Another Emmy-winning performance by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Wonderful episode, I laughed out loud! Also, your recap put me in mind of the terrific Mary Tyler Moore episode, "Chuckles the clown bites the dust", where he dresses as a peanut and is then killed by a rogue elephant during a parade. I know, but it is really funny! The reverse situation occurs when Mary tries to give a eulogy and ends up laughing uncontrollably.

My husband continually asks why we keep paying for premium cable. My answer is always: Veep and Silicon Valley.

What a fantastic episode! I had to watch it several times to appreciate the amazing writing and full set of emotions that played out on this episode. I was very disappointed when Armando Iannucci left the show, as the first 3 episodes had a different "flavor", but this episode made up for slow start of the season.
What en evil, self-centered and Machiavellic person Selina is! Yet, you can't help but root for her.
I have been reading the comments about this episode, and I am sad to see that as a society everything and anything offends people. Yet, these are the same people who are the most offensive and nastiest on the comments. I would like to go back to a time where opinions didn't matter as much, where Yelp didn't exist and where not everybody needed to be heard.(including me) Can we find a middle ground? All these entitled people with their opinions actually diminish and take away from the people who really need a voice and don't have one.

The best episode so far....I love the show but it scares me. It's too close to the truth about Washington and politics!

Perfect Veep funeral: Selina's ex's 5 second wooing as he explains the new girlfriend is just a rebound thing, then rushing back over to his daughter as soon as he hears she will inherit everything. Fantastic writing here. And an over-the-top ensemble cast.

This show goes where no other one dares to. Brilliant writing. I am going watch this episode again, since I know I probably missed some lines at the late hour its aired.

What a disgusting, repulsive and hilarious episode.

Amy's references to Eleanor Roosevelt, based on historical speculation only, were an unfortunate low point of this excessively mean-spirited episode. I am aware that 'Veep' is a satire of the viciousness of the political world, but the satirist should take a break when it comes to personal gossip about political personalities who can't speak for themselves any more, especially someone who had the nebulous role of the First Lady.

Why are you watching the show? That joke about Eleanor has been around for 70 years. If you can't handle satire and genuine humor just turn the show off.
Great show and episode!
Mary Ann Hanna (Media Pa)
And of course Martin Mull's clueless congratulations in the receiving line was the perfect period on the fabulously twisty show. Selina's heartbreak on the altar was so palpable, it should propel her up the polls and allow her to squeak by the House vote. After all, what is Veep without her in the White House?

Laugh out loud episode. Mr Hale is the star in our house, but we were overwhelmed to see the great Brian Doyle Murray in the role of Selina's family lawyer. We need to see more of Mr Murray....Everywhere!!

I think Gary helped Selina up off a kneeler in the pew, not the floor -
John D (San Diego)
Outstanding series, possibly the best episode yet.

(And I'll never be able to think of Eleanor Roosevelt again without cracking up.)
Robert (Cambridge, MA)
I love how Gary even has to whisper in Selina's ear how to pray ...

Selina's "problematic" relationship with her mother has been touched upon in previous episodes so her reactions don't seem shocking to me-ego-driven yes, but very human. Now Catherine will be financially autonomous-how will her difficult relationship with Selina change?
Rachel Anderson (Atlanta, GA)
I'm excited to see how the dynamic changes now that Catherine inherits the bulk of her Grand Mother's estate.

"it feels like Julia Louis-Dreyfus has locked up another acting Emmy"--once you win an Emmy, just like once you win a seat in Congress, winning again is almost certain. She is a fine actress, but the Emmys have long been notorious for just rounding up the usual suspects, male and female, as nominees, locking in some very good performers--Louis-Dreyfus, Edie Falco, Julianna Margulies, Claire Danes--while locking out others--Laurie Metcalf, Keri Russell--with little regard for who actually was the best in any particular year.
Elijah Taylo (New York)
I agree, although JLD really has been the best in her category every year she's won. She's gonna go down in history as one of the greatest comic actresses on TV ever, if not the best. I agree that Keri Russell deserves a nomination and win, lets hope this is her year with her best performances on The Americans yet.
