What the 2020 Campaign Sounds Like

While it's clear that the 2016 presidency swung on the quality of authenticity (as noted in this edition of The Daily), it's likely that authenticity will be but a foundational characteristic in the 2020 race. Assuming this to be the case, a discussion of what might prove to be erected on top of the 2016 authenticity foundation would be an excellent future discussion on the nominational/electoral process...

I love the daily, and listen to it everyday, that being said, this episode felt like a filler, sure there is some interesting insight from the playlist, but in my opinion, not to merit an episode. How about covering the amazon fires? Or any other more relevant topic? Just a thought.

Interesting episode today, and very worthwhile. But something has perplexed me for the last three years: Why in the world would anyone choose to end every rally with the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want"? It seems like the wrong note to send people out on generally, but perhaps especially for "I am the only one who can do it" Trump. Does Mr. Herndon have a theory?

Can y’all share some playlists for each of the candidates? This was awesome and I’d love to dive into each a bit further.

Today's episode made me wonder about the musical artist and how some may feel about their work being associated with different candidates. Is there a way for artist to demand their songs be removed from these playlists or is it all up to their label who holds the rights? I can only imagine that Freddy Mercury would not want his music supporting Donald Trump. But that is just a guess. I thought I had heard at one time that Nancy Sinatra had said that her father would be very upset at the idea of Trump using his songs. Can she not do something to prevent it?

There was something that I wished you had covered was the artists and their thoughts of their music being used on certain elects ads. Like when McCain has used Silversun Pickups and they had instantly asked them to remove their music from the ads because they were not given permission. Many bands and artists have done that to promote those who they care about it the little things like that matter. Just a thought.

I can only hope that the USA voters will understand how to vote in 2020 to avoid the re-election of DJT who, I must admit, has a high content of entertainment, but, as a president, is definitely not up to the task. In my memory of more than 7 decades, I have never seen any POTUS behaving in such a disgraceful way. So, please, USA voters, whether you're Democrat or Republican, I don't care, but do whatever you have to do to avoid this man being re-elected. Thanks to my (digital) subscription to the NYT I am able to follow what is happening in your great country and I feel thoroughly sorry that you have to suffer this downfall.

To today's guest (8/22/19): not everything needs to be made into an adverb (at minute 7:30, "does it look differently").

Most People already know that whatever Biden says he is just not electable because of: 1. He worked to try and undermine Social Security three times. 2. Joe was a big promoter of fracking worldwide. 3. his vigorous support of NAFTA and the vile TPP. 4. as MBNA’s point man, Joe made sure many students will have to carry crushing debt loads and have a life of servitude because he made it very difficult to declare bankruptcy. 5. all the sons and daughters killed or maimed in Iraq, after Biden held – per Scott Ritter UN arms inspector – sham hearings promoting such war. 6. his racist support of the infamous Crime Control Act of 1994 and fighting against busing for desegregation with Jesse Helms. 7. all the women he has disrespected with his unwanted touching, and his efforts to reduce insurance coverage of contraception. Please go away, Joe Biden, media invention, job and people killer, cruel smiling fake.

I loved today's episode. I am generally I huge fan of the podcast and all its episodes. However, I am truly disappointed by the fact that the ongoing fires in the Amazon rainforest have yet to be mentioned even in the additional news at the end of the episode. The New York Times is known for covering global news. The Notre Dame Cathedral fire got air time, crisis in Sudar, in Kasmir, all of these have been talked about on the air. What makes these fires different? Thank you for your time, Nathalie Baudouin
