Careful what you ask for Smith, You will get more tourists.
And it is not the polar vortex it is el nino doing this.
We are going to get so smacked but agreed this is nice.
N. Smith (New York City)
I don't know about you but after last winter, that Polar Vortex can stay right where it is.....
Emily (New York)
I would like someone to do an oil painting, in the style of 15th Century Flemish art, titled "Alternate-side parking suspended for the Immaculate Conception."

Crowds have been growing lately around the IMAGINE mosaic in Strawberry Fields, which sits below the Dakota in Central Park. And they're sure to be strong today, the 25th anniversary of the day John Lennon was shot. Especially now in these uneasy times, let's all take a minute to imagine all the people living life in peace, and a day when the world will live as one.

seems like it was just "Yesterday"

“Psychiatrists and scientists are sounding the alarm about climate change-related anxiety disorders.”
We did a goofy shtick on “Stormy Weather” at a party a few weeks ago, which just seems so on-point. Wondering will the side in favor of global warming get a fair hearing? Hoping no one confuses it with my point of view, LOL.

Tune of “Stormy Weather”

Don’t know why
They’re all dissing on the sky
Warming weather, noxious waste and us live together
It warms me all the time

Such a scare
When they harp on their despair
Warming weather, seems like they all get together
Complaining all the time

They sing of troubled seas, and have no patience for me
They say “Don’t warm me please,” I say “please don’t bore me”
They would rather freeze, their tone says they’ll ignore me
Deplore it even more

I’ll go on
Talking heads speak mostly con -
Warming weather, can’t we all just feel warm together
Warm feelings all the time
Just wear linen and not leather, warm feelings all the time

I'd like to see something on New Yorkers compared to Californians. You've got Thurber and his wonderful musings...we've had Herb Caen...

Bay Area temps are heading toward seventy this week...
Rae (Bronx, NY)
And your point is?
Coco (New York City)
This column is titled "New York" Today.
Bernardo Pace (Staten Island)
Thurber also entered the fray of real estate speculation, an NYC varsity sport, when he opined, "The Bronx, no thonx."
christmann (new england)
That was Ogden Nash.
Bernardo Pace (Staten Island)
Of course, you're right. Thonx.
christmann (new england)
You're welcome. I had always thought it was e.e. cummings, so I'm happy I checked and now have the right attribution.

Cheers for the great New York writers - may they never be forgotten.
