Please, leash people. It isn't likely that a lumbering old dog is going to dash anywhere. You sound like helicopter parents.

You'd be surprised at the energy an old or sick dog can muster when it catches sight of a squirrel, bird, cat or other dog.

This made me smile, our bulldog is old, and slow and has back trouble, so we let him take the block at his own pace. In the winter he wears a red plaid coat and sometimes people will ask me 'is he with you?" and I think to myself, 'no, he just put on his coat and decided to take a stroll by himself!'.

It's incredibly stupid to have a dog off-leash. They could suddenly dash into traffic when they see another dog or a squirrel, and be hit by a car.

Dogs should be on leashes!!!

All the rest is idle chatter!

I see we now have the writer's name again. Really sweet story. Love bulldogs.

There is just no need to ever have any dogs on a leash and under control in a big city -- let them roam free, much to the delight of all adults and children alike.

Sarcasm?
Maybe. Anyway, a big city is a marvelous dog toilet, is it not?

My sister worked at Animal Medical Center on the upper East side. The number one cause of injured and lost animals? Breaking the leash law. Loose animals beat up others, get hit by cars, and run off.

The story clearly states that the woman was holding Zelda's poo bag in her hand.

What a sweet, sweet piece! And a sweet dog!

Run this article through a word cloud. It will charm you even more.

My mother would have loved that story. Her name was Zelda.
