Well, the good thing about Bernie keeping this race close is that it keeps the terrorists from attacking for another couple of weeks.

A Gembicki from Chicago is right. There is a paucity of comments here. There are a lot of debates on both sides, and they don't converge anywhere. I think that we know what the candidates' capabilities are, and more bickering either way accomplishes nothing. I was watching how to make grilled scallops and bacon on "Test Kitchen". It's very good. And their was no bickering.

The very big issue in this election cycle is that both Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders have garnered a lot of support, a fact which has shown the parties to be off guard. Both parties are trying to find someone who represents their party and can get an unequivocal majority of the voters in that party. It's not happening.

So the real issue with the parties is, how will the undecided vote turn out? In the past, there were Democrats and Republicans that voted their way, and the undecided voter went either way. Today we have split camps in each of the parties, making it difficult to determine how an undecided voter will vote.

But if anything is certain, it is that there is disgruntlement from both sides with the way government has been run. The undecided voter feels this too, so whomever gets nominated can't have an exclusively mainstream platform. He or she will have to bring the undecided voter in, otherwise folks could turn to the other side.

Back to Hillary and Bernie, it is known that Hillary has a trust problem. If the undecided voter is sensitive to this, he or she might vote Republican.

Only 11 comments on the debate? I thought there would be more or maybe I'm one of the few who find the debates "informative," for how HRC's rhetoric has "evolved" if for no other reason. Interesting to see how much of the Clinton & Obama agenda she claims - or doesn't. Didn't know that a First Lady and Secretary of State could initiate legislation. Oops, forgot "HillaryCare" which was an unmitigated disaster and which she should really drop from her list of "accomplishments."
Going forward, HRC should really answer questions with a "yes" or a "no" and forgo her current style of circular arguments until the main point is lost...or forgotten. It makes her parsing sound like prevarication or worse.
However, according to the pundits & savants, HRC is as inevitable as spring allergies or the fall flu season.
But I eagerly await the Goldman Sachs transcripts if for no other reason to see what $675,000 buys.

Want more comments on the Debate?? -- try looking at the NYT POLITICS and OPINION sections.

And I eagerly await Sanders' tax returns....

He's embarrassed to admit to his supporters how much money he rakes in as a Washington Insider.

Kasich probably is right in getting out of the city after talking about the blood of Christ at a matzah bakery.

All I know is that I went in there for some Matzoh Shmurah and some guy started a discussion on theological hematology.

Clinton will win New York for the same reason Trump will: People know about her; like Trump's, her name and face have been popping up in the popular culture for 25 years. In fact, she has nothing more to offer than what he has: a pile of political debt, a lot of platitudes, and an insatiable desire for power. She has been running for president for longer than some voters have been alive, I'm sick of everything about her, and the New York Times really should publish this comment because an awful lot of the people I talk to feel the same way but the sentiment rarely gets published here. Hilary, go away; don't ruin it for other women; let a superior female candidate run, unburdened by Arkansas scandals, White House dramas, Benghazi, hundred-thousand dollar speeches, secret emails, and God knows what else that the rest of us don't know.

The Bernie Sanders commercials on WCBS and 1010WINS are ruining my breakfast. As if other factors besides "big banks" didn't figure into the recession.

My paltry savings are in big banks. I would like to get some interest to live on, true, but that's tied to the Feds.
Dennis (New York)
Yes, My wife and I have our life savings in those big bad Manhattan banks also. Let's dismantle them and give them to these young revolutionaries who want us to pay for the college educations in the fine arts and obscure job-deprived occupations.

Then when they complain they can't get a job in their field we'll support them some more at home. When they don't have insurance because Sanders dismantled Obamacare to get universal single payer and it was rejected by a Republican majority we won't have either.

Where then will the money come from to support the lifestyle our spoiled young generation? I have an idea. Let's re-institute the Draft. The kids can be revolutionaries overseas in dangerous areas of the world. Perhaps when they get home to the good old U.S.of A. they'll have enough of revolution and decide to settle down and become productive members of society.

At least we're finally getting some recognition. I can't remember the last time a presidential candidate ran ads in NYC in either the primary or general election. I always felt kind of envious of those folks down in Florida who were bombarded with them

I was glad to leave that high-school dance before desks and chairs were thrown.
'Feisty' is putting it very mildly. I'm surprised Wolf Blitzer stayed until the band packed up--but he probably couldn't wait to get out either...Most of the talking points we've already heard before...transcripts...emails...Wall Street...tax returns. So if you nodded off, you're forgiven. Just remember to wake up and Vote on April 19th. Class dismissed.

I feel that some tend to attack Hillary because they just happen to fear her. I feel that some of those who attack her are more afraid of her than she is of them. In all honesty, I just find Sanders someone who there for the hype while Hillary is someone who is more realistic and long term. Nevertheless, she will win my vote on Tuesday when the primaries are coming.

I am really sick of Sander's impuning Hillary's reputation. Sanders, please name one piece of legislation that was driven by one of her speeches to Corporate America.
Lennerd (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam)
married4eva: your chronology is messed up. She didn't take any $100,000 speaking fees until after her tenure in the US Senate -- I think.

She's neo-con lite. And that's "off" enough for me.
married4eva (Troy, NY)
So, again, Sanders is impuning her, Lennerd, as how could these fees impact her legislative decisions when she was not in office at the time?
Freddie (New York, NY)
Bitter yes, but leading, of course, to the eventual unity, if possible?

tune of “I’ve Got Love On My Mind”/“Right Back to Where We Started From” 1970’s medley

[Hil & Bern] I’ve got numbers on my mind
From sunrise to sunset, all day and night
[Hil] I’ve been waiting for your return
But that seems to be out of reach
[Bern] Me, I wanna know how you earn
All that cash from one little speech
[Both] You make me so very scrappy

- [Head of DNC breaks in:}
Ooo yes it’s all right, nothing’s going wrong
We’ll get the Left right back to where it started from
Fighting’s good, when it makes you strong
We’ll get the Left right back to where we started from

(Mmm, hmm)
Can you remember that time (that recent time)
Our hopes had seemed to climb
It feels not long ago to me
Now are we drawing blood (ooh, drawing blood)
And getting in the mud
Just like the fighting G.O.P.

Tell me it’s all right, nothing’s going wrong
We’ll get the Left right back to where we started from
Fighting’s good, it makes you strong
We’ll get the Left right back to where we started from
(repeat)

So many presidential debates? Not so long ago you might have a total of three.

Today, life is a television program. Like the tree falling in the forest, if folks cannot view and event, has IT occurred? Gotcha moments, with the interviewers trying to turn the debate into an op for themselves. Many unlikable self-possessed candidates. No wonder so few eligible voters take part in the process.
