No player since Jordan--not even Kobe--has created the excitement and fan interest Curry has, It is his combination of amazing shots; inspired passes and the sheer joy he and his teammates express in playing fast, unselfish, creative basketball.

His constant smile, graciousness and baby face help, too

Apologies for first post...Meant Steph Curry has been getting some criticisms of his game not Cristian's ...missed that auto spell correction!

A commenter has referred to 3 point skill as something an idiot savant could master. First of all, the french term refers to cognitive expertise, second, it is a term applied to individuals that are cognitively disabled in some way or another. You know as much about basketball as you are literate.

Steph Curry has been getting some Cristian's of his game by former NBA players from other eras. Most notably from Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson. Dennis Rodman chimed in as well. That he wouldn't have been able to score so much in the eras when defense was tougher and hand checking allowed. Why isn't anybody bringing up Pete Maravich's game in this discussion about cross era players? I believe Steph Curry's game best echoes Mararvich's. And didn't Pistol Pete thrive in the hand checking defense oriented era of Oscar Robertson's? I believe Maravich averaged 24 ppg throughout his career. And that was with many injury plagued seasons and NO 3 point line. So for all of you who are not familiar with Pistol Pete check out his videos online and you will see that Steph Curry would thrive in any era. I'm sure once Mr. Robertson's & Mr. Rodman's memories are jarred they would change their mind about Curry!

I'm wondering what effect Curry's 3-point play has on his teammates 3-pointer attempts. Just watching a rerun of a recent game agains the Cavaliers and it seems 3-pointers are in vogue with the Warriors.

Curry shows the beauty of basketball. Just when you think you've watched the most amazing player in the world - Elgin Baylor - here comes Julius Erving. Then you think that it couldn't possibly get any more amazing and here comes Michael Jordan. Michael bows out and it looks like Lebron will get all the attention. And then Curry shows yet other dimensions in the world of unbelievably skilled players. Basketball always seems to produce joyful surprises.

Stephen Curry must also spend a lot of time practicing his remarkable shots in the paint. His ability to bank shots off the highest part of the backboard is in my opinion not just a method to shoot over much bigger men, but also pure entertainment. The degree of difficulty while kissing off the top of the glass elicits the "wows", which brings us back for more.

He is very special . Let's enjoy watching his magic while we have him. We will miss him when he is gone.

This article rings so true: Curry's redefining the game through experimentation, challenges with boredom and its links to necessary repetition, and Curry's pure joy and creativity.

He is a revolutionary player. Watch the dynasty unfold!

Thank you for this well crafted article Steph is a joy to watch. Guarding against bordom in any craft is something to master and overcome.

Stephen Curry is an amazing basketball player .... and a joy to watch. It's stunning to see the shots he makes, seemingly effortlessly. He brought his darling toddler daughter to a news conference a while back and she stole the show!... so cute. Looks as if Stephen Curry is a very good Dad, also.

How lucky can one get in a lifetime! Seeing Kareem Abdul Jabbar with his sky hook, Michael Jordan and the Bulls and now Steph, divine Steph and the Warriors. Life is good when you can see such beauty and grace!

So much fun to watch. Never seen basketball played with such movement and flare.
Let's not compare to any other time in basketball history because the rules of the game, and the players themselves have changed. Just enjoy the ride.
Go Warriors!

The three point shot can easily be mastered by an idiot savant. It's a relatively simple skill mastered by repetition. Scoring on a drive over a 6'8" defender requires athletic skill. I liked basketball better when it was about athletic skill. Watching idiot savants is boring. Get rid of the three!

michjas: Such an insulting, negative comment. The way Stephen Curry plays basketball is very much about athletic ability, talent and hard work. Boring?...No, he is exciting to watch. Very few, if any, players in my memory have been able to consistently make three point shots from all over the court with such flair. He has added a great deal of excitement to the game of basketball.

Clearly your knowledge of Steph's game is from 15 second highlights. Steph shoots in the restricted area (including the paint) about 33% of the time (hitting 62% of those shots which would put him 5th in the league, including all players big and small and Steph rarely dunks), other 2's 12% and 3's 55% of the time. Overall he hits 51% of his shots. All this takes tremendous skill and basketball IQ and most important a huge amount of hard work. If this was so simple then why is no one else even close to these numbers. Success breads haters but at least know what your talking about next time.

How ridiculous ^

The only other athlete of the modern era that Steph Curry brings to mind is Wayne Gretzky of the 1980s Edmonton Oilers. Both men had to conjure up a game to compensate for their modest physical stature within it. Both vastly exceeded expectations by becoming highly unpredictable , Outrageously creative and wildly prolific in generating offensive ststistics. Understanding not only how plays are currently evolving but where they will going next before anyone else is the rare and highly intuitive skill both of these men possess. It makes for a wonderful and endlessly entertaining viewing and only comes along every generation or so. Like comets flashing through a night sky, they are gone before you know it leaving behind a lifetime of precious memories.
