The grammys are pointless, just PC nonsense, and this proves it. It is about anything other than the best music - as if that could be determined and should be rewarded anyway.

The Grammys get more tired every year. There is much more going on in music ("pop") than what the Grammys presents.
The yuge diversity in music is hardly represented by their pigeon hole "categories", and musicians cover so many styles/types and mixes of music/sound, that judging purely by commerciality fails. They don't represent the world of music.

Popular music in a long ago past represented a collective cultural vibe. A national musical voice that celebrated our diversity as it validated our unity. Then it happened. An entirely different music scene evolved that became comprised of niche offerings, music specialized to appeal to specific populations and segments of society. Vocalists, in particular, are out to impress with the power of image and personality alone. The music they make is secondary, used as a vehicle to promote them into celebrity status. Bring back the music! What popular once meant. Sounds we all could relate to.

Lizzo's Tiny Desk concert was not good at all. I'm a huge fan of Tiny Desk and enjoy pretty much all of them even in genres I don't necessarily like. I've checked out some of her videos and don't see what all the fuss is.
Does Taylor Swift need additional Grammys? Is she really feeling snubbed? It isn't as though she is just starting out and needs a televised awards show for attention. She's an established artist now whose music sells through word of mouth and an online presence.

I watched Lizzo’s Tiny Desk Concert and I loved it. She is raw and talented. Did you know she is a classical flutist? I am so glad the just let he be who she really is at NPR. I love the energy in her music and I just love her. By the way I’m 62.

Best new artist but could be an awful person.
She allegedly had a meltdown and tweeted about not receiving her food delivery. She also maligned by name the delivery person and accused her of stealing her food(Ms Diva wouldn’t answer her phone). Really sad.
Classy artists only do business with celebrities and associates who treat all others e.g. service workers, kindly and with respect. As a college student waiting tables I waited on David Coverdale and Al Green. Both were kind and respectful.
I think how an artist behaves should be part of the voting process.

For over fifty years the Grammys have snubbed my favorite performers. I'm glad they are consistent.

Who are these people? I looked one up on Youtube, and then listened to one of the songs. Not really a song, and yet it gets nominated for a Grammy. Awards are not really worth anything nowadays.

Pop music needs to go on a diet. Bad taste and tacky is what drives the Grammys. There is already too much noise in the world. No thanks!

One might feel nostalgic for the days on instruments, but at least we don't have to suffer through the ennui from the "serious" musicians anymore!
@Telecaster I prefer actual musicians to twerkers.

@Telecaster Lizzo is a conservatory trained flutist (really), making her a "serious" musician who used her deep knowledge of music and music theory to create catchy pop songs with a positive message.

One of the most refreshing things about Lizzo, in addition to her talent, is that she doesn’t give a hoot if someone likes or doesn’t like her fashion choices. That makes her a knockout in my book.

@Janet Oglethorpe , so maybe a fashion award not a music award?

The lady is obviously talented. Eight Grammy nominations is indeed a Big Deal. However, her clothes - dress or gown - that, generally, create the first impression about a person are not doing much for her. She needs to do better in this department. Or at least not do as bad as is the case here. I can't tell which is a bigger eyesore, the color-combo or the cut and design of the dress. Perhaps both are equally bad.

@IWaverly Lizzo is wildly popular because she has a positive message about self-love to convey. Her wardrobe choices stem from that message - that a large woman can be comfortable enough with herself to be sexy and flashy. I get that it's not your aesthetic, but in calling that out, it shows that you missing the message. I'm a middle aged woman and I love Lizzo. I wouldn't dress that way, but it makes me happy that she's happy dressing that way.

@PLS
Flashy yes, sexy no. There's nothing sexy about being obese, and we're really doing a disservice to people by pushing this notion, which runs in parallel with the newly-popular idea of "healthy obesity".
