I love the book and TV program ideas! Go for it, guys. Can't wait to see the results.

Wonderful coverage of Bronx food: Bronx Flavor starring "Baron Ambrosia." He really has a gift for communicating how delicious the dishes are. You can find reruns of the show online.

That's great. But back in the day we had "J & J (Joe & Joe's)" Italian on Castle Hill Rd, "Mariscos del Atlantico" (or Pacifico?), high-end Dominican seafood on Tremont right under I-95 and, of course, Arthur Avenue (Mario's, Dominic's), Acapulco Mexican on Kingsbridge (?) and The Lobster House (City Island). It's what's discovered when a Yonkers Jew meets a Bronx Puertorriqueña in a joint on Yonkers Avenue in the '90s.....
Try Charlie's Kitchen or Ceetay in Mott Haven

Would if I could! But I moved to Puerto Aventuras, Mexico some time ago....Buen Provecho, amigo!
Myra Alperson of Noshwalks.com, has been conducting food walking tours of different Bronx neighborhoods for the past several years. And we're not just talking Arthur Avenue although she does that too. I went on one last summer in the South Bronx where we ate food from Mexico to Peru. From Granja to Huaxcuaxti Restaurant to Sam's for Soul Food near the famous Bronx Post Office. (Another tour stop).

Ghetto Gastro is the future of culinary arts. I can't wait to see their vision come to fruition.

Being a Bronx Boy (I'm 68 and left the place 40-some years ago, but I'll always be a Bronx Boy) I look forward to eating at a restaurant run (or better, owned) by one of these guys--or an understudy, and I hope they have understudies--on a future trip back to my home borough.

Fantastic! I once lived in The Bromx - a wonderful place. Good luck to these guys.

Outstanding !!! There's so much more to the Bronx than just Arthur Avenue. If you build it they will come.
6
True. People tend to only know Arthur Ave. and City Island...
Best of luck to these gifted, urban pioneers!

Good luck to these guys, but being a Bronx native and still here don't see people traveling from Manhattan or the other boroughs for dinner. People are still afraid of The Bronx.
1
Not true! I lead food tours all over NYC, including a growing number throughout the Bronx. There isn't a deluge of folks clamoring for my tours, but word is growing. There are many terrific eating opportunities in the borough!

It isn't fear. It's just far and not as convenient if you live in Manhattan or Brooklyn. But if they build it, and it's worth going, people will go.

The boogie down Bronx as a culinary destination, fabulous!
