The gun rights advocate today said that one of the reasons not to take AR-15s away is because there are too many already out there. I think this is exactly the key point. If we continue not to limit guns, there will be so many everywhere that we will not feel safe anywhere. We need to stop the flood of guns into our lives in hopes that eventually there will be so few that my great grandchildren might feel safe once again in this country. Logic like this man's only intensifies the likelihood of mass shootings and chaos.

Bannon seems delusional....from all Ive read about him he has seemingly fell in love with his image and power. In my opinion, Virginians who voted Democrats were in fact Democrats, not people who would have voted for Gillespie if only he were more Trumpian....it's laughable and scary how close this creep has been ti the true power brokers of America (and how he has overstated the cult base).

I read about 5 times faster than a speaker speaks, and would prefer to spend a fifth the time reading this as required to listen to it. Does the Times provide a transcript somewhere?

I listened this morning and was astounded by the description of the Texas gun culture, and how this latest mass murder will likely lead to more guns and more people carrying firearms as they go about their lives. I've never been to Texas, but I would love to visit, and it's been my plan to vacation there with our family. Not anymore. For me, the gun issue always comes back to the observation by Anton Chekhov: "If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired." Our first act was to let the NRA dictate the position of the gun on the wall. We're now watching the following act.

I love The Daily and listen to it every day. But not today. Steve Bannon is utterly without merit on any topic and his opinions are not worth a moment of attention or consideration. And for future reference, any of the current president’s sycophants are equally a waste of time: Conway, Miller, the lot of them. When I want to hear white supremacists and crypto-fascists rant about how misunderstood they are by the big, bad, liberal snowflakes, I go to Facebook, not the New York Times. See you tomorrow.

No one needs this disgusting racist's opinions. Please stop legitimating him by booking and interviewing him as if anything he says is valuable.

What has this person ever done to receive the recognition of the media other than distort it?

Baboon Bannon is a nothing, a nobody were it not for his money. He's another greedy, self-centered, arrogant (probably alcoholic) deluded, tired, bitter and angry man of no consequence. Once again with these various Republican types, it'a all about greed, money, power and control. Yeah, there are a few women in the cult, but mostly men, and they all deserve to be castrated. The sick thing about our society today is this instant celebrity and reality show culture and mentality. We sensationalize violence, politics and sex for ratings and money. I'm so tired of thee pathetic substanceless people like Bannon, Trump, Pence, Ryan, McConnell. They all make me sick.

The real war is what Trump and Republicans in Congress are waging against working and middle class Americans, and Mr Bannon is a war criminal in that sense.

People who carry all think they are going to be the hero in a John Ford western, a delusional and dangerous fantasy. Your guest is sure he could have taken down the Colorado movie shooter , but he has nothing but the fact that he owns a gun to back that up. Why would you give half the podcast to one man’s view on this important issue?

Why would you give half the podcast to one man’s view on this important issue? Why indeed. So we can see with our ears what twisted logic looks like and learn. I listened, forced myself to listen, to this man's convictions to better understand the problems we're facing when people like him act on their skewed beliefs. Yes, he's dangerous, and his lack of awareness is stunning. Thanks to NYT for shining light.

I am trying to figure out why the NYT would give Bannon a platform. He represents the very worst of this country - his toxic lies, innuendos, and hate speech breeds division, violence, and ignorance. If folks want to read/hear him, let them go to Brietbart to do their own research. But, please, don't validate him by giving him a voice here.

Let Steve Bannon and his minions believe that Tuesday had nothing to do with rejecting Trump. Outcomes matter, not his utter refusal to believe Trump isn't hurting the GOP. The difference in VA was getting out the vote and grass-roots organizing. That is the wave. Steve Bannon and Trump are not.

Why does the NYTimes keep providing a forum for white supremacists (whether or not they try to cloak them under the guise of "economic nationalism") to air their views?
Cambridge Lady (MA)
Why are you aiding Stephen Bannon to spread his toxicity by providing this channel for his voice? Surely you can report the news without actually playing the speech. With all due respect, it's sickening, and very disappointing to see here.

I appreciate when you interview people from opposing political views. But in regards to the gun rights advocate you interviewed today, it seemed there was an obvious question that remain unasked (or unaired). The gentleman believes that tragedies like Sandy Hook occurred because they was no "good guy with a gun" to stop him. But Texas has some of the most permissive concealed carry laws in the nation. How come the recent tragedy could not be avoided by those good guys with guns? Also he thinks he could have stopped the Las Vegas massacre. How the heck could he have taken out a guy 20 stories off the ground? I so wish to hear his response to these.

Bannon is a failed staffer with a regressive administration. No-one elected him to anything. Why does the media treat him like a boba fide political leader?
