i infer that this is a parade and they are stopping for the deer to pass. as a symbol of respect and to not harm the deer.
Jake Paul (Team 10 House)
da deer are protesting so da cars wont kill themagain
Boomchickapop (planet earth)
It looks like these people were in the middle of a parade, but they're stopping so the animal herd can pass by.
Rocio Requena (Houston)
it looks like there's a parade and deer are crossing the street.
Valerie (houston)
I see people marching and they stopped because they are looking at dears crossing the street in a single file line.
celeste m. (galena park)
i see people marching around they are wearing red suites and black hats and on the street there are deers passing through
Charly Uzdavinis (Old Forge)
It looks like there are a group of deer crossing a road in front o fa marching band. Some of the deer look very young at they all still have dots on their backs. It looks like a pretty big marching band maybe practicing for a parade or waiting for a parade to start because they are all in uniform. I think these deer are going somewhere where there is lots of wildlife because it looks like they are coming from a city crossing a park. I think they are coming from a city because there is a lot of traffic, people and cars int he background.
Anfer 208 (Toronto)
There is deer crossing the road while there is traffic in the backround, along with cars. There is street lights, along with flags. Colours shown are mostly red and green. There is grass on both sides, this picture is multi coloured.
Alex (Galena Park)
The image appears to be deer crossing the road in front of a marching band in the city. Perhaps it could be a ceremony for a festival, or the unusual migration of deer in front of a marching band downtown.

Hello, where can we view the VTS-facilitated discussion that takes place on Mondays?
Adrianna U (Houston tx)
i see a parade in the back ground . and they have stopped because they see some deer walking across the street.
Adrianna U (Houston tx)
i see a parade of people in the background. they have stopped in the middle of the street because there is a herd of deer walking across the street.

I think this picture shows a
Tradition where they throw water at a girl because it’s a special day, maybe of her wedding.
Ashley Colunga (Galena Park, Texas)
In this picture it looks like there's a parade going on but the herd of deers are blocking the street
David Valdez (Galena Park High School)
looks the doors crossing the street the parade from walking across so everyone stops and waits till they get across so they can go on with the parade.
Sarah Unicorn (Toronto)
we think that this photo was taken in a park in New York or London. we also think that the deer are photoshopped.
project kids and cameras (toronto)
We see deer crossing the street in the middle of a parade. From what we have observed it looks as the photo was taken in a town in Canada or England. We think this because the people in the background are wearing a uniform that looks as if it belongs to palace guards. It also seems like the deer are photoshopped?
Daniel Regalado (Huron CA)
Last year in Los Angeles the marching band tried to scare away a herd of deer by playing their instruments very loud. Although the deer wouldn't move, by standing in the street for the crowd watching.
Gracie (Huron)
On April 28,2017, there was a parade on Cherry St. but then there were some deer crossing the street. After the deer were on the street the people that were marching during the parade the people stopped so that the deer could cross.
JenniferP (Huron, Ca)
On Monday morning, a marching band were performing downtown Fresno. While they are performing a herd of deer were crossing the street which made the band stop.
Jimmy (Huron)
On April 27, a marching band was making their way to 8th street when a herd of deer blocked the road. The marching band had to wait for a half an hour so the deer could pass.
Bryan Gonzalez (TX)
It look like people block off the road so the herd of deer's can walk across the road and the people in the red are watching the deer walk by. It's like they made commmunity so they can help baby deer's so they won't get ran over.
celeste m. (galena park)
i see people dress as if like they are going to a marching band some of them are sitting down on the street and there are some rainders passing through a bunch of them and theres like traffic going on for all the people
Ty'Quarius Murrray (Orrville Alabama)
It looks like there is a parade for human and deer. I say that because i see alot of humans in uniform and a crowd and i see lots of deer. I can see that its like a remembrance parade because of the old fashion uniforms.
MrsLee for PEACHES Rm 9 (Pearl City, Hawaii)
There is a parade. The band is in red uniforms. The deer are imitating the marchers. The band is waiting for the deer to cross the road. The band is blocking the cars so the deer can cross.
MrsLee for PEACHES Rm 9 (Pearl City, Hawaii)
The deer might be migrating or getting hunted so that's why they're on the move. Or maybe it's a herd of deer fleeing a forest fire. Or maybe the deer want to join the parade because they heard the music. The deer look like they ruined the parade. Or maybe the deer are supposed to be part of the parade.
Destiny Sanchez (Galena park high school)
they had to stop the traffic due to all the deer coming by
Jeff M. (Houston)
in this photo, it appears to be the end of a parade and the herd of deer feel that it is finally safe to cross
Thomas (Toronto)
I think that this is a photo of a marching band and they stopped for deer to pass by. I think it’s a marching band because I can see brass instruments in the background and the way they dress look like how a marching band would dress. Behind the band it looks like there is a lot of traffic so they might be waiting for the deer to pass too. This might be in Canada because I can see a red and white flag that looks like the Canadian flag. Also, the marching band is dressed in white and red. Behind the first row there looks like there is another row of band members.

The photo looks a little bit fake or photo shopped because you can’t see the texture of the grass but that just might be the way the photo was taken or the way the grass was cut. Also, It’s a little weird that there are so many deer crossing the road. But other than that it looks realistic. The photo might have been taken because this is the first time so many deer had crossed this road so it is a really rare moment for this area.
Jimmie (Powell)
In the picture i see deers crossing the road and a band and other people watch as they cross the road.
Caden Farley (NJ)
I think the marching band is planing a parade for the last football game of the season as it's nearly springtime (based on the grass' vibrant color). The deer, however, are startled by the overwhelming amount of noise so they decided to dart off into a nearby forest. And finally, the traffic is waiting impatiently for EVERYTHING (marching band, deer, etc.) to pass.
Christian C (GPHS)
It looks like there was a parade going on but there was a interruption by the deer. They were crossing the road probably going to another ground full of fresh grass.
Dayna (old forge)
In this photograph there seems to be a parade going on in the background. In the foreground I can see there are many deers crossing. I believe to be a parade because in the background there are many people dressed in red uniforms. These uniforms see to be some of from a marching band. Behind this marching band there are lots of people as well as cars. It also seems that part of the road is blocked off for the parade. I am curious to find out where this photograph was taken. I also wonder what this parade could be for.
Cris (São Paulo)
Humm....I think it's bad idea sit on the grass wearing white pants....
Eian Knudsen (New York)
What I see in this photo is a herd of deer crossing a street. I see a marching band as well, and what I think they are doing is blocking the road so the deer can cross safely. I would say this is in Europe due to the designs of the lamps and trucks in the background, as well as the flag which is green, white and red. Many flags have these colors, but it could be the Hungarian, or Italian.
Joseph Townsend (Old Forge, NY)
There is a herd of deer crossing a street. There is a marching band waiting on the other side of the deer. I think the band is waiting for the deer to pass before they continue. By the design of the lamps it make me think this is somewhere in europe. There are flags of some king hanging in the background. Also by the yellow truck in the background looks european as well.
Melissa (Hoffman)
In this photo there is a ton of deer crossing the road in front of people all in uniform. The people in uniform are in a marching band because they have bronze instruments and the hats they have. They have a flag in the background as well. They are also in the middle of the street and there are cars behind them too. All the deer crossing have spots which means they are all baby deer.
David Ehrensbeck (Old Forge, NY)
In this photo, we see a large herd of deer crossing a road in a city. Behind the deer I see a marching band, who are wearing red uniforms. I thought it was a very funny picture at first glance. I also think that the band might be done with the parade, because some of them are sitting on the curb, and others have their instruments on the ground. There is also a small ditch, for the deer to jump over.
Alex Sutherland (Old Forge, NY)
In this photo, I think there will be a parade. In my opinion, that is the only thing that could justify a marching band, a herd of deer, and an empty city street all occurring at the same time. I think that this photo takes place sometime from early spring/mid-summer because of the very green grass. This may be a historical city. I think this because of the lampposts that line the streets.
Jorge L (Galena park)
There are deer crossing the road which blocks the marching band to pass and causing traffic.
Thomas (Toronto)

In this photo it seems like there is things happening that are odd. There’s a group of deer running across the road and seems to never end. In the background there’s a marching band and they are just sitting there a watching the deer. I’m guessing there’s just a large herd of deer that are getting out of the way of a parade. In the background there’s a lot of cars a people so maybe there is some type of celebration for something or someone going on also.
Thomas (Toronto)

What i think this photo is explaining how a marching band was trying to go through its usual route, or the route it was supposed to go and these deer got in the way. The band doesn't know what to do so they wait as the deer walk across the road. It seems like t takes awhile so they play their music for the deer. The deer seem to like the music so much that they move faster. After this, they go on their way enroute
Aaron Mekkri (Tow)
I think this photo is a about some sort of march or parade since there seems to be a marching band in the background. During or before the parade starts there also seems to be a deer crossing in the are where the march or parade is going to go through.
Present (Texas)
Those Axis deer were imported to Texas from India, so I have a yard full of them, but the flags in the background suggest these are back home in India. Cows get right of way there, so apparently the Axis do, too, when they move in herds, (which they do down here). As they're invasive pests, they're always in season - delicious.
Creon P (Tx)
I think that in this picture shows a marching band playing music for everybody. Also a group of dear come in and take up the entire road. This is a high indication that their habitat is getting destroyed. With no habitat they need to resort to finding a new place to live and survive.
raciel (galena park)
Thers a group of deer thats crossing the road as a pack. it looks like its in London and a group of soldiers are just there watching it happening hanging out. In the background it looks like theres a traffic jam or a road is closed.
Jose C. (houston)
I see deer crossing the road, in the background i see a parade or a festival of some sort, and the deer are probably in a the same family and the parade stopped so that the animals could cross the road. They didnt wanna mess with them because you know how people are these days, and the deer are crossing the road because they are going to the other side meaning they just wanna cross into a better side and move on, meaning i dont see how this picture could have any deeper possible meaning then that or in any way relate this to English`, so yeah ...
Jordan (Toronto)
I think this photo is a marching band playing music and doing their thing, and all of a sudden, some deer want to listen to the wonderful music. The deer don’t want to interrupt, so they just walk ahead of the band so they can walk beside them. I think these deer are magical and can understand human music. The band director is confused and calls the police, the reason he called the police is because he looked at the end of the deer's horde and it seemed to never end. When the police arrived they said they didn't see anything. Then the director told the band if they saw the deer, and they said yes. Then he told them the deer disappeared once they passed the road. The director signaled his band to continue marching. When they reached the deer, they walked right through them, then a man came out of nowhere and said he made a project image that projected moving deer. The man then said he wanted to see if the photo would look cool with real photoshop deer. He apologized for not warning them about it. Then he asked them to go back a little and he would take a photo. When the director saw the complete photoshop photo, he said it looked incredible and was pleased with the photographer decision to take their photo.
Anderson (Toronto)
I think that in this picture on a beautiful spring morning, that there is a marching band playing music for everybody. But just then a wild pack of dear come in and hog the road. I think that a global issue for this is that their habitat is getting destroyed. With no habitat they need to resort to finding a new place to live. This is a very bad global issue and has to be stopped fast or else the whole country will overflow with dear and other animals too. In conclusion I think that this global issue is very bad and that it will get worse if we don’t do anything about it.
M R (NH)
a herd of chital deer (spotted deer) appear to be way out of place, and perhaps photoshopped into the scene (native of India); what appears to be an urban park of some kind has what appears to be a red-and-white uniformed marching band waiting for something; nearby is an official building (roman architecture) or structure because there are flags of multiple states or countries, one of which is Ireland; in the background there may be a blue sign with a white "H" for hospital
M R (NH)
Just to add that it looks like a dignitary of some importance is being driven in a limousine toward the building or structure - perhaps a residence or embassy? The deer could be symbolic - something to do with India - leaving, or being forced to leave - the area they were in. The street in the background is lined with what appears to be media/photographers. The presence of the yellow truck is a puzzle.
Sam (Toronto)
I think that this is a picture of a closed road. I think that the original intention of closing the road was so that a marching band could perform. Then… while the marching band was just finishing setting up, a herd of deer came as if it was planned this way. And then they stole the show. Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh. Because of that, the marching band had to wait a bit to put on the show. I think that this picture was taken at the entrance to central park. If my guess to what this image is about is correct, this image connects to this global issue: overpopulated species in urban cities. This image makes me think a bit about what kinds of animals live in central park.
Myles (Toronto)
In this picture I see deers photoshopped into this picture. I think that because literally half of the dears are floating in the air. I also think that these deers are photoshoped is deers live in a forest and it shows there coming from flat grass in fact it looks like turf. In the background of this picture I see a carnival and a marching band leading the way. I think the city could be celebrating the chinese new year or when the cavs won the NBA finals and everyone is celebrating for their victory. Behind the marching band it looks like their is a traffic jam because everyone is trying to get to this big celebration or event. I think this event was taken place in China. I think that because I can see flags that look like Chinese flags. I know this because Chinese flags and Japanese flags are red and white.
Alex Sutherland (Old Forge, NY)
I didn't notice the deer could be photoshopped in, this is a great observation.
Liam (Toronto)
Down the road I see a clump of reindeer. Behind it is the santa day parade with all of the people surrounding the marching band like bees around honey. I think this picture is photoshop and it’s supposed to be a joke. I can tell this is photoshop because the reindeer are not on the curb, they are floating and because everything is blurry and it's a city and deer don’t live in cities.
Deanna (WI)
i think there is a deer crossing a parade going on at the same time because i see there is a heard of deer and people in uniforms and instruments like they are in a parade
Erin (wi)
I think that the people are a marching band or a parade and I think the people are getting ready for something or is done with something and I think the deer in the road are photo shopped or a some type of deer or it might be deer from a deer park and i don't think these are american deer because they have spots, and i think that it might be in Britain.
Caden (wisconson)
i thing it is in britan because of all the unform. And there having a parade because the insterments. But they had to stop because of all the deer.
Af (wisconsin)
i think this is in Germany and those red people in the suits are gaurds to keep every in in place the deer are crossing the road because there is a season that they migrate to the hills for more food and the gaurds are also blocking the road.
Harlie (wi)
This picture is about deer that are crossing the street and a marching band because the black hats white pants and i see the interments. the band is watching the deer go by. What kind of deer there are some fawns, bucks, and dose it looks like the picture was toke in England because the band is wearing red and England's color is red.
Kieran .S (wisconsin)
It looks like there is a band about march but it has been interrupted by deer. I guessing that there is a band march because you can see the people in the background dressed in there band school uniforms and you can see some interments. I think they are dear because the three bucks have horns and white dots and up here in Wisconsin we do not see bucks with white dots on them but only fawns up here have white dots and these deer are very small.
Halie (WI)
It looks like that there is a large group of deer that are moving to a different place to eat food and there are people in uniforms that are red and white. There is a buck that has long horns. All of the deer have white spots on them. The Cops closed down the road that the deer are crossing because all of the deer that are crossing the road. I have seen lots of deer in my backyard and my neighbor's yard to eating a whole bunch of grass. The people that are in red and white have instruments I think there is going to be a parade. there's a lot of people are watching the deer cross the road with vehicles pulled over. I think this might end England because there are people that dress in white and black and red And it looks like it is a city to.
Brandon (WI)
I think that it is a parade and they cant start in till all the elk go past and their is a big elk I know that because their is a elk in Trig's by the meat's but that is a sure big herd of elk.
Stephen Crowther (London, England)
Looks like a herd of deer walking past Indonesia's honor guard as they wait for the arrival of Saudi Arabia's King Salman at the presidential palace in Bogor.
sean (Wisconsin)
In this picture it looks like there is a parade because there is a band in the background and they all stopped for some reason there is deer in front of them and they can go anywhere, but why is there so many deer maybe there was a game farm that broke out and they are got away and they might have been a zoo that broke out or it might have Been the dear migrating to a different place.
Thank you thank you very much
Julia B (Rhode Island)
Phoenix Park, Dublin Ireland? I know they have a large deer herd in the park and it certainly looks like a parade is about to start.
Maire (Boston)
Somewhere in Britain, a parade is about to get started from a manor house with a deer park. The city has grown up around this manor house with the deer park. I'm thinking British Isles because it's not sunny and the grass is really green, and I think I've seen deer like this in a deer park there. They are not like the run of the mill American deer because they all have spots, even the one with the big rack. I don't see any initials of monarchs anywhere so I don't think it's a royal palace.
melany martinez (houston)
a lot of little deers things are crossing the streerts, and because of this the marching band cant proceed, must hang back while the deers are crossing the street
Adrian C. (C.A.)
There is a herd of deer crossing the road in front of what seems to be a parade or some sort of celebration. But based of off the large group of people in the background, the streetlights, and the Indonesian flags, this might be a celebration for someone very important, maybe a leader of some sort. Also, the hats that the "marching band" is wearing that has the yellow stripe across, this is most likely the Indonesian honor guard. I don't think the honor guard was stopped by the deers for two reasons. One, because they are a good distance away from the deer, and two, because some of the people in the honor guard are sitting down. If it was stopped, they would still be standing because they would be in the midst of a very important person. This leads me to believe that they are waiting for the important person arrive. Also, the nice and clean street lamps and the cleanly cut grass on the sides makes me think that they got this area prepared for this person.
NYHUGUENOT (Charlotte, NC)
Never mind the picture the interesting part to me were the number of people who don't know that the plural of "deer" is "deer" not "deers"
The one fawn is almost a year older and approaching adulthood as evidenced by his antlers.
Alex (Galena Park)
There are deer crossing the road next to a marching band in the city.
Jessica G (Wisconsin)
Based on the street lams and flags im guessing this takes place somewhere in Europe. That marching band seems to be waiting for the deer to pass and/or their show to start? After reading comments that the deer are photoshopped i'm not sure if i agree or not. On one hand its unusual to see that many deer passing down the road in such a neat line while on the other hand, the deer over the ditch seem to be leaping across it, and they have their own shadow which adds to its authenticity.
William Hernandez (Galena Park)
In this picture, it looks like there's a parade that has came to a halt due to deer crossing the street. It also appears as though this sighting in unfamiliar to them due to the distance between the marchers and the deer. The real question is who is doing the marching? The deer? or the marching people. This picture also appears to be outside of the United states because of the lamp post along with the flags in the back round. If i would have to guess the people pictured in this photo are danish.
william arevalo (houston)
it looks like a time when all the deer and doves seem to be passing through the street and the guards are holding there position to make sure noone hits them.
Azael G. (Galena Park)
There seems to be some kind of parade going on and they willingly stopped to allow the heard of dear pass. It's an act of service to the world by humans and i actually find a lot of beauty in it.
August Evans (houston tx)
A lot of weird little deer things are crossing the streets, and because of this, the red and white marching band (probably really british GUARDS or something, but marching band people, for the sake of humor) can't proceed, and must hang back while the tiny stampede, well, stampedes.
V.L.K (Elson)
I think that there is a deer crossing sign.
Dharsshana (Toronto)
The deer are crossing the street because the parade has stopped and the deer need to find food or other resources. Also this is taking place in England because of the red and white soldiers and flags.
Marcus (Asia)
It's in India!
carol goldstein (new york)
I'm pretty sure that is a Danish flag on the third pole from right. And the congestion in the background puts it in a city. I'm taking a wild guess that the picture was taken near an entrance to Tivoli in Copenhagen. Tivoli is an amusement park with outdoor restaurants, animal acts, etc. Sort of a small scale Disneyland. The band would be an everyday sight there.

The deer are likely some northern European species that normally travels in larger herds than our North American deer. I don't remember a deer herd but I've only been to Tivoli once.
Valerie (houston)
In this picture it shows a group of bad marching in the street while their is a line of deer crossing it and the marching band is only staring at them.
Rocio Requena (Houston)
it looks like theres a parade in the backround and a whole bunch of deers inturrupted the parade
Nate Gunnell (School)
It looks like the deer had a parade of their own.
Jennifer (Houston TX)
it looks like a marching band or parade. it's coming towards where some deers are walking across the road. I guess the marching band had to stop because they can't just walk across them. I think of this because they are all dress up with some type of uniform and hats. Plus the whole parade lights which can be cars and the deers with their long horns and white dots.
Mrs. Lang (South River, NJ)
WE think the deer were photoshopped into this picture. The marching band is stopped and not performing. Maybe it is some kind of campaign for saving animals. This might take place in Switzerland.
morgan (DC)
all the fawns have photoshopped heads/
Robert (Schenectady, New York)
This looks like young deer at one of Queen Elizabeth's residences are being moved from one fenced area to another while students dressed as royal guards look on.
Mrs. Trepanier's Class (Indianapolis)
It looks like the fawns, Bambi, and her buck are going for a walk.
Kassandra V (Galena park, tx)
there is a band in the back so it is possible that there is a festival going on. the band has stopped because, this shows that the people of the country they are in has respect for wild life.
Woodlands (Waterloo, Ontario)
Oh deer! This looks like deer have held up a parade. One person thinks this may be in England. One person thinks this may be in Canada. We think the picture was taken in the spring. We think it may be the Teen Tour Band.
autumn (wayne,mi)
there was a marching band and the deer came by and heard the music and might got scared from the music
sabby (new jersey)
It seems as though the deer are walking away from something and the marching band is waiting for the deer to cross. The flags may also represent where this photo was taken along with the color of the marching band's uniform. Lastly, it looks like there is a lot of traffic and there's some sort of parade going on.

It kind of looks like the deer were photo-shopped in there, but I'm not sure.
D Chung (Fort Lee)
This seems like a parade for the United Nations, since there's different flags. The deer are following something, so the guards are waiting for them to move.
Saad (Fort Lee)
A parade might be happening and there are a lot of people who wants to watch the parade. Though there are blocking the way and causing the traffic. While this is happening, the marching band can't do anything.
Evan (Fort Lee, NJ)
I think this picture is regarding an event that brings the United Nations together to have a meeting on what is going on in the world. The deer, marching band, and other activities going on there symbolize an opening welcome for every country entering ours.
Gretter Lopez Juvier (Fort Lee)
The marching band is waiting for the deer to cross .The flags mean that this picture was taken in another country .
Felix (Fort Lee)
This picture look like if there is an something special that they are gonna do because the street look like an entrance and they are all wearing uniforms.
Yohan (New Jersey)
A troop of deer just cross the road and a marching band was in this way but see the deer and wait a long time for the dear to pass .
AA (New Jersey)
I think this picture is about deers walking from something, but have to cross a road. The marching band are waiting for the deer to cross, so that they can continue the parade filled with flags, vehicles, and music.
Alonso M (Houston)
A heard of deer crossing a road where the band was supposed to be marching its sort of a parade or something similar to that.
Brandonn (HTX)
There seems to be a sort of parade or event occurring in the background of a chaotic interruption by an unsuspected guest. The deer are crossing the street in a semi formal manner that was enjoyed by a near by photographer. It could also be a type of migration that is recognized by the public.
SaeeLiza (Texas)
In this picture it seems like there was a parade going on and it had to be stopped due to the deer getting into the path of the marching band. The marching seems to also be waiting for the deer to pass through so that they may continue with the parade.
Jose L.C. (Houston)
There was a marching band parading but had to wait for the deer to cross. They kept their distance to not frighten them. They bandmembers used this time to relax and gain some energy and just sit down. The deers are all bambis because they all have white dots in the back of their light brown fur. In the back seems to be major traffic ,they are cars really crowded. This could be caused by the deers crossing the road.
gisselle (houston)
As you can see there is a marching band that is not doing anything and there is also deer's crossing the road. If this was a type of parade going on you would see people on the streets which you don't, you just see people watching them and cars in the background trying to get in so if anything the band is stopping the cars from reaching the dears that are crossing the street
Nat (Houston)
There what seems to be a men or a marching band dressed in all red. All the traffic is stopped to see these little deer or fawns crossing the road in a herd. These men seem to be stopping traffic so that these deer can cross without being harmed or bothered.
Destinie (Texas)
This picture shows a parade of people in the back of a stampede of deer. The deer photoshopped into the picture, but i believe that the deer are being honored because the parade seems to have stopped because of the deers.

Oddly enough, the deer stampede in the photograph are nothing but baby deers crossing the road due to their migration patterns to get to a certain location. The city that this is take might be a city in the U.K. I base this inference off of the tight space of the traffic in the back, the design of the light posts, and the band that is waiting for the young deerlings to pass. This might be happening in a park, and it is on a special event that resembles that of a parade. This could also be a once in a lifetime moment, or it could be an annual, awe-inspiring event.
carol goldstein (new york)
They are not that young. At least not the one with full blown antlers just to the right of the ditch.
Bailey (Texas)
This seems like a celebration or parade that is being interrupted by a herd of deer. It seems to be somewhere like Britain because the men are dressed in red military uniforms similar to those of the "red coats." There are a lot of cars in the back which points to the fact that this is in a metropolitan area such as London.
Ms. Currie's Class (Calgary, Canada)
We think that this picture was taken in a city because the street behind the deer is busy. This picture looks a little photo-shopped and that the deer were added into the picture later. The people in the background may be a marching band or soldiers or even a choir because they have matching outfits and are carrying what looks to be instruments. Some students think that the deer are on their way to graze or feed, or are running away from something that is dangerous. This picture may be taken in New York because deer are more common in North America than in Europe.
Sennett School (Madison, WI)
I think the deer are safer because people are blocking the road.
South (Middletown)
We see people wearing the same uniform. Maybe they are palace guards who are not doing their job because there are a lot of deer crossing the street from the palace. The street could be an entrance to a palace. The road is blocked because of the deer. Also, the light is red, however, there are not any cars on the road.
P Hall (Valdosta)
This picture is photo shopped and did not naturally occur.
Casey (Kouts, Indiana)
Deer crossing. the deer are crossing. more deer are crossing.
Jocelyn M (Galena Park)
It looks like there was a parade but it had to be stopped because a bunch of deer were passing by and the people in the parade didn't want to get in there way. It looks like the deer may be migrating and they happened to get in the way of a parade forcing them to stop the parade. Its obvious the people stopped since the marching band are sitting on the street and they are information.
EC (MN)
I think that there is a parade going on and their was a deer crossing and the people marching in the band had to stop the cars from passing or they are British army men who are stoping the cars for the deer to cross. their must be a trail of deer.
Brianna (Houston)
In this picture there seems to be a marching band planning to march across a paved road in a park, however they've been interrupted by a herd of deer. In the background there seems to be international flags, and there also seems to be a lot of traffic behind the marching band. I believe there was supposed to be a international festival, but instead it has been postponed.

In the background it looks like its a marching band. So they put their interments down so they wont scare the deer and doe.

I think that this photo is photshoped becase it doesnt look real enough.and the people are at a parade or something or blocking the phtoshopped deer.
jaz (texas)
It looks like a sort of parade or something like that since there are people in uniforms. Which seem to be blocking traffic to let some deer cross the road. Maybe as a sort of tradition. I think this is taken in England, because of the clothing the band is using and the background.

i think that the does got scaerd of something and in the back roud it looks like a lot of peaple are in the middle of the road while the does go a cros the road they look like does to me i wonder were ther parents are

I think the Brititsh army is stopping the cars so the deer can go by and the men are watching to see if the deer have made it cross the road. The deer look like they are going to the other side for more room and more food.
shyann (sms)
I think the British army could be setting things up like blocking the cars and there are deer crossing the road and they are running and walking there could be a lot of noses that could be scaring the deer away.

this seems like there was a parade going on and there was a band and out of the ordinary a bunch of deer come out of no were and the band is put back and are on hold now this seems like a lot and i mean a lot so i would do the same stop to not frighten them and they would go all crazy and start jumping. theres one that has huge horns and trust me if someone had a shotgun and was a good hunter and loved hunting call that a bloody rampage
Luis (Houston)
i think its brittish force is stopping people from crossing the road because the pack of deer is crossing and they making sure they go through safely
amberleighpederson (St.Germain WI)
In this picture, It looks like people could be walking for a fundraiser and getting money for every mile they walk. The people looked shocked because they have never seen that many deer before. It kinda looks like it could be in China or a region around there because behind all the people there's a lot of cars. Those deer look like they could be white-tailed deer because of the spots on their back.
Thomas Leto III (Wisconsin)
I think this is a edited picture because the background picture looks fake but the deer look real anyway this also looks like a marching band that had to stop marching on chinese new year because of the "deer"
Raul (houston)
Their was a parade in england but they had to stop because the deer gon on the way and also you can see that they are already tired of waiting
Soha A (Dallas, Texas)
I think there is a marching band from England because of their uniforms. I can't tell what the flags are but I know there is something like people from there. It is in a big city. The deer are crossing because they are moving to a different place. There is also a parade going on. It looks like everything is crowded. All the deer are very young.
Steve H. (Chapel Hill)
One of the deer has a pixie head.
Pat (Atlanta)
First a herd of deer moving as a group across a paved road in what seems to be a park. One of the deer has very tall antlers...seems different from the deer around here in the southern US. Could they be reindeer? The park is located in a city.... so beyond the gates are the traffic and traffic noise of the city flowing back and forth. That is, one end has deer on the move and the other end of the photograph has a modern city's traffic. In between, a band...some musical instruments seem to be on the ground at the feet of the waiting marchers. Behind the band, a group of mounted riders... so probably a military parade.
Doraluz (Bucaramanga)
A parade has stopped allowing the deers to pass through. The eldest Der, with its big horns, is in the middle of its mates. And all the trafic has stopped. Might be Canadá? O near a rural area? Many deers, lots of respect.
Areli (Houston TX)
it would be like a gathering of some kind of meeting or something that is making the deers pass by to get noticed over something
ND Life SKills (Burlington, ON, Canada)
As a class we see a marching band (some students thought the may be British soldiers) stopped in the middle of a road. We know they are a band because we can see the gold tubas and other wind instruments on the ground. They have stopped because there is a herd of deer crossing the road. We believe it is a big herd because some of the band members have decided to sit on the side of the road. There seems to be a lot of traffic and many more people in the background. For that reason, we thought this may be a parade of some sort. The focus of the image is on the deer, which suggests to us that the person taking the picture is more interested in the deer than the possible parade going on in the background. We also see flags on flagpoles to the right. We think one flag is orange, white and green. Maybe this is happening in Ireland? The other flag seems to be red and white. Maybe this is a St. Patrick's Day parade. It will be interesting to read what other students came up with.
vs (NJ)
Couple of observations:
1. Photo gives a feeling of Humans have stopped to give animals preference.
2. Given the fact that some of the band members have sat down, i am assuming that they expect the whole crossing to take some time. So, my view is that some deer herder is get his herd from one area to another. May be 100s of deer are involved.
Anonymous commenter#H (Canada)
I think that the are could be England and I heard that there are actually a lot of deer in England, and my guess is that there's like a parade going on because there are people in red and white clothes with like instruments in their hands, and there jut so happens that a herd of deer runs by, creating a stop to the parade, explaining the reason why it looks like there is a lot of traffic behind, where the parade is happening.
Aeryn Alvarez (AOSE)
A group of deer are crossing the road, preventing the band (they hand several instruments with them) from going any further. I'd say it's in England from the look of the band members and scenery.
MJD (<br/>)
I think a marching band is just stopped to rest or is waiting to start on a parade and a herd of deer happen to make their way across a road in a park. I think the setting is in Europe somewhere because of the lamp posts and shape of the cars on the other side of the people in uniform. I don't think that the marching band stopped because of the deer crossing. There aren't any crowds to see the in park area, it just happens to be a stopping point. Also, many of the matching band members have their backs to the deer and are looking in the opposite direction.
Aiman (Brooklyn, NY)
This picture looks like it was taken in India. A herd of Indian Spotted Deer are crossing a road after a marching band has done their pass. The band members seem to be resting after their performance/rehearsal. The colonial architecture of the building on the right provides affirmation that this is probably India.
Miki (New York)
It seems to be in India and after raining since lawn looks wet. Lots of dears start to move because it stopped raining.
Ms Kelly's Tutor Group (Myanmar)
We can see deer, a marching band or parade, and traffic in the background. We think maybe they are holding up the traffic so the deer can cross. We think it might be in England, because they look a bit like the British army. It looks like they are in the middle of a celebration or festival.

The brittish army are gathered at the entrance of area where the deer are crossing the road for a place for them or running awy from other people.

I think the deers are crosing from a parade at France, Also looks that it’s on the afternoon the people look that the people are getting ready for a parade.

What I think is going on in the picture is that the guys were marching. While they were on their way down the road they got slowed down by a herd of deer's. I think it took place during a parade in France.

From my point of view i think that the people in red are maybe in the army . They might be trying to help the deers cross because, the people are are blocking the cars from crossing.

There are a bunch of deer claiming their territory. Showing those punks who’s boss. Except for the marching band isn’t moving, so there’s not really a point. Also, it’s a pretty busy city. Why are there a bunch of cows? I mean, it’s probably photo shopped but still.
Darius (d)
It looks like a parade interrupted by deer and they are in Chicago what it seems like.
Aeryn Alvarez (AOSE)
What makes you say that it's Chicago? You didn't provide any evidence from the photo. Also, why do you say that it's a parade?
Jason.C (Houston)
It look like it is Photoshop, but it is not. There is a bunch of deer's running through the road and stop the British Soldier during a parade.
Aeryn Alvarez (AOSE)
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it looked badly photoshopped! Why do you think the people in the back are British Soldiers?
Aurora (pleasanton)
It seems like there is a marching band or a parade. It looks like the parade was delayed because there were deer crossing the road that they were marching on. The parade members had to wait until the deer had finished crossing before they continued the parade. The grass is fresh and green, so it is spring, or the grass could be fake.
The deer's patterns/texture seems very similar or the same. I thought for some reason that the baby deers only had spots not the adults but maybe it is a different breed.

A parade is delayed due to the deer crowd that looks like they are migrating. So the marching band would have to wait for the deer crowd to cross. The grass is fresh which means that it is spring.

In this picture I think that the deer are following the family and are crossing the marchers and the parade. the people there are letting them cross and are probably staring at them cross.

In this picture i see white spotted deer that are crossing the road. There are people looking at them like if i was something special, but i think it was a migration of deer. Another think that it could of possibly be happening is that there was probably a parade going on and the people saw them and so they stopped so they can give the deer a chance to cross and then keep on going with the parade.

There is a whole bunch of deer crossing a street road, and in the background there is some people that are wearing some type of uniform that is white and red. In the back there are a whole bunch of cars and trucks, and stop lights. There are flags and a white building, there are some people who are sitting down and some standing up. There are also light post that have gold on them.

There is a herd of Axis deer crossing a road that looks like people are guarding the street so that no one will hit them.
There is people wearing what looks like a red and white clothing so that people can see them so that they will stop.
There is a lot of cars and people in the background.
Kayli Zakos (Heidi Trask)
In this picture it looks like there is a parade and a group of deer are crossing the street during it. It looks like the deer shouldn't be there cause they live in the woods but this is a open city area. They could be finding a new place to stay or going to find food. Standing behind the deer looks like a band that stopped to watch deer cross the street.

They where in the middle of a parade and a herd of deer starts to run across the road. I say this because there is a band in the back and lots of deer, also lost of cars. It also looks like someone in the band fell over.

@Deirdra! Thanks for joining the discussion this morning. You have created a backstory with action and sound. You think the animals may have been scared by the loud noise of guns or cannons. When I read “reenactment of war”, I think of something ceremonious- or something commemorating history- bringing history to life. What do you see that makes you say that there is a reliving of an event happening, as opposed to a new event?
Ms. Currie's Class (Calgary, Canada)
We think this picture shows a parade that is interrupted by deer. However, we think that this picture is photo-shopped because the deer look unnatural, especially their floating legs. If this was a real photo their legs would be more blurry because they would be moving faster. Maybe, the deer were supposed to be part of the parade but got loose or were let out too early.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
Hello @Ms. Currie’s Class! Thank you for writing in… and thank you for working together to understand this image. You are working with the LEGS on the deer… and describe them in several ways: unnatural, floating, and in focus. The legs of the deer are making you question whether or not this image was changed or manipulated in some way. What do you see that makes you say the animals should be moving fast, with speed, and it should be blurred? And what do you see that makes you say the legs are floating, or not on the ground? Nice job to you all!

There was a marching band today and the beginning of the marching band had to stop because there was deer crossing. but they only say 5 deer so they begin to play their instruments again but then come all the other deer so the band just sat on the sidewalk because they know it was going to be a long time. The marching band people are in red and white uniforms so I am thinking that they are from Canada. You can tell that in the background they blocked the road because the road is jammed with cars and people.

One day, Bob a police officer was working traffic because the stop lights stopped working. When Bob was doing traffic he looked behind him and he saw a herd of deer crossing the road. So Bob had to stop traffic until all of the deer gets out of the road. The band kids came out wondering what was going on. Bob asked the band kids to go get there instruments to play and make a lot of noise to scare the deer off.

Hi there @Jacob Bailis- thanks for joining in. You have a new idea or a new theory about why these animals are on the move- perhaps they are running FROM something.

I think this picture is about an event that is causing traffic probably to help protect and lead on the deer. It is probably called an animal parade.
Andrea (walla walla)
it looks as if there is a parade in the back round, but there seems to be a herd of deer. it seems as if the parade as stopped because of the deer's passing by. it looks like if they are in a city, I can see lamp posts and flags and some cars, too.

it looks like they are protecting the deer because they are crossing the road and the soldiers are making sure the cars don't go by the deer

I think that people were trying to do a reenactment of a war. When they were shooting the guns/cannons they scared the deer out of their home, or wherever they were. There are a lot of babies so that means the picture was taken in the spring, recently.
emily (walla walla)
It looks like there is a parade going on because of the men in the suits which look like a band and there are many cars behind them which makes it seem like a parade of some kind and since they aren't moving we can predict that the deer crossing the road have something to do with it.
Casey.AOSE (Academy of Saint Elizabeth)
In this picture, a parade is taking place in England, because the people in the background look like they are wearing the outfit that the guards at the castle in London wear. The reason I believe there is a parade behind them is because there are headlights indicating a lot of cars, as well as a crowd of people. There is also a group of deer crossing the road that is causing the parade to be delayed. In addition, the deer look like they have been photoshopped into the picture because they look out of place from the rest of the content in the picture.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
@Casey.AOSE! Thank you for joining the discussion…and thank you for using that GREAT word BECAUSE to explain and give evidence for your thinking. I want to clarify a couple of ideas in your comment. You speculate that a parade has been delayed because of a group of deer crossing the road. But at the same time, you question if deer were even present on the scene… or if they were added to the image digitally. What do you see that makes you say that the deer don’t seem to visually match the rest of the image?
Annie Y. (Walla Walla WA.)
It looks like it is in Canada and the soldiers are protecting the deer while they are crossing the roads. The deer are crossing to get to more food. The deer are migrating. There are many people on the other side to watch the deer move.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
@Annie Y. You have used kind of a juicy word, MIGRATING…animals moving or traveling from one region or habitat to another… to describe the movement of the deer. You are also speculating about the reason for that migration…to get more food. You are also considering what country this might be. What do you see that makes you say Canada?
McKenzie (SMS)
We are having a parade for all the boy scouts people. They have to wear a red top ad white pants. There is different type of cars trailing behind them like truck firetruck police. They had to stop to let the deer cross by the leaders of the group was a deer called Jeremy. They chose Jeremy cause he is responsible, he listens to his group members. Once they go by they will finish they parade then they will go home.
Victoria (Tadino)
There is a march on the road, but maybe the march did not go so well. Because there are some people on the ground and some deer are moving towards the other side of the forest. I think that this march is very important because there are many people and there are also many guards but it may be a parade, I'm not sure!
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
@Victoria, thanks for sharing your ideas this morning. You are finding an importance to this gathering because of the number of people. You are also speculating that the deer are moving across the image toward a forest. What do you see that makes you say there is a forest on the other side?

@Irish Tens 3b! So glad you liked the picture… I liked your comments! It looks to me like you worked as a group to make detailed observations AND provide some strong evidence for your thinking. You had some students offering some background knowledge about deer to understand what time of year we might be looking at. Your group also looked closely at the people in “uniform” and you are using color and style to make meaning. While you haven’t nailed anything down, this uniform reminds your group of the Commonwealth- the UK together with states and countries previously part of the British empire. Finally, you bring us to some details in the foreground that we haven’t thoroughly explored in our online discussion this morning… the quality and condition of the space in the foreground. The “manicured” lawns, flags, gates, etc, lead your group to believe that this is the entrance to a place of importance. Well done! You repeatedly used one of my favorite words… BECAUSE… when explaining your thinking.

Reading through the comments this morning, there is some language that has been used interchangeably when referring to our group in red in the middle ground of our image. @Emma has referred to the group as “band members”, “soldiers”, and “guard.” Others have used the words “band” and “honor guard.” Just a noticing as I look back and wonder… what do we see that makes us say these figures may or may not be part of a national military?

i see a stamped of deers walking a cross the street as a big family i also see a martching band in the back
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
Hi there, @cassie. Thanks for your joining the discussion this morning. You have used the word STAMPEDE, which, for me, sounds like something chaotic or panicked, or sudden. What do you see that makes you say these animals are stampeding?
Dylan (HTHS)
A parade is being held up because of a deer migration or the parade may have not started yet.
Zachary B (HTHS)
The image shows what looks to be a marching band with red uniforms, waiting for a huge group of deer to walk across the road. These deer look to be purposefully put there due to the surroudings and gow straight they are walking. If this is a simple deer crossing though, it is confusing that people from the band are allowed to sit down, especially with how patient they are trained to be. There is a city behind them, so this could be the end area for a parade. It is overall very unclear with how confusing this looks.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
@Zachary B, thank you for acknowledging how unclear and confusing this looks. There is definitely a puzzle to solve. What do you see that makes you say that the deer were “purposefully” put there? Or that there was some intention to the animals being in this space? Awesome job. Keep up the good work!
Jalen Brown (HTHS)
Deere's are crossing the road, blocking a marching band or a parade
hunter (hths)
1) theirs a herd of deer crossing the street and a marching band is waiting on them to cross and traffic is backed up
2) cause some of the people in the marching band are sitting down
3) it looks like the pic was taken in England or something
Aunesty (HTHS)
In this picture I see its like parade going on in the background and its a marching band. The deer crossing the road are holding up the march band it looks like. It weird they came out of nowhere and went to the particular place.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
@Aunesty, thanks for sharing your ideas. You used the word WEIRD when describing the scene. For you, the deer “came out of nowhere.” What do you see that makes you say that these animals are out of place?
Y.C.L (hths)
1.) What's going on in this picture? It looks like a parade but they stop because they can let the deer pass by.
2.) What do you see that makes you say that? There a lot of cars and people behind the man that dress in red like a uniform like a band. Maybe they play the music.
3.) What more can you find? Well it looks like a small town like the entrance to the town
Jerson (Denver, Co)
the deer were wilding
jack (no)
I wonder hew thews people are in the background with red jackets.they might be a parade going on in that city. And the deer might be going somewhere els.in the city.It looks cindev fancy ther because of the grass and the light post.they might be a big Coliney.
julieta (no)
looks like there is a lot of people on the other side and lots of deer running on the street. i think the deer ran away from those people.it looks like they were doing a parade but the deer ran away. i think that because theirs a lot of people on the other part of the street.plus it looks like a parade because the people on the street are in costumes that are for people who do music and i can see they have musical instruments.
Braxton Lutz (vancouver w.a)
it looks photo shopped but it looks real at the same time
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
Keep up the excellent work. As I read your comments, I keep going back to the image- seeing new things- and SMILING at the circumstances. One theme in our discussion this morning is place or location… Where in the world this scene may have happened. @Bowen, thanks for giving us a new strategy for looking. You have asked us to look at the design details on the street lamps. What more can we find when we look closely at the details to make meaning?
mariana (no)
It look like there is festival and in the middle of the festival deer were pasting ,and everyone stated back. i wonder where did the deer come for,or why are they there? it funny they came at that time.
Daniil (usa)
I think that its photoshop because it looks fake and the deer look like plastik
Lilly (vancover wa)
It looks like a lot of deer are crossing the road and they are blocking a parade or a marching band it might be photoshopped.
Irish Tens 3b (Burlington, Ontario, Canada)
We see deer in the foreground. One of our students says this picture is taken in the Spring because the deer have spots. When deer have spots it means they shed their skin to better adapt to changing colours of the environment. It makes their fur look all patchy. So, we think this is a clue to the time of the year the picture was taken.
In the background, we see a number of people wearing red, white and black uniforms. This kind of uniform reminds of us of the Queen's guards uniforms at Buckingham Palace, as well as the Royal Mounted Police (RCMP) in Canada and marching bands we are familiar with. So, although we do not think those in uniform are military, we believe they are important.
In the far distance, we see traffic. We think there is traffic because of the deer in the foreground.
We also see nicely manicured lawns, decorative lamp posts, flags and white (wall?gate?building?). We feel that the foreground leads to somewhere important and the traffic is at the entrance to that important place.
We really liked this picture!
Casey.AOSE (Academy of Saint Elizabeth)
It is interesting that you figured out the time of year based on the spots on the deer! I thought this was a parade but your idea that it is just a long road leading to somewhere important is valid as well.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
So many excellent strategies at work this morning. @Kylee Martin you have looked closely at the figures in the midground and, like others, identified the group as a “marching band.” You have ALSO provided us with a lot of descriptive adjectives about that group… laid back, patient, relaxed. For you, the group is not too bothered by the delay. What do you see that makes you say that the animals have interrupted the group in the middle of a performance?
jaylon (argetina)
its F photoshopped
maya (no)
that does not mean that it is real picture it does not have to be a real picture if it is photo shopped
david (houston)
The picture shows a marching band stopping and waiting for the deer family to pass and it looks like there is a parade going on and they are probably gonna wait a bit because theres lots of them.
jennifer (gp)
this picture seems like a christmas season the soldiers are getting ready for a festivaland the deers following santa
Jose Guerra (Galena park)
This picture seems to take place in Britain because you can tell by the way the soldiers are dress up and in this picture there's some deers walking across the stree.
noely (gp)
The deers are crossing the road and some people are about to start marching but now they are resting for a few minutes.
Hayden_CR7_Lomeli (WWW)
it looks like the British army or the Red Coats. It looks like this because of the designs on their uniforms. It also seems to be that they are in a parade of some sort, and there is either zoo deer or wild deer scurrying across the road.
kenya jackson (galena park)
i think that there was a parade in the distance an they saw a heard of dear walking/running across the field and cancelled the parade for that time being.
Emma (ww)
1. it looks like some guards or band members waiting and talking to each other.
2. it looks like more soldiers/band members
3. it looks like a bunch of deer crossing the road in front of the people
4. it looks like more deer crossing the road.
5. I think that this is a picture of a bunch of deer crossing the road in front of some people that could possibly be England guards or band members.
Bowen (walla walla)
1. it looks like there is a band on the road
2.it looks like it is in europe because the street lights look europian
3. it looks like there is deer going through town
4.it looks like the deer are blocking the band
Casey.AOSE (Academy of Saint Elizabeth)
It is interesting that you think this took place in europe based on the street lights.

There are a lot of great observations so far today! Before posting, consider what others have said and reply directly to their comments. And check back to see if someone has responded to your comments. This helps to deepen the discussion for everyone!
Brianna (www)
What seems to be happening in this picture is that a parade is being interrupted by a group of deer walking down a street. The reason why I believe this took place during a parade is because there are many people in the background as well as cars. The reason why I believe that there is a marching band in the middle ground is because there are instruments beside them. In the foreground there are many deer that seem to be walking out of the frame of the picture. They all look like fawns since they are shorter than a grown up deer.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
Great image and great discussion this morning! @Garcia, thank you for giving us some tools to talk about this picture. You have used the word foreground to talk about what is in the front and background to describe the space with cars. I will also add the words midground and the far distance to our discussion. You are finding some cause and effect here… that perhaps the traffic in the background is a result of “traffic” in the foreground. What do you see that makes you say that those cars are headed toward and want to drive on that street in the foreground?
Justin (Indiana)
1.This is a band marching on the road while the deer is crossing the road at the same time in a city behind them. 2. The deer and the marching band make me say that. 3. I can see buildings and cars in the background and a stop light in the back.
Dani (Kouts)
It looks like the Indonesian honor guard is being stopped by the deers crossing the road. These guards were probably waiting for the arrival of Saudi Arabia's King Salman that took place last March 1.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
Thanks for joining the discussion this morning. @Dani, some specific information- but, as always, with WGOITP- I am going to need some evidence from the image to support your ideas. What do you see in the picture that makes you say that the group is awaiting a visit from royalty… or a guest from another country?
Isaac A (Houston Tx.)
There a group of a band in a city. Wearing there red and white uniform waiting for their parade to start. While there waiting for it to start their watching the baby deers crossing the street in front of them.
Kylee Martin (KHS)
In this picture, a marching band has stopped marching to allow this herd of deer to cross the road. The band members in the background seem to be giving the deer space and are relaxing while the deer pass, in what seems to be at some point during a parade. I think the members of the marching band seem rather laid back about the situation and patiently waiting for the deer to cross.
Mia G. (Galena park)
In this picture there are deer's running it seems to be photoshopped im thinking because the legs don't look right. Everyone is the back might be doing some play of some sort.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
Hi there! @Mia G., you aren’t the first person this morning to speculate that there might be some manipulation to the photograph. You are wondering if the image might have been “photoshopped” because, to you, the “legs don’t look right.” What do you see, specifically, that makes you say the legs don’t look right?
Isac Armenta (Houston)
Its a pack of deer introducing them selves to the parade in England or maybe there was a parade and the soldiers were doing an intro and then the deer got into the way .
Unicorn (Rainbows)
In this image, it looks like a group of deer is crossing the road before or after a parade. It looks like this because they have red uniforms look like they could be in a school's band. The roads could be blocked off due to the parade from the group of cars in the background.
Blake (KHS)
It looks like there was a parade with a marching band leading the parade. They had to stop the parade because deer were crossing the road.
Ashley Woiblet (ww)
Box 1- This picture looks like it is taking place in a foreign country because of the marchers dressed up, that usually doesn't happen in the US.
Box 2- This looks like it takes place in a park of some sort.
Box 3- There is a herd of deer crossing a road or path in a park.
Box 4- There is more deer crossing the road.
Overall- Overall it looks like there is a group of marchers doing something and some deer crossing a path in a park. I think it takes place in a foreign country because the deer are not regular deer, they look like a different species.
Kaitlyn Hussung (IN)
It looks like the deer crashed a parade. In the back it looks like there's a band, and I see a lot of cars behind that, so it makes me think of a parade.
Sarah (KHS)
It looks like traffic or a parade was stopped so that the deer can cross the road.
Serena Birmingham (KHS)
In this picture, it looks like there was a parade going on and then a family of deer crashed it by walking across the street.
briana harper (indiana)
it looks like a photoshopped picture adding deer crossing the road while the men in the back were just standing there
Diego Jaques (ww)
this may be a parade and it has been interupted with a herd of deers running across the road
itz_ya_boi_michael (walla walla)
1. It looks like a place in London.
2. There is a lot of traffic.
3. There are some deer running across the street.
4. There are deer in a big pack.
5. It looks like deer are migrating or something to a different part of London.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
Hey there, @itz_ya_boi_michael…nice job on the user name. You know, others in the discussion have mentioned London as one possibility of place- or where this might be happening. What do you see that makes you say London? I am going to need some evidence.
joey (walla walla)
In this picture it seems there is a marching band held up by some deer crossing the road but the marching band must be pretty good cause the crowd of cars behind them or they are just holding up traffic
Anne (KHS)
The photo depicts a stream of deer crossing the road in front of a marching band. The road seems really backed up behind them so it seems like there was a parade. Then again, there is a random semi truck so maybe the parade was permanently halted because of the deer.
Allison Melendez (Valparaiso)
The picture is showing that traffic and everything was stopped so the animals could pass. This shows that people are putting an importance on the animals and stopping everything else so they can pass.
Anne (KHS)
I agree. I like that you noted the motive of the people as well as the cause.
Lizzy (KHS)
There is deer walking across the road.
Jorge Abundis (WW)
I think that in this picture a herd of deer was crossing the street in the middle of some kind of parade and the band is keeping their distance so that the deer won't get scared and scatter all around the town.
Lizzy (KHS)
In the picture, it looks like there was some type of parade and that a herd of deer crashed the party.
Schab (ww)
1. There is a band. 2. There is a city behind the band maybe America? 3. There is a herd of baby deer. 4. The deer are in the middle of a road. 5. A band in a city is blocked from going forward by deer crossing.
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
Thanks for joining the discussion, @Schab! You've listed several observations. What do you see that makes you wonder if the location is an American city?
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
@Schab, you have made a list of your observations- thank you for joining us this morning. I did a quick Google search to confirm the correct word for a group of deer. You nailed it… it is a herd. Others have mentioned the size of the animals in the foreground, and you have called them “baby” deer. What do you see that makes you say that is a group of baby animals?
Emma AOSE (Academy of Saint Elizabeth)
What seems to be happening in the picture is that a parade is being interrupted by a bunch of deer. I say this is during a parade because of the marching band and the hordes of people and police behind them. The deer seem to be blocking the parade from continuing. The people have likely been stopped for a while as many are sitting and there seems to be many deer walking out of the frame, so it must be a large group of deer.
VTS Moderator (Portland, OR)
@Emma AOSE, nice job with the speculation AND inference. You are not only thinking about what is going on outside the frame of our image, but also thinking about how long the humans have been on PAUSE, waiting. Keep up the good work. What more can we find?
Garcia (HI)
In the picture, it looks like there is traffic due to deer blocking the roads. And how there are many cars in the background and in the foreground there are many deer.
The B, game (VA)
It looks like a parade is about to start or has finished because of the people are sitting down and others are standing up. Also the deer are most likely passing by before they start or get scared by people because they get really intimidated and it's a big herd that is passing by across the road to get to the woods probably. Its probably in England where it is because of the light poles and how the feature of the picture looks.
Ava AOSE (AOSE)
In this picture, it looks like it is taking place in a small city with small streets on a holiday of some kind. It looks like there is a parade by looking at the people dressed in red uniforms that may be a part of a marching band. In the back, there are cars and trucks crowded together by tents, and the people in uniforms are still. This may be because the deer pictured in the front are crossing the street and holding up the parade. The people and cars do not seem to be surprised by the deer so this may be something common n the area
emily (<br/>)
there seems to be a group of either soldiers of a marching band standing in front of cars. They seem to be protecting the group of deer that is crossing the road. It seems like there was a parade that was going on before the deer came. Now everyone is kinda annoyed by the deer.
Anden (sms)
The deer must be heading south wear its warmer or something. It looks like there moving in a pack so that means they are moving done south for the winter. This picture was probably taken in a Europe town. There is a band watching the deer cross. When the band was playing loud it probably scared the deer.
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
Thanks for your comment, @Auden! You've visually unpacked several areas of the picture. You say that the picture was probably taken in a European town. What do you see that makes you say that?
Lilian (SMS)
I think that is picture was taken in london and was photoshopped and blurred the background.I also think that this could be real but they look fake.
k (sms)
So I think that they were having a parade or getting ready to and a herd of deer ran in a line across the road in a line as if they were in a separate parade but they look like they're excited and ready to go somewhere but it looks like there in a hurry and then behind the actual parade there are tons of cars and they look very inpatient and mad and ready to go wherever they are going right now. I think that they are cute too!
ZoeAOSE (AOSE)
In this picture there is a large flock of deer crossing a road. All the deer seem to be fawns based on the amount of white dots on their bodies and the size of the animals. Behind the deer, there is a group of people dressed in the same uniform. They all have white pants and red coats plus black hats with what looks like a white feather on the hat. This reminds me of a band uniform. Behind the uniform group there seems to be a crowd of spectators. They seem to be watching the deer. Perhaps there is some kind of festival celebrating the deer as they migrate to a new area. Or maybe the people are waiting for someone important to arrive, but the deer are blocking the entrance. This would explain why there is a band behind the deer that haven't begun to play. Looking closely at the band they do look a little surprised, so perhaps the deer coming to the road was unexpected, which would mean there was no deer festival. Since no one is moving towards the deer, the people seem to be patiently waiting for the deer to pass. Once the deer have passed, the important figure could come and the band could start playing.
Julia Jesshope (Canada)
This picture looks like it was taken possibly in England. my conclusion is that the dear are crossing the road because of a tradition or celebration. the people in the background are wearing red and white because they are in a marching band. the people in the cars are gathering all together to watch the parade. It looks like the uniformed men are blocking cars from passing the road, so they might be trying to protect the deer.
Emma AOSE (Academy of Saint Elizabeth)
I didn't think this would be a tradition or celebration, good idea!
Abi (Canada)
I think that this picture took place in England because when there are parades in England, men where white bottoms and red tops. I think that the deers are trying to go somewhere so they need to cross the road.
xaiver (sms)
They mite be going to a new feeding grand Also there is a marching band in the back standing still so that they can get ready to play the instruments and the deers have their spot so late mens they ant old.
Sky (McLean High school)
In this picture it looks like there is some formal welcoming happening in a private area. And coincidentally there was a group of deer crossing the road/driveway. The people in the background who are wearing the same type of uniform could be a marching band, because if you look at the ground by their feet, you can see some golden object that could be an instrument.
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
@Sky, you've made a new observation regarding the location. You say that the activity is taking place in a private area. What do you see that makes you say that?
JLS (SMS)
It seems today it is been a weird day today there is a deer problem in Londen deer are blocking traffic so no one can go throw the streets today. It look to me that they have to block the road untell the deer are off the road.
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
Several commenters, including @Aracely M. and @Ryan, think the picture might have been Photoshopped. @Appie P agrees, stating that since you don’t normally see deer in a city, perhaps they’ve been Photoshopped in.@Eve Adams also agrees, suggesting that a flaw exists on the left side of the picture, where the feet of the deer are not touching the ground. @Renata AOSE thinks that if the picture is Photoshopped, perhaps its been created to raise awareness for some cause. What more can you find?
Jose (Houston)
I see a parade going and there's a lot of people getting ready to run because there's a lot of people and there going to chase the animals.
Emma AOSE (Academy of Saint Elizabeth)
I didn't think the people would be preparing to chase the deer, interesting observation.
Chapa is Daddy (HTX)
In this picture it seems like there is a parade going. But there interupts a parade of deers, which seem to be crossing right in front of the parade of men. The men parade could be for a memorial service, or some sort of celebration. But the men seem to be waiting for the deer to pass so that they can continue their parade
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
@Chapa is Daddy, thanks for your comment! You've noticed a kind of duality, with a possible parade both in the background (men) and the foreground (deer) of this picture. What do you see that makes you say the figures in the background are waiting for the deer to pass?
Tera H (Barry, IL)
I think there is a marching band in the backround of this picture, I believe this because the people in the back are all in the same outfit and wearing those weird marching band hats. I honesty lay can tell what the animals in the front of the picture are, they kind of look like deers but the antlers on the one are not like the antlers on a deer. This picture looks fake because everything around the animals is blurry and they are perfectly clear so I feel this picture was cropped, therefore I can't tell where this picture was taken.
ZoeAOSE (AOSE)
I agree with your comment @Tera H. Your observations about the marching band are very observant and detailed. I also think they are a marching band based on their uniforms. Since there is a marching band, why do you think they are there? Normally marching bands play for special occasions like a festival or the arrival of an important figure. I can see why so say the picture is fake, but could the picture be out of focus which causes the background to appear blurry? Also, I believe all the animals are deer. The one that has the strange antlers could be starting to grow them and they haven't grown long enough to look like regular deer antlers.
Alexis B (Barry il)
In this picture of I look in the back it looks as if there is a band just standing in the middle of the road. It looks to me as a band, because they are all wearing the same outfit and they have those band hats on. Also I see a bunch of deer crossing over the street. I think maybe they had to stop the band, because of all of the deer. I am not sure where the picture was taken at, because the picture looks fake.
Ashley AOSE (AOSE)
This picture looks like it was taken in a European town, possibly in England because it looks rainy out. the picture is focused on a huge herd of deer crossing the street, which appears to be blocking some uniformed people from passing them. The people in uniform are wearing formal bright red clothes, so they may be marching in a parade of some sort. It looks like the uniformed men are blocking cars from passing the road, so they might be trying to protect the deer, or the deer may be coincidental. This picture is most likely of a parade or a march, and the deer are just a coincidence.
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
@Ashley AOSE, you're considering several possibilities, including whether the uniformed people in the background are there to protect the deer or whether they are there for another purpose, such as a parade or march, and the deer happened to be crossing at the same time. What do you see that makes you say it's more likely that a parade is happening and the presence of the deer is just a coincidence?
Cindy Flores (Hoiuston)
This picture shows deers crossing a the road. Then i see a lot of people behind them wearing a red suit like if they were in a band. The band ha to stop to let the animals cross.
Alex C (South Milwaukee)
I know that King Salman recently visited Indonesia, and whilst reading the article ( https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2986355/saudi-king-salman-indonesia-visit/ ) I found this exact same picture.
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
You've done some detective work, @Alex C! In looking at the picture alone, what do you see going on? What more can you find, beyond the information given in the article you read?
Justin A (Galena Park, TX)
This picture shows deer crossing a street at a parade. I can tell this is happening because its supposed to be a parade but the men in red suits stop the traffic so the herd of deer can make it across the street.
Chapa is Daddy (HTX)
In this picture it looks like there is a parade of deer. They seem to be interupting a parade of men. All the men in the parade seem to be confused of why the deer are passing in front of them. But it seems that they are patiently waiting for the deer to past buy so they can continue they're parade
figueroa (galena park)
i see in the picture a parade of people that are cross in the street but at the midldle of the street the are alots of deers that are maybe are loss and their need to get back home
Juan Rodriguez (Houston Tx)
There are some deer crossing the road while in the back there is a band taking a break while the deer cross.
Raul (houston)
A parade is waiting for all the deers to cross the road so that they can continue their parade some of them are tired of waitng
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
Thanks for your comment, @Raul! You mentioned that the people in the background are tired of waiting for the deer to cross the road. What do you see that makes you say they are tired of waiting?
julio garza (houston texas)
this picture shows deers crossing a road that was suppose to the street. The deer seem to be crossing this road in a park area.
Jesus G (Houston)
In this picture there are some deers crossing the street and in the back you can see some security or police that maybe that they are protecting the deers from cars, so the cars can run over them.
Pablo Leos (Galena Park ,Texas)
the people in red are an organization that are stopping the cars from passing to let the little deer's pass by or it could be a festival or tradition
Janine AOSE (AOSE)
In this picture, a lot of deer are crossing the road in front of a busy street and a marching band. Because of the attire of the band, I think that this picture takes place in England. This would also make sense considering the style of the lamps near the deer. The deer are crossing in front of where the marching band was supposed to pass through, so they have no choice but to put down their instruments and wait until the deer finish crossing. This is why some instruments such as what appears to be a tuba or some large brass instrument are on the street.
ZoeAOSE (AOSE)
I completely agree with your comment @Janine AOSE! You are very detailed, especially when you made the remark about the tuba and brass instruments on the ground. I see you believe this picture took place in England, and I see how you came to that conclusion based on the style of the lamps and the colors of the band's uniform. However, based on the colors of the flag in the background, I'm not sure if I agree. Also, you mentioned that there was a marching band, but why do you think they are there? Marching bands normally play for momentous occasions such as a festival, a parade, or an important person coming to town.
Ava AOSE (AOSE)
It is interesting what you said about it taking place in England, you may be right.
Elizabeth AOSE (AOSE)
In this photo, one could piece together some sort of story. First, lets go with what we see. I see a pack of deer crossing the road, but this pack of deers is rather large. Also, these deer look really tiny, so they must be on the young side. As one's eyes move to the background, one could notice how it gets fuzzy. Anyway, what I can see from the fuzzy part is a rather large group of men dresses in a red and white outfit with some sort of gold accented hat. I am a little confused why they are standing int the middle of the road because their looks like there is a bunch of traffic and cars a few feet away from them. So, standing in the middle of the road would not be good.

Anyway. onto my final thought, I believe that in this photo a large pack of deer are crossing the road because there are no cars there because of the large group of men standing in the middle of a street. The reason for them standing there is probably good, but it is not a smart idea. For example, the men might be marching because they look as if they are in uniform. And that is what I see.
Renata AOSE (AOSE)
This picture is taking place in some busy town or city. A type of deer seem to be crossing a busy street in front of a group of people,all-related in someway judging by the similar uniforms. The deer are holding up the people and cars, and the deer are taking a long time to cross judging by how some of the uniformed people have stopped to sit down and take a break. The uniformed people could also possibly be the police making sure the cars do not drive on the road so the deer are not run over. On the other hand, the picture could possibly be filtered with photoshop since the quality picture of the deer seems to be very clear and focused compared to the background. This picture could be part of some campaign to spread awareness for some cause.
Julie AOSE (Academy of St. Elizabeth's)
This picture shows deer crossing a road that was suppose to be the street for a parade. I can tell there is supposed to be a parade because the band is seen in the background of the photo, and it looks as though they are getting ready or waiting for the deer to cross. There seems to be a lot of traffic in the background, so that also implies that there is a parade, because the roads are blocked off. The deer seem to be crossing this road in a park area because of the lights and grass, but I do not know why the deer crossed the road.
Kayleigh B (AOSE)
This picture is taking place outside of a town or a city. There is a herd of deer crossing the road, and there is a parade behind them. The people in the parade are wearing matching red shirts with a white stripe and white pants. The people might be part of a marching band because there is a blur of something metallic gold behind the people, which might be their instruments. The people have stopped to let the herd of deer cross the road. The deer may be chital deer, which are located in India and through Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Since this type of deer is located in those parts of the world. This picture might've been taken in one of those countries.

Happy Monday morning, everyone! The discussion is off to a great start. Most agree that a group of deer are traveling across the scene, possibly interrupting a parade, memorial service, or traffic, as seen in the background. Several commenters have thought of possible reasons for deer being in the scene at all. @gerardo, @Trinity Smith, and @Brenna A. suggest the deer are migrating, while @Destini W proposed that the deer might actually be part of the parade. What more can you find?
Zack Gartenberg (Fort lee)
There is a U.N. march in england and there were deer crossing as they were setting up
Alejandro (Orlando FL)
It's showing a parade that's stopping now because the deer are crossing the streets, They're crossing the streets because they need to get back to their home.
Elizabeth AOSE (AOSE)
I do not believe it is a parade because wouldn't there be more people marching or wouldn't there be some sort of large group of people lining the streets, compared to cars? Just my ideas.
German Mar (Galena Park)
A herd of deer are crossing a street that a marching band was supposed to pass through.
Vanessa Lopez (houston)
Theres a marching band in the back while a bunch of baby deer are cossing the road.
Antonio Herera (Houston)
In this picture there is a herd of a deer crossing the streets where parks drive. Also there is a marching band in the back standing still so that they can get ready to play the instruments
gerardo (houston)
its the yearly deer crossing. its is taking place in england. i say its taking place is england because olf the soldiers in the back.
Renata AOSE (AOSE)
Interesting observations @gerardo but what if the men in the back are not soldiers at all? What makes you associate the soldiers with England? What makes you say that the deer crossing is an annual event?
Estrella Guerra (Houston)
in this picture i can see that probably there is a parade going on. There is a band going on deers walking through the street . At the backroom there is traffic with a lot of cars . i think they had stop to see the deers go on.
Michael M. (Houston)
in this picture there are deer crossing the road while there is traffic. And there is a marching band in the middle of the road. This looks to be in the UK or France.
EstherJoy (AOSE)
Why do you think that this is in the Uk or France?
Mr. Weeks' 7th Grade (Frederick, Maryland)
This is taking place in either Mexico, Poland, or England because of the flag colors. There was a marching band coming through but it stopped because of a deer crossing. There is a marching band in the middle of street so their might be a parade going on. There are cars behind the marching band. This can't be in the Mid Atlantic because these are not typical white-tailed deer.
Clara AOSE (The Academy of St. Elizabeth)
Nice idea about the flag colors! What else in this picture makes you think this may be in another country?
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
Welcome to the discussion, @Mr. Weeks' 7th Grade class! You have brought to our attention a new detail in the background: the possibility that flags are on display. You're also bringing in some prior knowledge in identifying the countries represented by those flags and suggesting that these are not deer native to your region. What more can you find?
Mr. Weeks' 7th Grade (Frederick, Maryland)
We also noticed that the buildings look a little different.
Brenna A. (hths)
In this picture there are a whole herd of deer crossing a street. In the background there seems to be a marching band that isn't performing but just standing there. It could be a parade that has stopped or not begun yet due to all of the deer crossing the road. Maybe the deer are migrating.
Ashley AOSE (AOSE)
Besides the uniforms, what makes you think that the men are a marching band?
jazmyne (rockypoint)
in this picture there are a lot of baby deer walking across a road where there seems to be some type of parade occurring. the camera is mainly focused on the deer and there is a marching band in the background along with a small city that seems to be very busy. there are very decorative lamps where the deer are and to me in the back it looks like the way into that road is being blocked off by a truck and some cars. maybe there is a parade going and to celebrate the deer that are crossing
Georgia (N.)
There is a herd of deer crossing the street. A guard of men in red suits is blocking the road so the deer wont get hurt. It looks to be in the city with all the cars and buildings in the back. It looks like a little city like Burgaw. Theres a lot of cars back up and trucks.
Aracely M. (Hths)
In the picture i see deers crossing the road while there is a parade going on there are a lot of people walking and in car for this parade. The parade has stopped because there is a pack of deers crossing the road and the people are let them pass by.Also it kinda does look photo shopped but it could just be me the marching band looks like they aren't holding any instruments.
Cheyenne (HTHS)
in this picture, there are a line of deer walking across the road. The crossing deer are in the way of a parade that must be going through the city. There are a bunch of people who look like they are wearing red marching band uniforms. There are a lot of cars and lights in the back of the picture, and they must be with the parade. And it sort of looks like there is a line of cars blocking the road off. Some of the people in the band are sitting down on the sides, and they all look like they've been there for awhile so the line of deer must be very long. This could be in a different country than the US, because of the flags that are hanging on the poles.
Clara AOSE (The Academy of St. Elizabeth)
Good idea about how long the deer crossed the road! What makes you think the parade is stopping for the deer?
Graceanna (AOSE)
Did not notice the flags, good point on the location!
Ava AOSE (AOSE)
Do you think that maybe this could be organized with different countries because of the different flag?
T T H (hths)
I see some kind of band in some city. Their wearing red and white and have black hats . I see a bunch of deer´s walking across the road stopping the band from moving because some are standing and sitting on the road and their not lined up like their post to . The background looks like a very busy road
Ameia (Unknown)
It looks like everyone is gathered around to watch the deer migration. It looks like they were having a parade when the baby deer's started coming out. I looks like they were having a road block to let the little Bambi's pass through
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
Thanks for joining the conversation, @Ameia! It sounds like you are being reminded of something you've seen before. What do you see in the picture that makes you say the deer look like "little Bambis"?
Janine AOSE (AOSE)
Is there a reason that you think the road was blocked for the deer and not for the parade?
Hayden (Heide Trask Highschool)
There is deer crossing the road in front of some type of parade. I see people lined up behind the deer and there is also lots of vehicles and lights. I can also see that the land space of this town is kind of hilly.
Trinity Smith (HTHS)
In this picture it looks like an early, foggy morning and I see cars, people with uniforms on, and a group of deers crossing the road. A parade might be taking place, because there is a band group that is standing together, cars that are blocking the road and the group of deers are migrating somewhere during this time.
Julie AOSE (Academy of St. Elizabeth's)
I would like to know what caused you to guess that this picture was taken in the morning.
vlad (HTHS)
In the photo there is a group of deer walking together and are walking across the road. In the background there seems to be a marching band waiting for the deers to cross. Further in the background, There are people and cars, probably following the marching band. In the area they are in, they might entering the park.
Ashley AOSE (AOSE)
I did not consider that the cars may be following the people...Good observation
Ryan (Rocky Point, NC.)
This photo looks photo shopped to me. But there are many deer crossing the street during what looks like a festival. There is a marching band in the background and many other people lining up for a parde.
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
Thanks for your comment, Ryan! What do you see in the picture that makes you say it is Photoshopped?
Mac Rich (North Carolina)
In this picture it looks like a herd of caribou running across the road in a town in what looks like a parade. In the front of the parade there is a marching band. I think this picture is from either Canada, USA, or Europe.
Janine AOSE (AOSE)
Why do you think the picture is from these places?
Bj (HTHS)
In this picture I see a bunch of deer crossing the street and behind them is a bunch a cars and people. It looks like some sort of parade or something.
Tamika J. (HTHS)
In this picture there is a herd of deer crossing the street in front of a lot of traffic. There is a marching band in the middle of the street so there might be a parade going on. The town is well kept with very green grass and pretty buildings.
Kayleigh B (AOSE)
Why do you think there is a parade going on? Could it be for a special celebration, holiday, or festival?
EstherJoy (AOSE)
In this picture, a marching band is practicing or performing and they are stopping to wait for deer to cross. I think that this is taking place in a city park because of the background. The deer seem to be baby deer because of the spots on their back.
Clara AOSE (The Academy of St. Elizabeth)
This picture looks like a parade stopping for a deer crossing. In the background, there is a visible marching band stopped with their instruments. There is also cars blocking off the rest of the area behind them. The deer are crossing with street with plenty of room between them and the marching band. The marching band seems to have stopped the parade so that the deer can cross. The deer look like they travel in a pack. Only one male deer is visible in the line of deer, which is interesting. Maybe the deer are following something.
Renata AOSE (AOSE)
@Clara AOSE I like your observation about how only one male deer is visible in the line and they could possibly be following something.
Graceanna (AOSE)
I did not think about the deer following something! Maybe because they appear to be babies (fawn) they are following adult deer.
Eve Adams (Trask)
In this picture it looks to me that a band or army is marching in the street. I think that this picture is also photoshopped, why would more than 20 deers be passing from one side of the road to the next, when there are a big group of people. The deer feet also don't touch where the sidewalk dents in leading me to again think the picture is photoshopped. They also don't seem bothered by the large number of people or look like they're in a hurry.
Graceanna (AOSE)
In this picture, there seems to be a parade happening in the background, but it appears to be at a standstill. There are a bunch of baby deer passing through, and cutting off the parade's route. The soldiers in the front of the parade are dressed in red uniforms, perhaps they are British soldiers. The parade most likely takes place in England, and the soldiers could be leading and protecting the people in the parade.
Tyler G. (HTHS)
People are stopped on a road waiting for a bunch of deer to finish crossing the road. It looks like The people that have stopped are in a marching band. I can see lots of traffic from behind the band.
Destini W (HTHS)
It seems as though there is a parade of some kind going on. There is a group of deer going across the road, wiether they are part of the parade, we dont know. There seems to be a marching band and a group of cars backed up in the backround of the picture.
Appie P (HTHS)
It looks like a marching band marching down a street. It looks like someone photoshopped a flock of deer into the picture. The background is the city and you don't normally find deer in the city.
EstherJoy (AOSE)
Why do you think the deer are photo shopped into the photo?
Walker (HTHS)
1. There seems to be some sort of parade and deer are crossing the street in the middle of it.
2. There is a line of deer crossing the street and there are parade marchers with instruments in the background.
3.The people seemed to be stopped and looking at the deer.
Mr. Jackson's Class (Burlington)
Who: We see a group of deer, or animals that look like deer crossing the road. We also see a marching band in the background as well as a crowd farther in the background.

What: Based on the uniforms and the large group of people present, there could be some sort of memorial, or service present. But there is a large gathering that would bring out a crowd.

Where: Based on the grass and the climate, it could be a European country of a North American city or town. It could even potentially be London England near Buckingham palace, as the lampposts and the gates look very similar to that of the palace.

When: Definitely not happening in the winter; could be the fall, most likely the spring or the summer based on the volume of deer and the grass.

Why / How: Some sort of celebration or gathering, the deer have caused the marchers and band members to stop marching it seems.
VTS Moderator (Brooklyn, NY)
Welcome to the discussion, @Mr. Jackson's Class! You're drawing our attention not only to the possible activity going on, but also to the setting--time of year, geographical location, etc. You mention there is a marching band in the background. What do you see specifically that makes you say it is a marching band?
J. L. (HTHS)
In the picture there is a large group of deers crossing the road while a marching band is watching the deers cross the road. I say this because in the background the marching band is just watching them. I can also see that there are a lot of people and cars so my guess is that this was probably a parade that got stopped because of the deers crossing the road.
Rigo Garcia (Heide Trask)
In this picture it looks like deer are crossing the road for some sort of ceremony. I see some soldiers in the background with also a ton of people and cars. It could be a parade or something similar like that
Clayton S. (HTHS)
This is a controlled Axis deer crossing, probably located in Texas. I say there Axis deer because of the white spotted pattern along the back and the shape of the horns. And I say this is in Texas because these animals were introduced to Texas in the 30's so it would make sense that they would want to protect them. I can also see a group of people dressed in red and white, along with small buildings and a traffic jam in the streets, caused by this crossing.
Kayleigh B (AOSE)
What gives you the indication that this picture takes place in Texas?
Tucker Sparkman (unknown)
What I think is going on in this picture is this takes place in England because of the Red Coats in the back ground. I think they're at the Queen's house and the deer are just crossing the road.
C.Laws (school)
I see a little herd of younger deer crossing and roadway, in the background theirs a marching band and some tents giving me the idea that they are in front of a festival or celebration.Or possibly just a lot of traffic.
Ashley (Rocky Point)
1. It looks like a parade is being stopped, because there's deer crossing the road, but it almost looks like its been photo shot.
2. I see a pack of deer, crossing a road, with a marching band in the background.
3. The grass is super green, and there are fancy light poles, along side the cement.
