Not a Mets fan, but love Matt Harvey and he is must watch TV. He has a ton of moxie on the mound, and he backs it up with great stuff.

People are not paying that much attention to the Cuddyer addition, but he is a true pro with a real clue at the plate.

Being a beleaguered Met fan for 40 years, finally I have a NY Met that is the best of the best.

For the long suffering Met fans that remember the midnight massacre of June 15th 1977, when our hero Tom Terrific was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, this is a sweet moment in Flushing!

We have more work ahead of us, before we can strut with gusto. Let's make our opponent's dread us coming into town, like the did in the Day's of Backman, Dykstra, Strawberry, Gooden and the bad boys of the 80's.

It's the 84-85 seasons all over again when Dwight Gooden had people shaking their heads in disbelief of his complete dominance on the mound.
On his game days, you watched the game to see him pitch rather than watch the Mets hitters at-bats.
Stay healthy, Matt.
Paul (Bellerose Terrace)
He was dealing today.

He may call himself the Dark Knight, but I see him as the second coming of Tom Seaver. What joy.
KO (Vancouver, Canada)
Seaver didn't look this good early on. But it's not just how you start, it's how you finish. That goes for an inning, a game, a season, and of coarse, a career. Let's hope for a long arch for this special talent we have in Harvey. The longer, the better. Then we can compare him to Mr. Seaver.
Daniel (Greece)
Sure, if you want to be the last to make such a comparison, you can wait that long. I'm all in right now.

Is there another Tom Seaver in Mets history I seem to have forgotten about? I only know the guy who won Rookie of the Year while on a team of laughingstocks and carried his team to a WS just two years later. You couldn't be talking about him, could you?

Good thing the Mets' administration wasn't paying attention yesterday to Pope Francesa I pontificating about how Harvey should be held back one day to keep him out of the chilly weather in DC and rescheduled to make his first start for tomorrow in the warmer climes of Atlanta ... and then shouting down anyone who dared have the nerve to disagree with His Holiness.

Thanks for an LOL moment, TB! Couldn't have said it better!

Harvey and deGrom are the best 1-2 punch since the Mets had Seaver-Koosman and Gooden-Darling. They give us long suffering Mets fans cause for hope.

Is it my imagination, or is Harvey balking in that picture? It looks as if his right foot is off the rubber.

I think it's the mound equivalent of the old "neighborhood" call.
Paul (Bellerose Terrace)
I think he's pushing off. The Braves had a reliever last year who jumped a foot in front of the rubber before releasing the ball, and I never saw it called.
Joe Sabin (Florida)
No, if you really zoom in you can see he has at least one cleat touching the rubber.
