Saw this way back in 2012 at the Globe Theatre in London. Loved it then and now I know why it did not get posted online along with all the other 37 "Globe to Globe" shows. Hip-hop in iambic pentameter, genius! I think I may make the trip into the city for this,

An amazing journey conducted with witt and precision that is the hallmark of Q Bros. genius. Pringle and Doran exude tallent and time. You will leave tapping your feet and giggling on to the bar for a night cap and recounting the plethora of uniquely hilarous scences. Non stop entertainment for 90mins.

Can they not call this play 'Othello?' It may be based on the play, but staging it as a hip-hop play is doing a disservice to Shakespeare and quite possibly lead to the destruction of the theatre all together.

...considering how much Shakespeare swiped from other sources I think he'd be tickled. And thank you for the belly laugh.

The title is OTHELLO: THE REMIX.

Didn't know of the Q Brothers until after seeing this. Needed a diversion from all current topics being about politics. From the writing, beats, bib costumes, street attire, vernacular, 4 actors, multiple characters - could not have found a better way to spend 80 minutes! It did not disappoint! Loved it! That it stayed true to story was such a plus. Just a great production all around!!

Yes, these guys are awesome. I see pretty much every show I can in Chicago. They performed Othello at the Cook County Jail and it was a huge hit, making Shakespeare relevant to a new audience. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/other/hip-hop-othello-resonates-behind-bars-...

I also saw this in Chicago - and the room went very quiet when Othello goes to smother Desdemona. It was very moving. And there were tears around us - to be supplanted by laughter later.

Having seen this play at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater along with their last two productions of "Othello" shows the timeless universal genius of Shakespeare. See also the film "0".

I couldn't get enough of the Q Brothers at Chicago Shakespeare Theater -- they killed it with Remix. And what holiday season would be complete without their version of Dickens' Christmas Carol, which I've seen for the past two years. NYC is lucky that Chicago is sharing this incredibly talented and razor smart crew.

Knowing the Q brothers personally, I'm a little biased. But when I saw this show in Chicago a number of families with teen age children were in the audience. I could practically hear their eyes rolling as they went to something the parents thought "the kids would like." At the end of the show, there was silence and palpable emotion as Othello reaches his sad reckoning. And a standing audience at the end. Yes, it's goofy. But it's also moving.
