New York City residents beware. Next year when the Senators and Assembly members want something big, the Governor is going to propose changing the name of your city to....... "Andrew Cuomo City" in the tradition of Houston and Austin.
The man is a legend in his own mind.

Once again, NYC has to negotiate with Albany to get a fairly basic right. And once again, it means Upstate will get more tax dollars.

When will the NYT start noting and headlining this decades long travesty? Will it be when NYC pays 75% of the taxes and gets back 25%? NYC pays 90% and gets back 10%?

When?!!!

Why not give the full price tag of mayoral control of schools?
"including additional money for flood victims on Lake Ontario; access to more money for road and well construction in the Adirondack region; and a relief package for Vernon Downs, a racetrack and casino near Utica."

What was left off the list so that Albany gossip and backslapping could be included in the article?

I guess that was all the news fit to print.

Please don't rename the Tappan Zee Bridge after Mario Cuomo, New York's worst governor in my lifetime. He doesn't deserve this, especially if it means taking an honor away from Malcolm Wilson after whom the bridge is now named. Keep calling it the Tappan Zee. We like that.

For that matter Let's restore the name Triborough Bridge. I don't know one person who refers to it as the "RFK". If the Kennedys don't like it they can change their name to Triborough.

I don't even think that this replacement bridge was necessary. We have bridges that are over 100 years old. We maintain them and if they need fixin' we fix 'em. The Tappan Zee couldn't be fixed and maintained?

I half think that Cuomo put this bridge up just so he could pull this stunt.

Why do these clowns get a two-month vacation at our expense? Is this something that we voted for?

Teachers unions control most Democrats in New York and the price for their endorsements, campaign contributions and electioneering assistance is to toe the line on all issues important to the teachers unions. Lavish benefits, wage increases more than inflation, lack of accountability and most importantly eliminating any competitive threats (charters) which show how ineffectual is the corrupt system the unions basically run.

The lives of the desperate parents and students on the charter school waiting lists hungering for a chance at a decent education means nothing to the unions (and the teachers that support these anti-choice initiatives). Shame on them all.

when is it going to be clear that on average charters are bad?
Look at the stats.

I read the Standford Credo report. Charters perform better.

How is it that sensible legislation benefiting our children and not adding a penny to the taxpayer's burden requires a "sweetener" to pass? Do NYC school children have a stake in upstate racetracks and casinos? Oh and by the way why not throw in a plaque for the Governer's father?

WHY is a guy who's apparently a "state senator" in New York wearing a cowboy hat? Is Albany the Wild West? Or right, sorry, of course it IS, where lawlessness, theft, and corruption run rampant!

Guys who are losing their hair will wear any kind of junk on their heads to cover up the hair loss.
