Are there psychics who are not fakes?!!

... as opposed to “real” psychics?

Are not all psychics fakes, frauds and phonies? Magicians are only phonies when they claim their entertaining tricks involve magic “ the power of apparently influencing the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces”.

This obituary uses the term "fake psychic"--as if there were any other kind. As Houdini, Ms. Mackenberg, and dozens of other people have shown over decade after decade, there is no such thing as a "real psychic." Hence, the qualifier "fake" in this case is redundant.

She did a great service, exposing frauds in a field perennially attractive to the gullible. However, Houdini’s fanatical skepticism is also questionable. There is a growing body of evidence that consciousness survives death - see University of Virginia Department of Perceptual Studies, and Surviving Death by investigative journalist Leslie Kean. There is a growing body of credible evidence that departed people can in fact communicate to us through mediums, etc. Frauds are everywhere, and should always be exposed. But the existence of frauds does not in itself render any subject invalid, as we know from countless stories in the history of science.

Thank you for this obituary. Rose sounds like a wonderful person. I hope her final years were spent in contentment.

This one is a great pleasure to read. What an admirable soul. And a tip of a spirit (scotch) to her! I do love this project to redress the overlooked. While her contemporaries missed out, we get the treat of fascinating lives. Thank you.
