Don't be fooled! -- Biscuits are NOT easy to make!!!

Promoting cooking and consumption of veal in the New York Times online, is a disgrace. The cruelty that is THE major element in the raising and killing of baby cows--young cows (all cows) has been well known, Rachel Carson wrote an in-depth article many years ago in the New Yorker about this subject. That stopped my consumption of veal immediately. Today's animal rights advocates still include this atrocity in their publications.

I fully realize the other side of this equation--farmers, butchers, restaurants,etc.--where income depends on the consumption of veal. But we have to stop somewhere as we ponder what is right and what is wrong-cruel. It's not just a Disney-like reaction that hundreds of thousands of us feel. It is our humanity that is offended when we industrialize animal cruelty.

I am only centering on this part of your online NYT writing, as my conscience demands I speak out, if even not fully on behalf of all animals.

Twice I've left new items (with tags) on the Hudson Line and twice they've been returned which speaks highly of the riders. I think the Lost Property department at GCS is an amazingly well-organized and efficient system. They label items by date, by line and by where they were found. I'm also impressed with amount of items they inventory.

Same for LIRR. Retrieved lost items many times over the years on the LIRR --cameras, a monitor, car keys. Can't say much for the service as a commuter but at least the lost and found department LIRR is working well.

You can never have enough first-rate chefs.
My niece is a pastry chef; she passed her baking exam with flying crullers.
NYCSandi (NYC)
As is my daughter. But you know New York bakers: their remarks can be sharp, but they have a tender crumb under that crusty exterior...
Tootsie (Brooklyn)
I love Anthony Bourdain, but he is not a "renowned chef." He is renowned as a writer and TV personality. He was a chef, but was not famous until he wrote Kitchen Confidential.

You can keep him Tootsie, I have had enough of him.
He's just milking it now

“Up for grabs: 3,500 umbrellas, 250 valises, fifty cameras, eight radios and a number of musical instruments.”

Tune of “Bus Stop (Please Share My Umbrella)”

Bus stop, one day, inside, I say:
She’s got my umbrella
It’s one I’d lost, for a small cost -
She bought my umbrella

It was found, they said they’d hold it, I thought that was fine
That umbrella, now they’ve sold it; I tell you, it was mine

Rainy mornings, I would see her holding it so high
Sometimes she'd proudly tell the people what she bought
I’d just stare and stare but though I wanted to explain
I knew if I told her she’d think I’m insane

One day, raindrops, I’m wet, she stops:
“Come share my umbrella”
Now through bad weather, we’re together
Now it’s our umbrella
We share our umbrella
Linda (Glen Head)
Resurrecting the Hollies, with Graham Nash...excellent!
