How The Times Decides What to Investigate

When the Times digs as deeply into the Clinton's, their "Foundation", how millions poured into it when she was Secretary of State under Obama, how Bill was paid $500,000 for a speech in Russia, then I will begin to respect your reporting. Until then, you're just a shill for the Democratic party and the uber-leftists who want to destroy the Republic. We already have a Plutocracy with many industries that are oligarchic or duopolies or monopolies. THAT is what you should also be digging into with the same vim and verve as this article.

Beefing up the investigative work of the Times is terrific, and I applaud that! And lately the investigative stories seem to be quicker and more timely, which makes them even more valuable. The relevance to breaking news is essential and needed as so many important stories appear and then just disappear. I devour these long form pieces but worry that not enough people read them. So I am glad to see that here is close coordination/awareness between your work and what's going on in the daily reporting. Keep up the good work!

“Gentlemen who have the Misfortune to have any of their Rogueries detected: Discovery seldom stops till the Whole is come out.”  Henry Fielding, Tom Jones ... with the help of a free and responsible press fully carrying out its public duty.

How come the NY Times spent "thousands of dollars" for a forensic evaluation of an Israeli soldier's stray bullet killing a woman "medic."? Why didn't it do the same for forensic analysisi of the modus operandi of Hamas who coerced Palestinians to make violent "protests" and attack Israelis soldiers with bullets, Molotov Cocktails, grenades, planting IEDs, etc.? BTW The NY Times itself had an article about this "medic" who participated in the protests attacking with the mob and throwing large stones that can kill at Israeli soldiers. These "protests" are part of the ongoing war with Israel and are used to gain sympathy for the Palestinian underdog.

Thank you for posting, a short time ago -- & after I sent an inquiring further Comment -- my yesterday's Comment, with its link to the full e-mail and substantiating EVIDENCE. A hopeful and positive sign. Bravo! Elena Sassower, Director/Center for Judicial Accountability, Inc. (CJA)

Already sent to [email protected], at 3:38 pm, today, was an e-mail with the subject heading: "Responding to 'How The Times Decides What to Investigate by 4 TIPS". Due to size restrictions of this Comments feature, I was unable to include the text of the e-mail. However, for those interested in reading it -- & examining the EVIDENCE substantiating the 4 TIPS --I've created a webpage for the e-mail on the Center for Judicial Accountability's website, here: http://www.judgewatch.org/web-pages/searching-nys/2019-press-outreach/2019-nyt.htm . Let's see what happens. Elena Sassower, Director Center for Judicial Accountability, Inc. (CJA) 914-421-1200 www.judgewatch.org [email protected]

I would have liked to have heard an example of a tip that came in, or what tips usually look like, or what percentage of them are anonymous. I'm curious about the actual tipping process. Maybe another article about this team and what they do would be good.

Could the NYT's investigate President Trump's school records???? Please, Please, Please !!!!!
TED338 (Sarasota)
How do editors decide where to focus investigative efforts?... If the name Trump is mentioned.
Ron Wilson (The Good Part of Illinois)
@TED338 They are also too dishonest to admit the truth that they overwhelmingly investigate Republicans and conservatives, two groups to whom President Trump doesn't belong.
Angela Baker (Colorado)
@Ron Wilson that's not true, they report on both parties equally...its just republicans commit more crimes then Dems do..theres almost gop reps that don't have something to do with Russia in one way or another.
Steve Cohen (Briarcliff Manor, NY)
They look for fire where there is smoke. The Republicans are constantly bellowing big clouds of the stuff.
knockatize (Up North)
Here's one for you, then. How did somebody as manifestly sleazy as Donald Trump avoid any meaningful charges against him for decades, and which officials in New York and New Jersey sat on their hands instead of doing something?
scsmits (Orangeburg, SC)
@knockatize What so you mean by "manifestly sleazy"? That's not the same thing as criminal.
Angela Baker (Colorado)
@scsmits back in the 80s and 90s no one thought he was "sleazy" he was just a big popular, flashy millionaire/billionaire that fooled everyone with smoke and mirrors.
