The Speech That Made Obama

On my office door at school, I have a copy of the college newspaper with a large photo of then President-elect Obama. The caption reads..."Now is our time." I will continue to display it long after Obama has returned to being a private citizen. I've lived through nine presidents, and President Obama has always maintained his integrity, and grace even when being belittled, yelled at, called racist words, and worse. IMHO, he will go down in history as a great president.

America has recently been blessed with two great orators. President Bill Clinton is still The Big Dog, although he has lost a little heat from his fastball (we're the same age so I can say that). President Barack Obama can soar to tremendous rhetorical heights, with some occasional gospel cadences, and still bring his message to the people. Both are relentlessly optimistic about what we can be when striving together.

The fact that they are both Democrats is not a coincidence. Dems have many positive messages to convey, while the other party can only say "Nay." In my lifetime I cannot recall any Republican who is in their class at expressing a content-full message so well.

"Obama will stand on the convention podium tonight in the midst of a fractured, tense and violent time in America."

If you think there was a time in US history with none of the above (FTV) you confuse America with Neverland.

Emphasizing FTV is the same yellow journalism that spawned Trump; it's his message.

And yellow journalism is responsible for turning his incredibility into credibility among the credulous. Of which there seems to be a great many--the fault of more yellow journalism--Fox "News" in particular.

But it's also the fault of the degradation of US public education--sponsored by Trump and all those who "love the uneducated" --the miseducated, god story dogmatists and other fools.

Obama's core message is that the US and civilization itself depend on transcending FTV.

Trump's message is more FTV--it's good for his family and bank account.

One of the finest speeches--in style and content--in many years. By a man known for his great speeches.

C'mon Americans, reject all the negative policies and talk and lies from the Republican'ts and their ilk and the corporations in 2016 all across this nation. Stop their scare tactics. Stop their obstructionism! NO more in 2016 and beyond!

Just another reason to vote ONLY Democrat 2016 and shove the Republican'ts and the corporations and their ilk so far down that they will never recover and end up in the trash heap of history where they belong.

C'mon Americans, let's all join the civilized world and the 21st century in 2016 rather than go backward toward the first century where the Republican'ts and the corporations and their ilk wish to take us!

I'd like that green owl with blue wings the President mentioned last night to be the symbol for gun law reform. Can you make that happen?

Nothing gives me more HOPE than hearing our President's voice. I believe.

Rather negative and cynical. He's been a fantastic President

The best President of the United States during my lifetime. Not even a close question.

Yes, the best President of The United States of America in my near 8 decades of life.

God knows it will be down hill from here for the foreseeable.
