So unlike any other show? I find it interesting, but often cliche-ridden, with pretty obvious storylines.

My favorite show on TV...fits my imaginings/nightmares about turn-of-the-century New York. Clive Owen is so fantastic its scary. But I probably love the ensemble nearly as much as his white shoes! The show has that agonizing quality of the best Sopranos episodes where you know bad things are going to keep happening but you want the characters to change course. I just want the show to keep going.

This show would be more popular if we didn't have to wait for the season to end in order to see the current episodes. To get Cinemax, I have to buy the entire cable package. It's more TV than I watch or need. Maybe Cinemax will be the next premium to cut a deal with Apple.

Nice recap. I appreciated the discussion of the technical aspects in addition to the plot. I agree that the writing isn't quite up to the level of the shooting and editing. Still, an intriguing show.

I read somewhere that Soderbergh employs aliases based on the names of his father and mother as a means of honoring them.
The only problem with it I can see is that sometimes their reviews might turn out to be bad.
Andrea Damour (Gardner MA)
I hope more people catch on to this show- Simply great drama. Gallinger- so right for all the wrong reasons.

The "wonderful" Eve Hewson? Bono must have paid off all the critics, because for the life of me I cannot see her acting as great. She was a lucky girl who got the job.
Also, they got rid of all the women who were non-white; but hey, everyone thinks it's a great show!
Nico (NYC)
Please ? Got rid of the "non white women" racist much? They're are all balck shows and all Spanish or Hispanics shows ? If anyone said "white tv" we would be called racist but there can be an all balck station and Latino station ? Please explain how that's not racists ? So you don't like the show Because there is no other race than white ? That's hypocritical.. Thank you for confirming how much race is so important know... And everyone is getting back to the ice ages and "tribalism " rediculous ! Write a review not on race please

I welcome seeing more diversity in television casting, but Eve Hewson impressed me. I didn't know until today that she was Bono's daughter, and I have to admit, that still doesn't mean that much to me.

it's just sad that some people believe everything needs to be seen through the prism of race. Not every show, movie or other depiction of human endeavor needs to have a racially balanced cast to be "fair". That is not realistic and certainly not reflective of the real world. There is plenty of race on this show, most of it critical of the status quo of the early 1900's in the US, and that is to its credit. So let's not attack it for racist reasons. It is too good for that.

Riveting drama...with some scenes that I just can't watch without gagging...all in all...LOVE.

The best season premiere of the new season. I don't really understand why The Emmys weren't all over this program.
