I am still hoping that I won't get aother Email this year from the Mets excusing me from the requirement to fast on Yom Kippur because I've prayed and suffered enough during the baseball season!!.

The Mets are snake bitten with bad luck venom.

It's always about depth on the bench. But I sense some fight in these Mets. Let's get a little karma.
Michael (New York City)
Sheesh - so many scrub pitchers trying to pitch 'inside.' They don't have control... don't have location... don't have freggin' BRAINS !!!

They should have a SCRUB CHART to see who is the worst
menace in the league.
Idiots.

First Wheeler, then Edgin, then Wright, now Blevins and d'Arnaud. They've weathered the storm so far; will it continue?

Another Wilponzi scheme crashing to the ground.

Sabermetrics can measure a lot, but it still can't truly grasp the capabilities of a confident baseball team. Even with Harvey at less than his best, the Mets slipped past the out-of-sorts Marlins again. The Mets continue to serve notice to the rest of the NL; it's time to take them seriously again.

Great story, let's go Mets.

Yes as a loyal Mets fan since 1967, I was a bit hesitant to embrace & enjoy how well this Mets team started out of the gate. It was HUGE for David Wright's replacement to come up & immediately start driving in important runs and actually look good with his glove as well (Great job Soup!!). But as I waited for a possible shoe to drop, today it happened. Blevins has been vitally important to the bullpen and his loss is tough. I was so happy for Travis & how strong he looked at the plate. I wish them both speedy recoveries & hope their replacements flourish! After SIX straight losing seasons, we fans are STARVING for a winning team! LETS GO METS!

I'll take the Cubs to win more than the Mets this year.

Was at the game today. The Mets haven't lost since David Wright went on the disabled list. Yesterday, Wilmer Flores HR was the needed clincher. Today he didn't play and his replacement, Ruben Tejada, accounted for four of the seven runs, every one needed for the win. It's a team game. No panic...yet.
Pitching and defense is what wins championships. This team fields well, especially in the outfield, and Colon, de Grom and Harvey are an aggregate 8-1. Let's see how the back of the rotation does with Atlanta coming in.
Larry Eisenberg (New York City)
It seemed to good to be true,
Huge injuries striking anew,
There seemed good reason
For a post season,
Now we need a witches brew!
Mitch Gilbert (Charleston, SC)
Sandy has the brew ready to go,
Plawecki will be up to some time in the show.
Soon we'll see Parnell and Black,
And they'll fill the void until Blevins gets back.
Jay Diamond (New York City)
This game report left out the fact that Harvey almost didn’t pitch today due to a bad sore throat and fever. He’s fine. As for the injuries. I do believe opposing teams are throwing at the Met batters. The pitches to the hands of Cuddyer and d’Arnaud were deliberate, as have other pitches that prompted Harvey in his last outing to plunk Chase Utley in his back, correctly.

Today, after d’Arnaud the ump should have warned the whole Marlin bench.

The umpiring has been uniformly inept since the season began. It is a serious problem.

That aside, the Mets will survive these injuries and be fine. They have depth and a good farm system. And they will still win the eastern division and the pennant.

Enough of the poetry already! You denigrate the verified commenters with our nonsense.
