France and Iran had improved their relations in recent years, which went sour under Nicolas Sarzkozy and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, even before 2010, when Iran's state-run daily paper Kayhan called Carla Bruni-Sarkozy a 'prostitute. France's first lady had in an open letter, written by French celebrities, condemned the stoning sentence against Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani for adultery.
Now under François Hollande and Hassan Rouhani, the two countries seek to forge closer ties. The two men need diplomatic boon for domestic consumption.

THIS is so Wonderful to see that Iran's first purchases are "Civilian" Aircraft, Manufacturing, Medical, Automotive, Agriculture and Infrastructure Technology and Know-How.

Iran is in much better shape than East Germany, Poland and Czechoslovakia when they joined the Global Economy and with Massive Resources and a Highly Educated population, it has the potential become a G-10 country in a Decade or so.

THE Airbus Deal alone will benefit the US some $3-4 Billion and hope Boeing will be knocking on their door soon as they plan to build an Airline Industry with over 600 Modern Aircrafts (IT seems Iran is willing buy the same number of Aircrafts from Boeing).

THIS is a smart move as Tourism will be a key industry in Iran as they plan to host some 25 Million tourists a year (Iranians cherish their 10,000 year Heritage as in one small province alone, Kermanshah, there are over 4,000 Ancient sites, more than the entire Egypt).

AND Tehran is the Natural Hub for East-West Air Travel as it would save 1.5 hours of flight time for connecting flights on each leg of the Transit and with a Mega City of 15 Million has a lot to offer than Dubai, Doha et al.

WELL Done!

Iran should drop its anti-Israeli position. It has served absolutely no strategic purpose to them, ostracizing the west and not winning any friends in the sunni world.

If Iran became friendly to Israel, its problems with the west would disappear overnight. Besides, if Iran and Israel became friendly, together with Europe, hopefully the two could put pressure on Israel to reach a more fair settlement with the Palestinians.

Certainly there would be less incentive for Hamas and the Palestinians to support their own anti-Israeli rhetoric and tactics, and Israel would feel more encouraged to "risk peace".

As for finding a just settlement between Israel and the Palestinians with US mediation - no chance. They are way too biased and should be excluded from the process.

So I do believe that it is very much in the interest of Iran to turn a new page on Israel, become friendly with them, and hopefully they will do help bring about more justice for everyone.

Again, Americans, do your research. We have little to fear from Iranians and much to fear from the Saudis. Enough of the toxic Kool-Aid. They are are a young, secular society that is desperate to join the world. Why hasn't Tom Cotton, who took 1 million dollars to oppose the deal from Netanyahu and company, been indicted for treason?

This is the same Iran that chants "Death to America".
Think about it.

American people, to a large extend, unfortunately, are miss informed about Iran. If you Americans find out how much majority of Iranian people love to re-establish relationship with America, you'll be surprised. Don't buy into media, telling you Iran is making nuclear bomb to destroy Israel or attach US. Iran is on the way to democracy; change takes time, it won't happen over the night. Peace from Iran
Luomaike (New Jersey)
Most if not all of the Republican presidential candidates have bragged that they would strike down the nuclear deal with Iran on their first day in office. As we can see, the rest of the world is rushing in to do business with Iran ASAP, which means that if the US did unilaterally strike down the agreement, there would be zero global support to go back to sanctions. So the only recourse to inhibit Iran from pursuing The Bomb at that point would be to declare war at the same time we cancelled the deal. Gee, I wonder if Fox will pursue that line of questioning in tonight’s “debate?”

Could it b that in fact Iran can prove haters wrong and in fact prove to be a peaceful country who can put a stop to ISIS or like.

The ball is in their court to raise above distance

And so the French and Italians hold their noses and sell their souls for 40 pieces of gold.

Would that all their contracts be governed by punishment under Sharia law, none would have a hand left to sign the compact renewals.

But perhaps as Mario Puzzo famously wrote, "Friends close, and enemies closer."

To quote a line from the musical Evita.... "As the money keeps rolling in we don't keep books".

I'm sure that the anti-western and anti-American folks are smiling. Iran gets their victory lap and of course capitalist are ready to jump in bed with them because of course capital doesn't care about ethics and has not loyalty to the country. Iran is a hard-line Islamist state that hates the USA and is responsible for world wide terror attacks, from south america to NYC. The current leadership uses the USA as the boogeyman to pit itself against, knowing full well the Iranians have national pride and will rally to their flag, unlike many in the USA, over being critical of their own kind. But, to me and others who love the USA and Western Culture, this is a sad day...we are weak and that is just what many in the USA want. God help us!

Right wing fanatics everywhere have had to cede ground, including netenyahu. And that is very good for peace and the overall reduction of human suffering in the world. Congratulations to Obama and Kerry on the great success of their very difficult work in the face of enormous opposition from the right wing Israeli pandering GOP congress.

This accomplishment will bear out as one of Obama's greatest.

We have screwed over so many countries through the years for oil, who really is the enemy? I'd love to travel again but where to? Anyplace safe? Not here with all the gun violence. Sad, very sad.

Rouhani’s European tour comes soaked in the blood of over 2,000 men, women, children, political opponents, dissidents, activists and others who have been executed since Rouhani took power; a large number of them in grisly public hangings.

For Europeans meeting with Rouhani this week, it is best to think twice before making a big risk in trading with the regime in Iran, particularly since in the eyes of the Iranians inside and outside the country trading with the mullahs is the equivalent to neglecting the gross violations of human rights in Iran.
al (medford)
At America's expense with this deal, Europe cashes in and fund's Iran's Terrorism. Anyone who thinks the USA could reap trade from Iran is insane. The treatment of Matt Trevithick by Iranian thugs proves the point.
Paul (Virginia)
China has been doing business with Iran despite sanction. Europe now rushes in while the US is sitting on the sideline not by choice because the US is not trusted and American companies are shuned. It shows the futility and cost of economic sanction as a tool of foreign policy. Economic sanction not only hurts the countries involved but also reduces global economic benefit and performance.
linda (NY)
Ah, the almighty rial. The consequences of trusting this fanatic regime are going to be dire and deadly.
Rina Sandler (New York City)
Iran has a chance to prove you wrong. Prove the doubters wrong. I certainly hope as we All do hope for peace, friendship, beginning of a better world.

Iran has to take pride aside and prove haters wrong!

Enjoy increasing economic prosperity for a state that sponsors terrorism.
Art (Colorado)
To which state are you referring: Saudi Arabia? We have been increasing their economic prosperity for decades and they have been funding terrorists all along.
John (Birmingham)
15 of 19 hijackers on 9/11 were from a non terrorist sponsor country, wink wink. terrorists come from countries that are allies of US. Iran never has or will sponsor terrorism.
Change Iran Now (US)
Specific Saudis have made donations to terror groups, we all know that. But Iran is a state sponsor of terror, using the full resources of a nation state to do so. In fact, there are only three nations the Obama administration has classified as state sponsors and that's Iran, it's client state Syria and North Korea. Even Cuba got taken off the list as it sought to normalize relations, but Iran is firmly committed as a matter of national policy to support terror groups like Hezbollah and fund proxy wars in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
Ehsan (NY)
Now it's United States that put sanctions on US companies not to trade with Iran. Americans loosing money and jobs in completion with EU.
WestSider (NYC)
Italy gets a 17 Billion boost to its economy while our politicians are hell bent on keeping us away from these opportunities so they an get a few thousands in campaign contributions from their "bomb!Iran" donors.
PMAC (Parsippany)
Iran has made it very plain - we are the enemy; they will eventually attack this country. Money is not everything -- the freedoms and safety of the American people also are at stake. Iran could never be trusted; all obama did was give them back their money - nothing else. We will pay the heavy consequences of that stupid fool in the white house, who thinks he knows it all.
Stephen Maiman (Ramsey NJ)
Iran will never attack us and if we take the opposite approach and not agree to some form of detente the consequences for us would be far greater
Tom (<br/>)
And just how is Iran going to attack the US (other than verbally)? There's a lot of ocean between us and them.
Rick Gage (mt dora)
This shows the rank stupidity of those who opposed the Iran nuclear agreement. They argued that if we, alone, kept American sanctions in place while the rest of the world relaxed their sanctions we could bring Iran to it's knees. Instead we would have found ourselves isolated from having any impact at all during this time of economic detente. Another example of Republican resistance to Obama no matter what the consequences. Proving, once again, you can fool some Americans all of the time but that doesn't apply to the world stage. FOX news doesn't have that kind of reach.
michjas (Phoenix)
Economic revival will surely fund a military build-up. If we get along better with the Iranians now, then we've made progress Otherwise, they remain a major threat to regional peace. I suspect Obama knows that and that it is too early to celebrate. And I suspect he thinks anyone putting it to the Republicans is more interested in bashing them than supporting him as he starts the long and difficult process of improving relations.
Carsafrica (California)
Tonight we will hear Republican candidates trying to appease the base by vowing to re institute sanctions against Iran and tear up the agreement from day one.
This will be another example of misleading the voting public and putting at risk Israel and the USA.
If the USA does walk away from the agreement the rest of the world will continue its ties with Iran , Iran will be free to develop nuclear weapons .
Effective sanctions only work with Global support.
