Refreshing information and trustworthy insights. My wish for all those who are lost and lonely during the holidays is that they open up a few bottles with a friend and share the glory that comes from each sip. Thank you Mr. Asimov.
Pups (NYC)
You are a very lucky man, Mr. Asimov.

Most memorable wines this year for my wife and me: Sbragia Merlot 2010 Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains Estate 2006 Brander Sauvignon Blanc Au Naturel 2015 Matchbook Wines Tinto Rey Rosé 2018 Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut NV Happy Holy Days Everybody, and a Prosperous New Year.

Not a California wine in the bunch. Try a cab or Sangiovese from Castello de amarosa in Calistoga. They are truly making some of the finest wines in the valley with an Italian flair

@Rob G Heitz is in Napa... Napa, CA.

@ Potter USA If you really are a colonoscopist, keep a bottle or two handy in your cabinet and revuve yourself between any two procedures.

Thank you for such a thoughtful commentary on your most memorable wines of the year. Your columns are a joy to read and a much needed respite from the constant Trump nonsense headlines that dominate the news. I can't wait to explore some of these bottles I have yet to try!
Elliott (Lenox, MA)
What was really special for me in 2019 was the Bota Box Malbec. It is available at $16 for a 3-liter box.
James (Savannah)
@Elliott The "Make America Great Again" special. Meanwhile we'll get back to Eric's list.
KLD (Ottowa)
@James For your information, James, Bota Box Malbec is an 86 point wine according to Wine Enthusiast, reviewed as "opens with spicy reedy aromas of dried herbs and red-berry fruits. On the palate, this is tight but shallow in the midtier. Flavors of baked plum and berry fruits come with a note of cocoa powder prior to a stable finish." Your attempt to drag politics into a discussion of wine for no reason whatsoever, and to discourage folks from drinking wines they like, is the exact antithesis of what Asimov is all about.
Stephen Moore (Albuquerque)
@Elliott I prefer their Shiraz
Jim Norvelle (Richmond, VA)
I have always enjoyed reading Eric Asimov’s columns. They are teachable moments. So now I add a Vermont winery to my “must visit” list. Vermont? Who would have guessed? Thanks for sharing your memories.
Potter (USA)
It’s about 6 am and i just finished reading this article and am starting my work day filled with deep envy for Eric. What a great job to have while I go and do my days worth of colonoscopies at work! But these wines are on my list and I’ll scout some stores and the internet to find them.

@Potter Ok, ok, no need to brag that your job is one notch below wine tasting.
