Odell Beckham Jr. Created a Trend, Single-Handedly

Not sure I get all the "gloves" comments. There are plenty of guys dropping balls with the same gloves and two hands. He explained why he does the routine. One hand drills help your concentration. You have to be focused in to make the catches. He and Jarvis Landry started that at LSU. And, that particular catch (as well as others) would not have been made with both hands.

Yeah...gloves...sure...but...did you notice how his hand got there? He jumped...naw...he FLEW like an eagle into the sky man!!! YEAH! HE FLEW LIKE AN EAGLE INTO THE CATCH BABY!!!

Showboating seems endemic to top athletes in some sports. Besides this new trend in pro football, I'm thinking of the way bicyclists like to ease off at the finish line if they can, or sprinters to ease off when approaching the finish line (Usain Bolt especially likes to do that).

The guy is absolutely unique athlete and totally fund to watch but Giants fans should be worried that Beckham will break a hand catching balls the way he does. That would be a nightmare.

the one handed snatch is kind of like smoking. it gets you into a very bad habit! two hands are always better than one! you will do in the game what you do in practice. one of these days Odell is going to hot dog the Giants into a big loss when the winning TD slithers through his right hand while his left is waving to the camera. if i might take the liberty, " it is two for the money and one for the show."

I'd rather see OBJ run the correct route and win a SB with Eli

Even more amazing than Beckham's one-handed catch are all the non-catches of easily catchable passes that professional receivers botch. So I totally agree with Coach Coughlin: Two hands (when possible), and above all, focus on the ball!

They should let quarterbacks deflate the footballs -- a soft ball is easier to catch one-handed.

How long will it be before they can compete with the Cowboys?

All I know is Dez Bryant 'caught' that ball in Green Bay game. Go 'Boys!

Maybe he did, dennis. but if it weren't for a gift from the refs the previous week in detroit, he wouldn't have been on the field.

the refs giveth, and the refs taketh away.

so....Go. Big. Blue.

I can see the article that one day will castigate showboating players for losing games with one handed catches that make it easier for safeties to swat away the ball. Great tool in the tool kit...but not every time trying for the Sunday night highlight reel. To quote coach, "Two hands, please. Thank you very much."

Great player. Great catch.

The gloves had a lot to do with it.

Let 'em make that catch without the stickum gloves. For all of the slack that Jerry Rice got, these guys today have a far more advantage with the gloves that they're allowed to wear.
