The Oscars Just Happened, and This Stylist … Stayed Quiet

I love that she tells clients their problem area is between their ears. Sometimes we need to hear it. And blah blah ladies, take a breath! Fashion and beauty keep lots of people employed and make the world nice to look at.

I’m not riding the subtle feminist wave here in restoring agency and dignity to actresses for...looking pretty pretty? I would think a feminist stance would illuminate the labor, as ugly as it is, that is essential behind producing an actress’ look. My question for the stylist is what can be more dignified than an honest approach to one’s work, one’s life?

Am I the only one who thinks this is a strange way to make a living?

@jn wolf Like it or not, we as humans are exceptionally visually oriented creatures. Appearance matters. I Celebrate the uncommon and unique talent.

The oh so precious princesses are oh so lucky.

"Sarah Price helps actresses and royalty but claimed no credit for any looks this past weekend. Nor will she ever!" Perhaps it's all just great PR and she doesn't actually have any celeb clients?! One never knows for certain if she or the client won't reveal...
Anne (Boston)
Sarah Price sounds like a terribly nice person. I love that she suggests but never insists. Her discretion about clients is laudatory.

Other stylists could take notes from Ms. Price. Based on the recent red carpets, not sure what some (not all) were thinking on their client's behalf.
Mortiser (MA)
There are enough people who deeply value talent, privacy and strategic courtesy to guarantee that this woman will work forever. But if she were to tire of fashion, there's a massive worldwide opportunity awaiting her as a discretion coach. If she were to set up a propriety camp in the north of England, Her Majesty would swiftly pack Prince Andrew off to be its first enrollee. (And if the Duke of Edinburgh were a younger man, he'd be sent along soon afterward.)

@Mortiser A discretion coach! A Propriety camp! May we send a certain President?
Vi (NY)
Sarah Price sounds a bit crazy but in a way that works for her creative career. She also sounds nice and as down to earth as someone can be when spending so much time at the intersection of celebrities and fashion. It's a pretty genius way to market but not MARKET herself. I hope she continues her quiet success and remains as fulfilled by it.
Cecilia (Westward)
How refreshing! A talented woman who enjoys the quiet, allowing her work to do its magic. In an aggressive self promoting world, her enjoying time at home -declining parties- seems counterproductive, yet it works perfectly. A dream come true!
Gerry Power (Suburban Philadelphia)
Ms. Price, everyone attending a public function like the Oscars has ample funds to pay for their own clothing. However, they willingly accept free clothing, knowing full well that the price is being a walking billboard for the designer.
C (Pioneer Valley)
Do you really think *you're* explaining this to *her*, Gerry? Heh.
CarolineOC (LA)
Sarah Price sounds fascinating. Think it's time for her to share her fashion tips with all of us -- maybe a book, or at at least an article (with lots of photos).
