends I made in my new school will be great friends even after we will quit Franklin. Still regarding my friends, 2017 was quite special for me as I realized my friends from my old school, the ones I was with since primary school were not real friend. Indeed, we took different paths which changed our personality. Moreover I was really happy as in 2017 I became an uncle. My sister who turned 26 had her first child, a girl named Emma. THis made me realize how much she has grown. For all these reasons, 2017 was the best year of my life. However more negative events darkened my year. Indeed as a great fan of the PSG, a soccer team, 2017 will forever stay the year of the remontada, where my favorite soccer team was 25 seconds away from qualifying into the next round of the Champions League? But we lost, the say which followed the match was one of the saddest of my entire life which made me realize that I did not have a lot of very sad days during my life. This simple analysis made me happy.

What do we have to remember from 2017? To begin with the positive aspects of the past year, I selected two events. 2017 was marked by a great number of whistle-blowers about sexual harassment suffered by many women. This freeing speech about sexual harassment is a step toward gender equality. Moreover, the astronautic mission named Proxima is a success: 60 experiences made in space, during which the young French Thomas Pesquet was sometimes his own test-subject, 4.500 tweets, thousands of pictures of the Earth and many spacewalks later, Thomas Pesquet landed in Kazakhstan on June. However, 2017 still reminds us that the world is not free of economic, social, or humanitarian misfortunes. President Donald Trump and the Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un are engaged in a childish nuclear clash via twitter which jeopardizes the whole world. Furthermore, world hunger keeps growing and 2017 has not reduced the biggest humanitarian crisis the world is currently from the end of the World War II. Finally, it has been six years since the Syrian war began, in March 2011, with citizens’ uprisings, and the conflict affecting the whole population and countries around Syria such as Lebanon is not close from ending and becomes one of the priority for the UN. For instance, the use of chemical arms by Bachar el-Assad’s army caused many casualties. Hoping for 2018 to be better than 2017, to react concretely to what seem to us unacceptable is the best way to make that happen.

Besides President Trump’s bans, Hurricanes and terrorist attacks, we can also look back on the last year with a sugar-coated vision. Because 2017 has also been a great year on a social matters in every part of the world. First this year have seen 4 new countries achieving mariage equality. Indeed, same sex mariage is now legal in Finland, Malta, Australia and Germany. Same sex couples can marry in 25 countries through out the globe. However, these countries are the most developed ones and homosexuality is still punished by death penalty in African or Asian countries. Then, the laws are changing to advance on women’s rights. A first step has been taken, thanks to women’s movements in Lebanon, Tunisia, and Jordan. Indeed, the archaic law that allowed men accused of rape to escape punishment if they married the person they raped have been repealed. Under certain conditions, women obtained this year the right to drive in Saudi Arabia, and to abort in Chile. The recent sexual harassment scandals in western countries will surely lead to a serious conversation about new reforms. Finally, the last elections in western countries have turned to be hopeful. If 2016 saw the democratic choice of Brexit and Trump, this last year far-right parties defeated in France and in the Netherland. Besides the nuclear threat against the world, we already know that North Korea will participate in winter Olympics in South Korea, symbol of the establishment of dialogue between these two countries.

Each New Year’s Eve, we realize that another page is turning, and that a lot of events occurred in our lives. We can therefore ask ourselves what were the worst and best things of 2017. First, we’ll start with the worst event, then we’ll see, what was for me the best thing of 2017. On one hand, let’s remember that 2017 was riddled with deaths. But one of them affected France more than any other. I’m thinking of Simone Veil, who died on June, and was one of the leading figures of feminism in France. Indeed, during 2017, the fight for women’s rights was stronger than ever, and the loss of the woman who allowed abortion saddened us, but reminded us what progress we’ve made and strengthened us to pursue the equal rights dream. Also, and more personally, the best thing of 2017 was the day I knew that I was accepted in Franklin. Indeed, I craved going in a good preparatory class, which seemed impossible for I was neither a Parisian nor in a renowned high school. So when I saw those words, “wish granted”, I simply couldn’t believe it. I checked at least 10 times that it wasn’t a bug, but when I understood it was true, I felt one of the most soothing wave of happiness I’ve ever felt, and I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing. To summarize, 2017 was indeed rich of events, which were really intense, and it surely will be remembered in our minds, and especially mine. But now we have also to focus on 2018 and ensure ourselves that it will be an even better year.

While Mr Trump posted on twitter his “2017 Fake News Awards” to commemorate the end of the year, it is in fact the time for us to review the passing year. But what were for me the best and worst news in 2017? 2017 was firstly a year of mourning, as several mass attacks have taken the life of poor innocent souls. What’s more, Mr Trump’s appearance as the new ‘most powerful man in the world’ was also part of those worst 2017 news to me. Was put under the spotlight a man who uses his fame to spread nationalism but also heinous thoughts of division, and is a climate skeptical. And while some people like him appeared, others disappeared. It was unfortunately the case of Jean d’Ormesson, a wise man who used his notoriety to spread positive thoughts in his books. He had a greater faith in humankind and his death saddened lots of us. However, some of 2017 best news also gave us hope. To me, the mediatisation of sexual harassment cases, firstly thanks to the Silence Breakers, is one of the best things that happened this year, allowing to bring to light a taboo issue in order to try get rid of it in the future. And finally, we can’t forget that the war against ISIS has finally came to an end in Iraq, after three years of bloody battle! But now their lands are liberated. It may be one small step for man but it is one giant leap for mankind’s battle against terrorism. To conclude, 2017 news might be mixed but made us hope for better turns.

Here we are, January 22nd, and it’s the same thing every year. We’ve been in 2018 for almost a month, and most of the resolutions we had decided to take, have already been broken. Yet, every year we wish each other the best for the year to come, hoping for health, success and wealth. Thus, in order to keep a good idea of this past year, we may wonder what was the best thing of 2017. At first sight, this event might not be seen as one of the most joyful of 2017, however, at the end, it appears to be. The Time’s magazine revealed on December 6th its traditional personality of the year. Notwithstanding, this time it was not about a single person but several : the first women who managed to say the unspeakable. In other words « the silence breakers » have ferreted out the Weinstein case to the thousands of people who followed them with the hashtag « me too ». The crux of the matter is that a record number of women had stayed quiet concerning the sexual harassment they went through. This movement, which scale shook the United States, has also freed women in other countries (#YoTambién in Spain for instance), leading to a new era where women can finally express themselves without being afraid no to be backed up. It seems that something has changed, and may give way to the end of a so-called inequality between men and women. In a word, I think our society had needed this awareness for a long time. Yet, the only thing we may hope is that it will continue in that way.

Just like all the naturals disasters such as hurricanes, floods or earthquakes which affected our world, this year had been filled by many upheavals. They smashed to pieces the balance of an already fickle world. First of all, in my opinion, Donald Trump’s arrival in the White House is a cause to the politic’s nervousness all around the world. Therefore, his choice to withdraw from the Paris agreements epitomizes his decisions, which are most of the time contradictory. For example, he refused to be on the cover of Times magazine in order to be the personality of the year. This is symbolic of how he has been an unfortunate leading vector of discrepancy and split. To my mind, Donald Trump’s awkwardness through his declarations and decisions represents unfortunately a huge part of my perception of the year. Moreover, while Trump woke up conflicts in his country and abroad, many others have just been intensified. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict got worse with the decisions of the US and Guatemala to settle down their embassies in Jerusalem. Furthermore, the terrorist attacks have sorely and merely flourished in the Middle east, bringing about instability. Finally, the expulsion of Rohingya’s of Burma is also a proof that peace is such a rare situation nowadays. Eventually even though 2017 didn’t further a calming, 2018 brings a bit of hope anyway. This can be demonstrated by the two Koreas’ willing to unify in a single hockey team.

Last September, Saudi Arabia government announced that women were being given the right to drive. The ban lifted many years ago had been fought for years until this recent day. The announcement confirms that women would be allowed to drive on their own and so, to get their proper driver license. This also means that they would not have to ask for any permission neither from their dads or their husbands. Rights for women are a controversial issue in the Middle East. Feminism is not seen as a laudable fight, but more like a threat to all the patriarchal system. The evolution of their living conditions as women and as citizen shows that progress is possible and that women should rise up for equality. In 2015, when women voted for the first time, a giant step was first made, here is another one and the world should gloat. Nevertheless, let’s not forget that it is only one step forward and not the end of this fight for equality. If women were given this right, it is also because they represent more than 15% of the labor force of the country. Giving them the right to ride by themselves is a way to free another potential labor force. It will then for sure, benefit the economy. Once again, this decision wasn’t meant to be a gift but more a strategic plan. If Women should never forget that their equal in every way to men, they should also fight even harder to prove them their value.

What were the best and worst things about 2017 for you ? I unfortunately want to begin with the sad events which took place during year 2017. In the first place, the environmental problems continued to appear and become disturbing. Indeed, on November 12th, 2017, a violent earthquake of magnitude 7,3 is felt in Iran and made 483 deaths. Furthermore, on January 20th, 2017, Donald Trump becomes officially the 45th president of the United States and we were able to see that he made a lot spoken about him during this year. He showed itself several times disrespectful on the social networks and today the tensions with the Korean north leader are intense. This year also suffered several attacks as that of Las Vegas on October 1st or still that of Barcelona. We can also note a rise of the populism as we can see it with the crisis in Catalonia. Now for the good things, we were able to notice the success of the astronaut Thomas Pesquet which after 196 days crossed in the space, came back to earth June 2nd, 2017. Moreover, on the 13h September 2017, Paris is chosen as the organizing city of the olympics of 2024. To conclude, on the 17th October, after 4 months of relentless fights, Syrian democratic strengths supported by the Westerners freed Raqqa, the main bastion of Daesh in Syria.

Once again the Times Square ball dropped in New York City, celebrating the dawn of a new year. Many on the 31st of December take new resolutions; to do so, it is necessary to review the year that just ended. What were the best and worst things of 2017 ? As a teenage girl, the highlight of 2017 was the coming forward of the Silence Breakers. This denunciation of sexual harassment, especially launched by the Harvey Weinstein case. I find it to be one of the best thing of 2017 as women have had the courage to denounce sexual assault, to stand up and refuse to be considered as objects, to affirm that they are more than just a body. And what is even better is that the public opinion agreed and sustained such claims. In my opinion, the best thing of 2017 is that it has officially been agreed that sexual assault is not okay, that women are not at the disposal of men. Yet in 2017 women still appeared as weak, frail, always defeated by men. The #MeToo Movement which followed the disclosure of the Harvey Weinstein case showed thousands of women all to denounce men that had treated her inappropriately over the past decade. I understand the psychological need to express such awful memories, but tweeting it has led to make women feebe , once again. One more time we appeared to be victims, assaulted and not being able to do anything but to tweet it ten years after.
May 2018 be the year when women stand out as as the equals of men, and not delicate preys.

In 2-017 it was great and also horrible, i made some great ,memories and made mistakes and bad decisions. I had a rough beginning of the year by not having a phone for 4 months, but i was able to learn that i didn't need a phone, or technology to live, and i became more social and my life was better. Summer 2017 was AMAZING! I had a best friend, great people, i was happy. And as the year was coming to an end people wanted to ruin, and start drama with me, i was happy but it slowly turned into anger, In 2-018 hopefully i will become more happy and positive, and be a better person.

In my opinion, 2017 was the best and worst year of my life so far. I loved and lost and had crazy experiences that made me realize that life is precious and needs to be treasured. I also realized that you need to appreciate each and every person that comes into your life, and continue to love and support them even if they leave. You've been a whirlwind, 2017, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
ZachL.HHHS (hanover)
2017 was a great year for me. It was such a great year for me because it was by best year of playing football. I was also the team captain and played better than I ever have. I also won the Iron Man award for football two years in a row. I also got my first car. There were a couple bad parts of 2017 as well. I dislocated my left shoulder twice and my right shoulder once playing football. I couldn't play in my homecoming game because of this. Also, now that everyone is getting older and going their separate ways, I have lost a lot of friends, even friends I've had since elementary school. I am also disappointed in some of the players on the football team because they were ineligible for most the year and could not help or dedicate themselves to the team. My uncle also had heart surgery two weeks ago.All and all though, 2017 has been a great year.
Jennafer HHHS (Hanover)
This past year of 2017 has been interesting.  There has been a lot of stuff that had happened in 2017.  The best thing that happened to me this year is I made some good friends. I came back to my old school, which I feel was a good decision.  There has been a lot of bad things more than good things.  My parents got a divorce and also there has been a lot of drama a school. But other then the bad things that happened 2017 has been an alright year.  I'm ready for 2018.
Eryn HHHS (Michigan)
In my opinion 2017 has been a good year. Yes, there were some ups and downs but we got through them. A lot has happened for me this year I moved schools which was hard but I got through it, I left most of my friends at my old school but I made some new ones. I lost a family member but, she is in a better place now. Lets just hope that 2018 is a much better year and I can enjoy it with people that I truly care about.
Ashleigh HHHS (Michigan)
Many people would say that this year has been nothing but disaster. Especially with all of the hurricanes that had hit all at once, the earthquakes in Mexico, and currently the wildfires in California. Some of the good things though, was the music. Music is a big thing to me so of course the many albums and songs that came out was the highlight of the year for me personally. I discovered many different artists such as Bad Suns, COIN, and Walk The Moon. even when Ed Sheeran released a new album, finally. I really have expanded my music taste and 2017 was the year for me to do that. Through this year though, I have lost quite a few family members and my family isn’t all that happy with one another. Even in my own house I feel like people are fighting but in the end, we still find our ways back to each other. We had gotten a puppy almost a year ago and even though he is a big responsibility, he is now family and personally one of my favorite pets I’ve had. This year I’ve grown so much as a person by coming out of my shell and making many new friends. I found out that I was accepted to my favorite college which has many of my friends there as well as a lot of new ones.
Javier HHHS (Michigan)
I would have to say the best thing in 2017, for me, has to be getting my pink slip for driver’s training. After waiting for so long it’s great to be able to drive now. I just can’t wait until I turn sixteen so I can get my drivers license. However, the worst part of the year has to be the presidential election. I am not upset about the results, but the state that the election left the nation in is terrible. Ever since the election the political left and right have been jumping at eachothers throats. What were generally peaceful protests and gatherings would turn into riots. The left and the right trying to see who would win in a competition of bashing each others skulls in. Whatever candidate would have won didn’t matter, there would still be people who were upset about the election. Over the past couple of years political parties have become more militant. The left forming groups such as Antifa and the right forming groups such as the Proud Boys. Even though I am generally fond of the Proud Boys, nobody should be going to protest with the idea in mind to beat as many people as possible. If people refuse to use their freedom of speech and they’d rather resort to violence, I’d have to say that is very un-American. We have the privilege to use our words without fear of the government suppressing us, but we would prefer to act like animals and fight in the streets.
Jacob HHHS (Hanover)
The best thing about 2017 to me is just that I’m a senior and I got accepted to Central Michigan University so I’m excited about that and the worst thing about 2017 is that this is the last time I will see most of the people in my grade.
JuliaHHHS (Hanover)
2017 was a pretty good year for me. I would say the highlights of the year for me were starting my senior year, getting accepted into Central Michigan University, getting my first job and getting my new car. I’m also very excited about Christmas this year. Now that I have a job, I have my own money to buy gifts for other people. The worst parts of this year were mostly the things happening all over the world. Like, all of the fights, crime, and racism going on in the world.
Edwyn HHHS (School)
I have had a good year. I got a job over the summer and went into my final year of high school. I have had plenty of fun times with my family and even met met my cousin's newborn son. The worst thing that has happened is that I have to present my senior portfolio today. It leaves dread in the pit of my stomach even though I know it isn't as bad as it seems.
Mitchell HHHS (US)
In 2017, it has been a good year this year. This year, one of the best things that has happened this year is winning the state championship in cross country. Also, I was employed at a great job. I also got accepted to the college that I really wanted to go to. I was nervous to see who won the world series. Lastly, it was great when I became student council board president. Some of the bad things include the hurricanes. Also, The wildfires in California. It was also scary to see all of the terrorist attacks. I also disliked coming off of the student council class and moving to board. Lastly, I did not like the outcome of the world series.
Harley HHHS (Hanover Horton, Michigan)
2017 was a year filled with tragedies. There were natural disasters, hate crimes, and terrorist attacks. Great musicians commited suicide. Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington died. Stone Temple Pilots officially lost their second singer. The music industry had horrible fights and arguments on songs and beats. There’s currently a wildfire destroying California.Hate crime is up 40% since president trump got inaugurated
Chan HHHs (Michigan)
The best things that happened in 2017 was that I had a great football season, Eminem released a new album called "Revival", and I will be graduating from high school to move onto college which is awesome. Now with the bad things in 2017 starting with Trump becoming president and showing his true colors against people of color, then a rapper called Lil Pump that can't rap and gives these little kids bad influences on them, and lastly the tragedies that have happened to people from Las Vegas and victims of hurricane Irma and Maria.
Noah HHHS (Michigan)
I've had some ups and downs this year. I'll start on the depressing side. I lost my varsity spot on my school's Cross Country team this year, that hurt, a lot. I have to take Pre-Calc Chemistry, enough said. On top of that my best friend moved (kills me inside.) My dog has cancer or some disease, I'm not sure what. Donald Trump was also made president. Good things. I managed to help my XC team win the Portage invite. I won my age division in a Turkey Trot and placed 7th overall. I met my best friend. I read a lot of books and watched a lot of Star Trek. Cross Country camp was fun as well.
Zach H HHHS (Hanover Horton)
2017 was a good year for me. For one, Kendrick Lamar’s new album was absolutely great to listen to for the first time. It was a unique taste after his previous album “To Pimp a Butterfly” went massively successful. Listening to J. Cole’s new album “4 Your Eyez Only” was a whole new perspective for me. Songs such as “Ville Mentality” and “Change” introduced me to a whole new world in his eyes to tell me a story. Despite all of the good that happened in this world, there are some tragic, unforgettable events that happened here we’ll never forget. In recent months, two mass shootings have taken news outlets channels and websites into my eyes. The mass shooting in Las Vegas claimed lives of 58 people and injured more than 300 people. Also, the mass shooting at a church in Texas claimed multiple lifes. Millions of hearts across the United States where shattered, but nothing done. I’m hoping that change can be taken place in order to prevent these and future shootings here in the U.S. not just in 2018, but today. 2017 was a better year for me than the past and hopefully much better in 2018.
Grayson HHHS (Michigan)
2017 has been a very interesting year. The best thing that happened to me this year was joining the Law Enforcement program at one of the local career centers. It has been one of the best experiences not only for me personally, but for also what I want to do as a future career. I have made some really good friends and going to the career center is by far my favorite part of the day. Although there is always good things that happen, there is for sure bad things that occur too. This year, my great grandma passed away and we were very close. I never imagined her going so soon and it was something that I never want to experience again. The most exciting thing that is going to happen for me is definitely graduating. Ever since Freshman year, I've been ready to get out of high school. I hope that 2018 is better and is more exciting than what 2017 brought to the table.
AryannaHHHS (Hanover, MI)
I my opinion 2017 hasn’t been the best thing for the US. I mean a lot of stuff happened. From the presidency being corrupted to even the weather we had. For example everyone is suddenly accusing everyone who is famous of harassment or rape in someway or another and I get it is a thing to talk about, but it got to a point for me where I’m just sick of hearing about it and don’t believe any of it anymore. Not to mention the net neutrality thing, which is a completely ridiculous way to gain more money. Another thing is the weather, from the two major hurricanes that hit Texas and Florida, to the wildfires that plagued California because of the major drought they were in. Despite all the bad news though, there were some good times. Like the eclipse that happened in August. While I didn’t get to see anything, it was nice to see videos about the eclipse. This year also created some good movies too like Stars Wars or the my little pony movie, don’t judge me. I also got to make some new friends, who are amazing, at my career center class too. Another good thing that did come out of this year is not having to do so many exams because a lot of the class exams are already done or I’m exempt from.

A lot has happened throughout 2017, good and bad things. Starting off my senior year I was out for a month and was in a few hospitals due to have a serve case of mono. Yet I got accepted to a few colleges and have the offer and chance to run track at a higher level. My cousin also gave birth to my youngest cousin in August giving my family the greatest blessing. Also Donald J Trump went it to office. Good? Bad? Bad. My school boy's cross c country team won States and made history for my school. Everything that has happened throughout this year that I have came across has helped me have a different view on life, or change me as a person. Each year I will go through bumps in my life but its what I do to get over those problems which make me into the person I am.

The best thing about me for 2017 was winning a state championship. So much work went into us winning the 2017 state meet for cross country. While it doesn't get the recognition it deserves, winning a state title is a huge accomplishment. The worst thing about 2017 was the fact that many celebrities died. Although many left us, their famous works will live on for many years to come.

The best thing during 2017 for me was getting multiple jobs at different companies. I also had a great baseball season and I have gone to multiple prospect camps to show off my arm. My favorite part of 2017 had to be spring break. My family and I went to Destin Florida and we had a great time there.

The best thing that happened to me this year of 2017 was going to the Renaissance festival with my aunt and uncle. Seeing the joust and the wenches was my favorite watching at the festival. Eating big turkey legs. Eating huge foods that were bigger than my face. The worst for me in 2017, was getting a tooth infection and had to go get root canal for the first time. I never felt so much pain in my life over the months having the infection.

For me, 2017 was mostly good. One of the best things for me was cross country this year, I ran well and had fun with all of my teammates. Another good thing about this year was the solar eclipse, that was one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my sixteen years on Earth. I also got to spend my birthday in Myrtle Beach this year, and got to see the ocean for the first time which was something I thought was really cool. A lot of good music came out this year, I had one of the best playlists that I think I've ever had. One of the best things is that I only have one year left in high school, and less than a year to pick where I choose to continue my academic and athletic career. The worst thing for me this year was not being able to complete my track season due to an injury I sustained during the winter time. Another thing that isn't particularly terrible but definitely is different is junior year. Junior year is tough, and they warn you about it but I struggled the first couple of months learning how to adapt to my different classes. I like a challenge though so it all worked out in the end. One of the worsts things about this year for everyone in general was having to watch the massacres that occurred at the concerts, in Las Vegas and Manchester. It's so sad to see how many innocent lives were taken, and how messed up some people can be. Another terrible thing this year was the hurricanes and storms, more lives were taken in these events too, which is really sad.

2017 was the year of hardships that helped me grow into the person I am now. To classify the things that happened to me this year into the worst and best things to happen is hard due to the worst things helping me improve myself. One of the worst things to happen to me this year was for my aunt to move into my house. I know that does not seem bad at all, but just wait. My aunt was a bad alcoholic that had nowhere else to go. My mother, my aunt’s youngest sister, took her under her wing and let her stay at our house. We all thought that my aunt, Becky, would only stay for a couple weeks. Those couple weeks turned into four months. She flipped my family upside down. All Becky did was yell at my mother, drink my parents’ alcohol, and put everyone else in an awful mood. I hated her for doing this, especially to my poor mother who was the one to give her a roof over her head. This time period of Becky’s stay pushed me to grow into a miserable person at first, but then instead of letting it affect me negatively, I took it and let it teach me the lessons of independence and further my positivity. It pushed me to be the light inside my house that started to grow dark. My mother became distant because of the way Becky made her feel. I grew more independent than I ever had been before. After four, hard months, Becky went to rehab. My family is back to normal, but I still am left with the lessons her stay had taught me. I believe it made me grow into the better person that I am today.
