That Walter Kerr was left cold is testament to the male centered values that still rule the roost. (Metaphor intended)

I remember seeing a production of Fefu and Her Friends in Washington, DC in the early 80s. It was transporting and so much ahead of its time. I knew then I was seeing something unique. Almost forty years and a thousand plays later it is still one of my favorites.

Please please don’t forget, how can you not mention the production at Wynn Handman’s American Place Theater? In all his 60 years of teaching and producing American theater, Fefu was also seminal and hugely important to Wynn. He carries the beauty, the truth, the original elegance of that production with him still. He teaches it, he revels in it, he values that production of Fefu and working with Ms. Fornes, perhaps above most of the theater he has been the producer, teacher and instigator of, lo’ these many years. Really TFNC? And the NYT? Rarely have I seen anything at TFNC that was not self-congratulatory and precious. I loved Endgame with Dianne Weist, which did not... originate at TFNC. You all continue to show your ignorance about the origins of truly great American theater in NYC, including the production of Fefu at APT.

@allyce Theater for the New City is a different theater than this one Theater for a New Audience

Thank you. I stand corrected.

Correction: in my response, I referred to the new production of Fefu as being at TNC. It is at TFANA.
